Questions Park Matching
Hi all, sorry if this has been asked before. I was hoping to put in my application this November for a direct hire LE position with the NPS. With the recent changes in the hiring process, how does the park matching process work? What decides on where you’re sent off to?
I’m a current seasonal non LE NPS employee. No law enforcement experience or bachelors degree (associates in May) but I do have my EMT-B. If that means anything. Thank you for your help!

It seems the precise process has varied pretty considerably between hiring sessions, I'm guessing because they're still looking for the exact method they like. In my group we got a list of available parks and we're interviewed about what we were looking for and other circumstances that would effect us. They then look at your background and the needs of the parks and basically try to make everyone happy.
When I went through it seemed everyone in my class was happy with where they were going and they basically got what they asked for. There's a lot of vacancies right now so you probably going to get something you like as long as you're seen as a good match.

They give you options. You pick your fav. They try to match. Park gets to look at your stats. If the park wants you cool. Otherwise you get offered a park. Take it or leave it.

You want an LE position with no experience and hope that your application is streamlined through because you worked a season? 😂. I'm 15 years into the field and it took me 8 years before I was hired on full time. Certs and experience means nothing. Military vets get first pick. Regardless of your skills. Get in line and wait. Knowing park superintendents and supervisor LE rangers doesn't do anything for you. I have wild lands firefighting, EMT, high line, swift water rescue, wilderness first aid, CDL (A/B), boat certifications and deputized. With all that under my belt it took an additional 5 years to get hired on full time. Even then it was rough. Join the military or don't try at all. Down vote if you have to. I'm speaking from 2000% experience in the field with a bachelor's degree.
