Ron is an embarrassment
He is an important dynamic to the show, I get that but he's just an embarrassing interaction. I'm watching S1E9 James Rolf High School twentieth reunion.
I don't feel sorry for Ron

I don’t know who that actress was but she nailed the thesis of the show so hard. It’s a funny show but it’s also brutally sad. Like you see these attractive capable people who could have had amazing careers in engineering or marketing or accounting or anything but instead they just decided to chase this ridiculous dream and now they’re basically play things for the elites. It’s a funny show that’s absolutely brutal when you think about it.

My first time watching the series as it aired, when Ron pissed his pants upon realizing that the gun pointed at him was real, made me glad that karma finally caught up with him.
But the further the show went on and the more his character was developed, the more you can't help but root for him as he struggles to be the best version of himself.

I think he’s so loveable. Thought he was gonna be an antagonist at the start of the show but O really do root for him

Here lies Ronald Wayne Donald.
-
Repeated first grade because he couldn’t figure out scissors.
-
First in his class to master a keg stand.
-
Partied for 20 years.
-
Ran a soup place for 5 months.
-
Never did anything, never won anything.
It didn’t matter. Now he’s dead, and nobody cares.

I don’t know how Ken Marino does it, but I want Ron to win so badly. I wanted Ron’s Soup R Crackers to be the most successful non-poultry, non smoothie franchise in Southern California.

S1 Ron is a tragic character, he’s made an actual effort to become sober and try and run a proper company so he can work towards his dreams and he just gets shits on repeatedly to the point where he full blown relapses back into the worst version of himself
But there’s also something darkly hilarious about a punching bag character where absolutely nothing can go right.
