Hey guys,
Iām looking to buy an air purifier and have been looking at the Levoit series. I have two pigeons in an average sized bedroom and was wondering if getting the Core 600S is an overkill or will it be the better option in the long run, rather than getting the smaller versions and having them get clogged up quicker than Iād like etc. the reason why Iām looking at the larger model is because the moment I got my second pigeon, I have been noticing some more sneezing and sometimes wheezing from me. But itās also Spring over here and hayfever is definitely a factor to it too.
Thank you!

Wondering if this behaviour is him playing and having fun, or if he's actually unhappy? Accompanied by cooing and circling, fluffy feathers, and preening. I've read these are good signs but he is just... so mean š

I had been wanting a pigeon for a very long time, and finally rescued one earlier in the year. Heās so fun to have, super friendly and brave and I love spending time with him. However, Iām a nurse that works night shift and on the days that I work I cannot have him out of his cage for very long. I feel terrible because he coos all day and itās rather loud, but I need to sleep during the day before going into work. I donāt know if I should consider rehoming him because I feel like maybe I donāt give him as much out of cage time as he deserves. I would love to hear peopleās thoughts on this.

UPDATE: I have found her a lovely experienced home with another pigeon who live nearby! I am sad, but also feel relieved and excited for her that sheās going somewhere amazing. Sheās going to have the BEST life and Iām honored to be her small part of it. Thank you all of you for the support!
This is absolutely heartbreaking to write, but I potentially may have to rehome my beautiful classic old frill Opal. I just want to say a big thank you to this group too, you all were SO helpful and such a wealth of knowledge on this subreddit, it really gave me everything I needed to be the guardian of a beautiful pigeon, but unfortunately I am allergic to her, as well as my dog. Iāve had her for six weeks, sheās approximately 4 months old, and not sexed (I just call her āsheā lol)
I have tried everything: air purifiers, vacuuming 2-3x a day, changing out her cage liners, wiping all surfaces with bird safe cleaner, wearing a respirator when cleaning her cage, you name it. Unfortunately due to the meds Iām on I canāt take allergy medication, and I donāt want to put my dog on medication if I donāt have to. Both of us have been just so sneezy and itchy, itās because difficult to cope with. I feel so terrible, I absolutely did not foresee this coming because Iāve fostered and worked with dusty parrots, but for some reason their dust didnāt flare up any allergies.
Absolutely everything she has can go with her, cage, huge bag of pigeon seed, grit, toys, you name it. I even had a custom table built for her cage thatās yours to take (but it would require a small van/truck/SUV to move), the C&C cage can be dismantled. I also already have a travel carrier for her, UV lamb and bulb, and all cage liners.
I am hoping to stick it out for another month and maybe weād get more used to her dander, but my only reprieve is at work when the symptoms stop.
Iām located in BC Canada and I will not ship her, she needs to be picked up and ideally all her items will go with her. It would be amazing for her to have a little pigeon friend too, my apartment only allows 2 pets and since I have a dog I wasnāt allowed to get her a partner, but that was the plan for the future. Please send me a message if you think youād be a good home for her.
Please be kind too, Iām so upset over this. I included some lovely pics of her, sheās such a cutie pie.

Hey there! Me and my husband have had a recurring issue with our aviary pigeons and we're at a loss about what to do.
Currently, we have a sizable indoor aviary that takes up half of our office and seven birds inside. It's absolutely enough space to hold them all comfortably, it's filled with wall perches, branches that run the entire length of the aviary both ways, and many nesting boxes/opportunities (considering we have a bonded pair). On paper, it has so many options for them to roost and engage with.
However, after lengths of time, the chasing begins. Every bird prioritizes the top cross perch (two lengths of wood that run length-wise and width-wise across the upper layer of the aviary that cross in the center). Because of that, they only will engage with the top 1/4th of the aviary with the exception of feeding time, which causes an extreme amount of territory claiming (which is fine, if those spots didn't completely overlap with the very small section of space) and chasing/fighting.
We try to encourage coming down to the large majority of the aviary by open feeding and using forage mats/boxes for meals, but that only encourages them to go to the exact spots for tiny portions in the day. For the other 90% of the day, all birds go up to that cross and fight every moment they aren't all sleeping. We usually have a few good months, but it always bubbles up and ends up at the same battlefield.
We've wanted to try more non-food toys (because they only engage with treat related toys and we don't want them to get overweight or worse), but it has never worked in the past. The kind of birds we have are not people socialized, which is fine and we love just watching them be birds, but that also means that introducing them to things can be tricky. Anything we've done in the past is just ignored or extremely short-term engagement.
I don't know how similar our situation is to others, but we're at a loss with what to do and we really just want them to be happy and would welcome any and all suggestions available to us.
Sorry for the mouthful, I just wanted to give as much context as possible.

hi! this is my beautiful lulu. he gained a bunch of weight since iāve rescued him, and is free of worms and other parasites. recently i had an emergency visit with a vet due to an accident where he bruised his foot. the vet noticed he was slightly too thin. (keel is sticking out a bit too much). lulu is a very picky eater, and doesnāt eat half of his seed mix. iāve tried multiple mixes, but thereās always a bunch of seeds he doesnāt eat. (he currently only eats the peas and the small corn pieces). i bought a 5 kilo bag of just the peas, hoping he would gain weight. but he doesnāt like the loose peas i boughtš does anyone have tips on what to do?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to introduce my beautiful son, Rainy. I found him as a baby a few months ago whilst out at a cafe; he hobbled into the cafe with a bad leg and missing tail feathers, and I scooped him up and took him home. I managed to nurse him back to health, his leg healed, his tail feathers grew back, and now he's living a wonderful life as a very spoiled and extremely loved special prince.

Won't be for awhile yet because I have to get a vehicle at some point. However once I do I'll likely be moving across the state from PA closer to the OH border to TN. It's a little over 8 hrs drive (probably longer as I'll also probably have my two dogs with me so obviously breaks will be implemented.) My question is would they be ok for that long if I stop and let them out occasionally or would it be better to try and rehome them before leaving? I don't want to stress them out but I also am not comfortable leaving them where I am currently. (It's also obviously going to depend on if I'm allowed to bring the pigeons to where I'm going. I don't mind sleeping in the car with the dogs but again I'm not sure how the pigeons would handle it or sleeping in a vehicle in TN)
TLDR: Could I move my pigeons almost 8 and a half hours across the state with me and my two dogs or would I be better off trying to rehome

I have a bathroom connected to my room, so I've been taking her in there daily to let her explore the tub. Today I ran some water, and she immediately began splashing around and playing in the water from the faucet. (Ignore her overgrown nails, I'm trimming them later tonight)
