PinoyAMAšŸ‡µšŸ‡ Guide to posting AMAs

Are you ready to do an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on r/PinoyAskMeAnything? Whether you're a Filipino professional, artist, entrepreneur, or someone with a unique experience to share, this guide will help you post an AMA correctly so you can engage with Redditors the right way.

What is an AMA?

An AMA (Ask Me Anything) is a Reddit tradition where people invite others to ask them questions about a specific topic they have firsthand experience in. The key here is that you must be the subject of the AMA. You should have direct knowledge, expertise, or a unique story to share—AMAs about others are not allowed.

Steps to Post an AMA Properly

  1. Confirm You Are the Subject

Before posting, ask yourself:

āœ… Do I have personal experience with what I’m talking about?

āœ… Can I answer questions in a meaningful way?

āœ… Am I open to interacting with Redditors?

If the answer is yes, you’re good to go!

  1. Use a Clear and Engaging Title

Your title should quickly tell people who you are and why they should ask you questions. Some good examples:

"I am a Filipino nurse working in the UK—Ask Me Anything!"

"I was a contestant on 'Eat Bulaga's' Bawal Judgmental—AMA!"

"I run a sari-sari store in Manila—Ask me anything about small businesses!"

Avoid vague titles like "Ask me anything!" or topics you don't have personal experience with.

  1. Provide Proof (If Necessary)

If you're making a big claim (e.g., a celebrity, expert, or public figure), you may be asked for proof. This could be a photo with a timestamp, a verified social media account, or a relevant document (with sensitive info blurred).

  1. Write an Informative Opening Post

Your introduction should give Redditors context about who you are and what you’re here to talk about. Example:

Hi, I'm Juan, a 30-year-old Filipino working as a seafarer. I’ve been traveling the world for 10 years, and I’d love to answer questions about life at sea, how Filipinos can get into this career, and what it’s really like onboard a ship. Ask me anything!

The more details you provide, the better the engagement!

  1. Engage with the Community

An AMA is not just a post—it’s a conversation. Once your AMA is live:

āœ… Respond to questions actively

āœ… Be honest and detailed in your answers

āœ… Have fun and enjoy the interaction!

  1. Follow Subreddit Rules

Before posting, always check r/PinoyAskMeAnything’s rules to ensure your AMA follows the guidelines. If you're unsure about anything, feel free to ask the mods.

Start Your AMA Today!

Now that you know how to do an AMA the right way, we look forward to seeing your post! If you have any questions before posting, comment below or message the mods.

Happy posting!

Love, Marriage & Relationships I’m a doctor, while my partner is a lawyer. AMA!

Before this AMA, I wrote a confession post about us. We also both graduated from a well-known university. We’re actually both topnotchers, but we weren’t together yet when we topped our respective exams. I previously did an AMA where I mentioned that I was an INTARMED graduate, while my partner works in the government.

Disclaimer: I won’t be sharing any specific information that could potentially doxx us.

Business & Professional Careers I automate the boring stuff and keep the business running behind the scenes. Basically, taga-ayos ng mga bagay na minsan ako rin ang naguguluhan. AMA šŸ˜‚

I work remotely as an automation specialist and handle backend business operations for a US-based private company.

A big part of my job is making sure systems work, processes run smoothly, and the stuff happening behind the scenes doesn’t turn into a full-blown problem. Sometimes it’s automation, sometimes it’s troubleshooting, and sometimes it’s figuring out why something that worked perfectly yesterday has suddenly decided to develop a personality.

Working remotely for a US-based company also means getting used to different work hours, figuring things out independently, and occasionally having conversations with my laptop that probably aren't productive.

If you're curious about:

  • What an automation specialist actually does (besides making computers do the work)
  • What it's like working remotely for a US-based company while living in the Philippines
  • How business operations work behind the scenes
  • The tools, systems, and workflows I use to make work less repetitive
  • The reality of remote work, including the freedom, the challenges, and the occasional "teka, bakit ayaw gumana?" moment
  • How I got into this kind of work and what skills are useful

Or if you just want to ask about the day-to-day life of someone who spends a lot of time fixing problems people don't always see...

Ask me anything. I'll answer what I can!

Alam kong di unique ang pagiging agnostic and im not the atheist wizard.

More on deconstruction and religious upbringing ko ang maseshare ko—at baka may makarelate sakin especially sa mga ex-Christians na atheist na.

20 years mahigit akong walang absent sa simbahan, since birth nasa ministries na, youth leader pa noon.

Love, Marriage & Relationships I Have a partner who had a "Hoe Phase", AMA!

My partner has a lot of body counts and i don't mind at all, and she is my first body count. But whenever we do the deed my partner always emphasize that they always do it with the FUBU every other week or sometimes the whole week. And also with other guys.

But when i tried to ask her why she can't do it with me the deeds and thing they are doing like everyday, or every week. (Kapagod mag english) Lagi niya nililihis sa ibang usapan, or rason nya wala na sya sa peak nya. I have this lowkey Jealousy hahaha although past nya yun and di ko mababago yun. Ang di ko maintindihan is lagi niya kinukwento ang mga iyon after ng sex namin like mapapaisip nalang ako if Okay ba ginagawa ko or hindi hahaha although good naman daily life namin, pero the intimate part is ang bland. Or siguro kulang pa ako sa experience hahaha.

I just want to know your thoughts about this short story of mine. AMA

Nakapag stay na ako sa Amanpulo! 🌓✨

With Kim K and Hamilton putting the island in the spotlight, I’ve been seeing so many questions and misconceptions about Amanpulo. Hehe!
So if you’re curious about the island, the experience, the price, ASK AWAY!

