Genuinely, look into off brand ones. Theres some with better ventilation built in and everything. The ones I got are on Amazon from the brand "Foamy Lizard." Worth every penny. If you don't want that seto kaiba aesthetic.
Almost pulled the trigger on that one but decided against it. Lots of mid gamss have great controllers like the Starfield Xbox series controller. It's beautiful.
I don’t care for the design of these anyway, it’s more about the principle. I got my PS5 on launch day and between stopping support for the OG models, the disc thing, and forcing most of the studios to waste their time on live service shit this whole console generation has been like getting kicked in the nuts over and over again.
That's why I can't see myself getting a PS6 anytime soon after it comes out. They're going to release the games on PS5 probably and the online will be cross console compatible anyways
Luckily (I guess...) this console generation is probably going to be long af because of all the shortages, they might actually have enough time left to turn it around in terms of first party titles. The live service push has been their biggest crime imo, which also led to so many studio closures.
I also have an OG, what do you mean we have the best model? I just learnt from this thread that they stopped support and that sounds very fucky, I am a little afraid that if something bad comes up I am fucked
The original fat models have a built in disc drive that doesn't rely on external servers to activate it. You don't have to worry about the disc drive turning into a brick down the road (for software reasons, anyway).
At least there are official Spiderman 2 plates and those are probably some of the best they’ve made. Still sucks they basically abandoned the OG models shape though.
Yeah I hate myself for not getting some of the transparent dark plates. I kept telling myself to wait until I was more stable but now they’re impossible to get
To be fair, this has always been the case with consoles. They don’t manufacture the original PS5 any longer, and so the manufacturing process is based around supporting their current model. It is what it is, and it’s not new and not specific to Sony.
I also have a launch PS5, and while I have a lot of issues with Sony this is not the place where they’re telling me to go fuck myself. They are telling me to go fuck myself with everything else they do lol
They could just allow other companies to make the plates for the original ones then instead of the bewildering decision to sue accessory makers into fucking oblivion
They did sue and dbrand had to change their design a little so it wasnt exactly the same shape as the ps5. I managed to snag plates before that, but the newer ones look good too.
Early adopters at least got the best version of the console. Ali express still makes plates for the original model, which is what I used and are pretty good quality
while i fully think they should also keep releasing new hardware accessories for the original PS5, i learned since the PS3 to always wait until they release their slim models to keep getting full console support until they release the next gen of playstation.
Do you think they are just fully open holes or you thinking it’s gonna be clear plastic? As cool as it is to have the claw marks look like actual claw marks I feel like it will just get so much more dust in the fan than normal means, especially if you have it on its side
I've been saying that since the PS5 Spider-man 2 covers, and we are almost near the end of the PS5 cycles and we have only 6 unique covers so far. I hate that they put out the GOW Ragnarok bundle and the console is just a standard ass PS5 without any unique cover, smh.
I remember when the switch 2 released and Facebook marketplace was littered with scalpers. Then like a month later Nintendo pumped shitloads of stock everywhere and those Facebook listings just sat there. I hope Sony does something similar and just makes a bunch of them to counter the scalpers.
Clearly tons of people or there wouldn't be such a massive market for it. If they were left holding the ball they'd stop. The fact they continue to do so makes it clear they're profiting to a point where it's beneficial to continue such behavior.
Let's be real. The guys who are first to say they will never buy from a scalper are the first to line up to buy from a scalper. They just don't want others to know.
Anecdotal, but personally I've found it's mainly parents buying things for their kids. Most people spending their own money won't bother because of the higher costs but with birthday or Christmas presents getting the gift is the priority.
That Adamantium edition looks dope. I've been wanting new cover plates for my PS5 Pro. I'm debating if I want to get the controller too to go with my Spider-man 2 dual sense.
Yikes, the plates on their own cost about 30% of what I paid for my PS5, couple of sheets of ABS plastic for $75? Sony have really shown their greed this year
Don't love the consoles. PS5 limited editions haven't been very good. But the yellow controller is something I would love and care for. Me want that for sure.
its unfortunate that as a day one PS5 owner they do not make any special plates for that one. but this is a super cool looking color and design at least.
I've got the inverse reaction to this that I did with Ghost of Yotei. Love this controller, don't like the plates. Wish they just went with the claw motif and didn't have the stencil of Wolverine himself.
This is all reminding me of when the Spider-Man limited edition PS4 Pro came out. It too was right around the time of a new God of War game and near the console’s end of life
Shit. I don’t need a 3rd PS5 but damn does that look nice. If the faceplates are available separately, might grab them for my pro. I want that controller too but I haven’t even opened my 30th anniversary controller yet cus I have too many damn controllers for 3 consoles.
Knowing that scarcity has increased the price of systems maybe they could have just released limited edition face plates and controllers and saved the cost of new bundles (packaging, sku, etc.).

Disappointed that they didn't use the same indentation design like they used for the Yotei controller. Seemed like the perfect opportunity to add some deep claw marks on it. That one still remains the best one to date, in terms of detail at least.

Not gonna buy a whole new ps5, but, does anyone know if they are selling the controller separately and where to buy it? That I do want. Not the console/controller bundle though.
I was waiting so long for Pro plates that I ended up ordering anniversary edition plates from that typical e-commerce app based in China. Look awesome and fit without a problem.
Sony’s laziness/arrogance has probably cost them a lot of sales like mine.
