First Game Questions
Hey Union fans,
I recently moved to PA from Minnesota for school (attending Villanova currently). I’m an MNUFC fan, but I enjoy MLS as a whole and definitely want to catch a Union game either this Saturday or on Decision Day.
A few questions:
- What’s the most cost-effective way to get to Subaru Park?
- I’m big into collecting autographs and would love to meet a few players. Where and when is the best to catch home and away players? Should I look into tickets for specific sections?
- Are one-gallon clear freezer bags allowed inside the stadium?
Appreciate any advice!

find a friend with a car. PT is most cost effective but you’re going to be spending half your afternoon getting down there.
Plus waiting a bit at 69th street for the Norristown High Speed Line on the way home.

I’m unfortunately not heading to the match this weekend because of work but you might even be able to find a carpool, plenty of people come from all over Delco.

sorry I have no idea the answer to this. Not something I’ve ever tried to do. Growing up at the stadiums you could just hang out around the parking lots, but I’ve never heard of that for union games

Bag policy: https://www.philadelphiaunion.com/stadium/entry-policies
TLDR: a clear gallon freezer bag itself is likely permitted, but you cannot bring outside food or drink into the stadium

The travel side of things: if you can time it right, taking the NHSL/100 from Villanova to 69th St, MFL to 30th St and the Wilmington/Newark Line to Chester may work out cheaper than Uber. Pay close attention to your timing
Edit: I am dumb and forgot about the idea of a bus. Route 113 runs from 69th st and stops at 3rd and Yarnall right near the stadium. Check your schedule, though. This costs like 3 bucks each way

From Nova, personal transportation is your cheapest option with reasonable timliness by far. Uber/Lyft will could run close to $75-100 round-trip from that distance. Public transportation would be NHSL to the 113 and then short walk, or NHSL to 109 to the game day shuttle, both options are probably taking 2ish hours of travel. Assuming everything lines up. If you miss a bus after the game though, probably add an hour to that commute time. You have to get some connections, but this should cost $12ish (less if you already have the Septa Key card).

Meeting Players... It's not at all a sure thing, but the section 101/140 entrance is your best bet from what I've experienced. Seating right by the benches may also work?

I think so, I've never done it, but I've seen it done. I'd still double check the bag policy on the website

The most sure fire way to try to get autographs would be getting seats with tunnel access but those are super pricey. Otherwise, can watch socials as players will sometimes do local events. My kid got to meet Kai Wagner and Nathan Harriel this way a few weeks ago. Also, they do a meet the team thing for season ticket holders once a year

There is also the bus from Brauhaus Schmidts on South St. Not sure if that runs ever game though. You could take the train to Center City and head over before the game.

Probably early pre/post-match in the tunnel under the Sons of Ben section.

No idea. Google it.

Also - I have a season tickets midfield and can’t go to the Toronto match. I’ll happily sell them to you at cost if you are interested.