To start, sobrang ganda ng Pamalican Island. Been to El Nido, Coron, Boracay, and this is the best sand I ever touched. Parang harina sa pino.

Student Life & Campus Experiences I graduated from INTARMED. AMA!

For context, INTARMED (Integrated Liberal Arts and Medicine) is a seven-year accelerated medical curriculum offered by the University of the Philippines College of Medicine (UPCM).

Before entering INTARMED, I studied at a science high school. I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to pursue medicine at the time. In fact, my dream degree program was Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. However, when I learned that I had been selected for INTARMED, I decided to pursue medicine instead.

The early years of the program were really challenging for me, and I stayed mainly because I thought it would be a waste to leave. I only started to genuinely enjoy medicine when we began our hospital duties.

When I finally rotated through Internal Medicine during my clerkship, I realized that I wanted to pursue a subspecialty under it. Another reason I chose this specialization was that we have a family history of diseases associated with it. Having that career path in mind kept me going. I pursued residency right after topping the PLE.

This year, I completed my residency and passed the PSBIM. However, I’m currently on maternity leave. This is actually the first time in many years that I’ve finally been able to take a break from studying and working in the hospital. My baby is asleep right now, so I thought I’d take this opportunity to do an AMA!

Spotlight I'm an unemployed software developer AMA!

I have about 5 years of professional experience and was recently laid off by the end of August this year. My expertise is in end-to-end product development, especially creating web apps using modern tech like Next.Js. In my previous role, I was the lead developer for a SaaS platform with AI integration.

I'm doing this AMA to take my mind off things specific to job hunting. Sunod2 kasi ang bad news kaninang umaga. Kaya I'm taking a break muna.

Ang hirap ng job market ngayon. Sobrang competitive and konti lang roles na available.

Health & Well Being Finally diagnosed with the CORRECT rare disorder at 27 after 15 years of doctors telling me ā€œnormal lang yan.ā€ AMA

Since grade 6 I’ve had random symptoms na walang nakakaintindi: insomnia, sleep paralysis, chronic pain, jaw pain + braces that made things worse.

I was told it was puberty, then stress, then DOMS from the gym. (Spoiler: it was none of those.)

Four diagnoses later, August this year, I finally got the answer: hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or hEDS.

I think I’m the first Filipina to become an advocate and create content about EDS dito sa Pilipinas. For sure may mga kagaya ko rin na misdiagnosed or undiagnosed kasi hindi pa widely known into dito satin, but when you search it sa western countries, may mga community na sila and meron nang mga specialist doon.

I’m not a doctor. I just know what it’s like to be told you’re fine when you’re not, and how expensive and slow it is to get answers here. Ask me anything about the diagnosis journey, the cost, dealing with family na ā€œsa isip mo lang yan,ā€ or what hypermobility actually feels like.

Student Life & Campus Experiences 21F international student about to graduate next year, AMA!

I live in Tokyo and go to a nice, non-diploma mill university (IYKYK). I live in a studio apartment by myself. No family in Japan except for cousin who is 19F and richer and goes to uni in another city (followed me to Japan after I got into university).

Not currently working part time but I’m supposed to have a nice internship in a few weeks, pero I have been working a lot in the past. Full scholarship for tuition for 5 sems, now only with 1/3 scholarship for last 3 sems (though hopefully tataas ulit since yearly scholarship application). Currently starting final year so patay sa thesis!!! I’m from a very middle class family of 5, single-income household and my dad currently makes about 100k a MONTH (edit: I ACCIDENTALLY PUT A YEAR).

I don’t like Japan and I am trying to leave it by the time I graduate for somewhere nicer (hopefully Europe šŸ¤ž) Ask me anything about how I got here, advice, or thoughts on Japan!

Growing Up Stories I’m a Filipino atheist — AMA

I’m an atheist, and I’m open to answering questions about why I became one, what I believe (and don’t believe), and how I view religion, morality, God, and the Bible.

Recently, I've been thinking a lot about the morality of God, especially the story of the Ten Plagues in Exodus and the death of the Egyptian firstborn. It raised some serious questions for me about whether a perfectly loving and just God can be reconciled with some of the things attributed to God in the Bible.

I'm not here to attack anyone's religion or tell people what they should believe. I'm genuinely interested in having a respectful discussion.

Ask me anything.
• Why did I become an atheist?
• Do I believe morality exists without God?
• Do I think God could exist even if the Bible is wrong?
• What do I think happens after death?
• How do I view Christianity and other religions?
• What would make me reconsider atheism?

Religious believers, agnostics, and fellow atheists are all welcome. Just keep it respectful.

The Expat Life I’ve been welcoming newcomers to Canada for almost 20 years, AMA!

Kumusta po!

I’m a settlement worker who has been welcoming newcomers to Canada for almost 20 years.

I work for a not-for-profit organization funded by the Government of Canada which helps immigrants become engaged and productive members of their new communities.

There are now over 1 million Filipinos who call Canada home, please feel free to ask questions about what it’s REALLY like to come to Canada.

Keep in mind that while there are no silly questions, information provided during the AMA does not constitute legal advice. If you need legal advice, book a consultation with a licensed immigration consultant or lawyer.

Looking forward to everyone’s questions at 9:00am EDT / 9:00pm Manila on Wednesday September 23, 2026 Ā šŸ‡µšŸ‡šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

Maraming salamat po!!

Love, Marriage & Relationships I date beauty queens and commercial models but I'm not a rich guy. AMA

I don't really intend to just date pretty, attractive women but they're usually the ones I match with on dating apps. I date other types of women but 80% of the time, I end up dating beauty queens, models, and brand ambassadors.
