unknown unit, but it's militia.

translation:

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, 11 Special garrison regiments were established all over China by the PLAGF for urban-counterterrorism and defensive warfare. However, due to the strengthening of the People's armed police and Local police's SWAT, by 1998, all of the 11 regiments were disbanded with the exception of the Beijing and Shanghai garrison command's regiments.

The Special garrison regiment, ShGC was composed of multiple motorized infantry battalions and one special operations battalion; E.g. the highly decorated "Nanjing road good 8th company"(again, translations for honorary titles are hard) was the 8th company of the 3rd motorized battalion.

the Spec ops battalion, SGR, ShGC participated in security for the 2008 olympics and 2010 world expo;

Starting from 2012, the 8th Company, 3rd motorized began to undergo reforms towards being a proper special operations unit, as part of the "hundred man counter-terrorism commando unit" program(essentially, the establishment of company level tier one units or more elite units of the company scale).

In 2017, during reforms, the Special garrison regiment, Shanghai garrison command was merged with a coastal defense brigade(unspecified) of the ShGD and the 1st recon battalion, 1st group army to form the 72nd special operations brigade "thunderbolts" of the 72nd group army.

In the 2025, during spec ops reforms, the 72nd spec ops brigade was shrunken to battalion size and put under the 72nd service support brigade.(also under 72nd GA); most likely elements of it were transferred to the new 1st spec ops brigade under the eastern theater command ground force.

(the Nanjing road 8th company still is under the battalion to this day).

Apparently the helicopter belongs to the Hunan Xiangwei general aviation company ltd. (湖南翔为通用航空有限公司). (keep in mind this is usually the case with militia helis, they are owned by private corporations but can be mobilized in disasters/wartime.)

Based at Zhuzhou lusong district: https://surl.amap.com/1Ym6F2wCdfFq

Also, helicopter militia platoons are typically composed of only one helicopter.

(essentially on solar terms or special dates official military media will post photos of the military for that day, sort of like a calender; Lixia, on May 5, 2024 is the start of summer FYI)

Typically the ZFBP-1600(manufacturer link if you wanna do more digging) is used merely for riot control and is seen less in photos. It's manufacturer also makes the BFBP-500 tactical shield and CFBP-900 standard shield, which are very commonly seen among PAP troops. (and can also be used for stuff like preventing knife attacks.)

(pic of BFBP-500 in use) (pic of CFBP-900 in use)

Worth noting, none of these three shields can stop bullets and are mostly for riot control or against suspects with melee weapons.

Stats(according to manufacturer; feel free to correct me on the translation):

Size: 1601.9x560 mm

viewing port size: 250.2x120.5mm

Can withstand strikes of 170 J

Can withstand 147 J of penetration(worth noting, the type 54 pistol has 490 J of energy)

Can withstand hits of 480 J

The company recieved this honorary title(海峡前哨神炮连) in 1979 during the battle of Đồng Đăng where they destroyed a vietnamese artillery battery using merely 24 shells. (trust me, the honorary title sounds better in Chinese).

Prior to 2025 reforms, coastal defense brigades would have an artillery battalion, but coastal defense brigades were disbanded in 2025, and artillery units were handed to artillery brigades of group armies.

The company is stationed in Shijing town, Nan'an according to a 2016 article(could be outdated, idk, but most likely in that general region) and is to the north of kinmen.

Both part 1 and 2 have a lot of info on PAP engineering vehicles, may post more clips soon

Unit is 4th road construction battalion, 1st road construction detachment, 2nd mobile corps.

PAP road construction units are in charge of urban search and rescue, along with repairing logistics routes during disasters and wartime. (the 3rd RCD, 2nd MC is also in charge of maintaining the sichuan-tibet highway); they no longer really do road construction nowdays.

the 4th RC Battalion, 1st RC detachment is stationed in Chenzhou, Hunan.

Intresting new gear, all the QBZ-95-1s seen have red dots, and most have tactical flashlights. Also on pic 4 the sergeant has a gopro on his vest intrestingly, probably not standard issue.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiet_market_massacre for the incident

The peacekeepers are there probably to prevent a second attack (they can't really stop an attack that has already happened tbf)

prefecture level protected monument, built in ming dynasty

Keep in mind there is dali city which is under dali prefecture. the Dali detachment is in charge of the whole prefecture, and almost certainly has the dali company for merely dali city.

Very short part of the clip but sad news

reportedly taipinghu was already 30 years old

Also taipinghu is named after taiping lake, anhui, whose name means "peace lake". pretty ironic.

According to 里海赛艇 the taipinghu was likely decommissioned after chinese new year.

"Operation Net Clearing"(清网行动) was a nationwide operation led by the ministry of public security between May 26 to December 15, 2011 aimed to apprehend wanted fugitives; at the end of the operation, a total of 16 A class fugitives(most wanted) and 174 B class fugitives were arrested, along with 12,000 wanted murder suspects. However, sadly, during the operation, 21 officers(including MPS active service personnel, such as Major Chen) were killed in action nationwide.

In october 22, 2011, during the operation, the Baoshan border defense detachment learned that a wanted drug trafficker(surnamed Pai(排)) was hiding near Mukang village, Mangshi. At around 11:00 AM, Major Chen and the task force arrived at the location, and at around 11:30, Chen and fellow detectives noticed a man hiding in bushes near a hydropower station, which was the wanted drug trafficker; Chen instantly tackled the man, who began violently resisting; during the struggle, the two of them fell into the hydropower station where they both drowned. Their bodies were found at 12:20 that day.

Major Chen Xihua(陈锡华) was born September 1975 in Renhuai, guizhou, and was an alumni of Guizhou Normal University; He joined the Border defense corps in December 1994, and was assigned to the Baoshan border defense detachment's investigations(detective) team in 2005, where he became the commissar.

He is the recipient of two 2nd class meritorious service medals and two third class meritorious service medals; during his 17 years of service, he arrested 359 suspects and seized 468.1 KG of narcotics;

The ministry of public security border defense corps was an active service force of the MPS, which were People's armed police units subordinate to the public security system(e.g. Baoshan police in this case). After reforms in late 2018, the Baoshan border defense detachment is now the National immigration administration's baoshan border management detachment, and is no longer active service.

The unit is in charge of providing perimeter security to the Jiuquan satalite launch center and Dongfeng landing site along with search and rescue for astronauts after their return to earth.

Even though "交通支队" literally means "transportation detachment" this is the proper translation apparently.

So yeah, they are called road construction detachments(and battalions). presumably the defunct "transport command" and "transport corps" are actually called the road construction command and road constriction corps(plural). Which is pretty funny, as now they don't construct roads that much anymore, and are more of disaster relief/rescue units who also conduct emergency repair of roads. Furthermore, they also were originally used to build bridges, tunnels and repair airports etc.
