This year's grow...and a first time bud wash

Thumbnail

After 4 days in trim jail, finally done. Two plants, both Blue Dream.

This was my first year trying a bud wash. Both plants had some bud rot (always on the biggest bestest buds, of course). Not from caterpillars, but from a very foggy summer here in Northern California. The bud wash definitely adds time to the process, but I used the hydrogen peroxide version, which is supposed to kill mold. I tossed the sections of bud rot, because my kids smoke it and I don't want to take chances. But I did like the idea of doubling down and killing any latent mold spores that I may have missed.

Took me 4 days to trim, wash and hang out here in my workshop/art studio. It's unheated and not insulated, but the weather is expected to be perfect high 60's over the next several days. It's my 4th year growing, and I'm hoping it's the best.

We honestly don't even smoke it. Used to, but kinda prefer my wine now. But I'm a long time vegetable gardener, and am really having fun with the challenge. It's definitely the hardest thing I grow!

What’s the most beautiful strain you’ve ever grown or seen?

When I was a teenager, my friends loved looking at lowrider car magazines.

I was more interested in looking at beautiful plants.

What is the most visually impressive strain you've grown or seen?

This is a ICC (its what I was told) that started to flower aug 15. Going past the 8-9 week harvest time is fine? I've noticed most of the resin glands (where the pistils come out) have turned a purple/pinkish. At the same time under magnification some of those tips are turning brownish. Looked deeper and all is healthy. Is that a concern I should worry about?!

Potato peel powder as an amendment?

Has anyone tried using potato peels as a fertilizer? They’re supposedly better than banana peels so I’m thinking I’ll just make it into a powder and mix in my soil or maybe make a homemade top dress with it.

You’re not suppose to use green potato peels or ones with a bunch of sprouts because apparently the solanine can be toxic.

Motorbreath #15 outdoor grow here in SE coastal Massachusetts. Week 10.5 of flower. Night temps between 37°f to mid 40's. Daytime temps low to mid 50's. Everything I read says I should harvest her before 11 weeks of flower for best results. This is my second year growing outdoors after a disasterous

Made the decision to chop her and start processing. The buds are much bigger than my first grow last year! I've put work in to stabilize our dry room so I'm hoping for a better quality finished product.

The Quebec Black Bud is still standing. Looking to chop her a little later this week. Happy harvest season!

Autoflower seeds question

I think I know the answer to this question, but I wanted to get the opinion of those with more knowledge.

Short intro, this is my first grow. Done outside in 10 gallon pots with living soil.

The last autoflower I grew was a Wembley seed that someone gave me. I started it in middle July. Yield was poor but that was likely due to inexperience and the fact that I used cheap soil.

However, I was vaping some the other night and heard the classic 'seed pop' and thought "WTF" looked and there it was, a seed. So I checked and some of the buds have seeds.

Here is the question. I assume the plant hermed and I just didn't notice. The only other explanation is that it got pollinated from a nearby plant and I don't think that's it. No one else is growing in the yards adjacent for sure. But I'm not sure how far pollen can travel.

So is herming the most likely explanation? And, if so, if I understand the generics correctly, the seeds should also be Wembley autoflower seeds as well, correct?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Help please??!

so it’s around day 31 and this is how the plant is doing. the plant already had 2 distinct canopies naturally so i hadn’t done any prior topping to the one i just did today(saying this because some people thought i had already topped it). idk if i did it well cause i just topped above like the 4th or 5th node on both canopies and this is how it’s looking. the first photo is when it wasn’t topped, second is when i topped only one of the canopies and the rest is just how it’s looking after i topped both. please advice. also what do i do and do i have to do LST or maybe there is some other kind of training i need to adapt to to help the plant. thanks a lot🍃❤️.
ps: i’m in Ghana, west Africa and i also cut of some big fan leaves at the bottom that was blocking sunlight to some new leaves and some had some brownish burn like stuff so. i don’t have pictures of that though, sorry.

Dried for 14 days at 60%, trimmed and put them in jars a couple days ago. They're holding at 58% right away, do i need burp if they're already stable?

Feminized Seed Starts

Thumbnail

I gave some feminized seed starts to my buddy this season. He got them kinda late and planted around the end of July. He just threw them out back without much care and they did surprisingly well so I figured I'd share some pics 😁 he had some caterpillars but not much mold even though we got some rain. The strains are platinum pink runtz, noize candy, jager punch, jagermeister, jager cookiez, jagerschnitzel, and schnitzlemeister. He saved the plastic cups, use the name abbreviation for the pics that follow. The last pics are the double jager even tho the cup says jager its the schnitzlmeister aka double jager. Its super dark purple.

Sorry guys but I really can’t decide if she’s ready yet. The weather at night has been dipping into the lower 40f’s and some higher 30f’s. I know about the amber and milky trics but it’s really hard to decide to let it keep going. What do you guys think?
