Please use this post only to offer or request orchids for trade or sale. Before you post what you'd like to trade/sell, or what you're looking to trade for, read the rules below first!
Rules:
1.) No personal information can be exchanged publicly. Conduct sharing of addresses via pm or email.
2.) Post what orchid(s) you have for trade, what you're looking for in return. If you have pictures, post them or write an accurate description of the orchid you want to trade or sell. If you're selling, post how you'd like to receive compensation.
3.) If you agree to a trade and have an issue on your end of the deal, communicate! Most people are reasonable and will understand a delay or an unexpected issue that comes up. That being said, trade at your own risk. The moderators are not responsible for privately conducted trades gone wrong. However, if there's an issue with an ongoing trade do contact the moderators. If someone fails to come through with their end of the deal, ignores communication or otherwise is being problematic we need to make the community aware of deadbeat traders. Do NOT make posts calling people out, insulting, harassing, or making accusations at them publicly.
4.) Only make legal trades here. If you ship or receive a trade overseas or out of your country, make sure all proper paperwork is in place first if required.
5.) Ship within a reasonable time and pack well. Flat rate Priority, 2-3 day via USPS within the US is standard for plants. Use whichever shipping method is appropriate for other countries. Your orchid shouldn't spend more than a 2-3 days in the mail so they don't suffer too much from the heat/cold. While in cooler weather its generally better to ship orchids totally dry, its probably best to water any more moisture loving plants a day or two before they ship out (so they are moist but not soggy) or wrap some sphagnum that has been wetted but thoroughly squeezed out around the roots of bare root plants.
6.) If you've successfully traded, update your post to make sure it availability is accurate.
Giveaways, and just trying to re-home an orchid that maybe just isn't performing for you is totally fine to post too! You never know who might want to try growing it. Seed pods are also a great thing to offer since many people may want to try flasking and it is safer and easier to send seeds than plants. If everyone trades fairly this is a great way to add to your collection or get rid of orchids you are bored with or are willing to make divisions of.
Happy trading!

It might be silly to ask as most forms of species aren’t named but Vanda tricolor seams to have a lot of different recognised variations in the wild so I figure it’s worth a shot. They have both flowered next to each other so I doubt it’s anything to do with that and also they flowered about a week apart. The labelum is quite different between them both and the color and shape is pretty different as well.

Aerides odorata. They do have a noticeable smell up-close that I reminds me of aromatic ginger.

I’m a botanical watercolorist with a penchant for the unconventional…the weirder, the better. I especially enjoy creating unusual compositions and using subjects that are not immediately recognizable as flowers. Hence my fascination with orchids.
While waiting for my own orchids to bloom, I am in need of some close up photos of blooms for my work. If you‘d like to donate to the cause and provide some fantastic photos of your weirdest blooms, I‘d be so grateful!
If I end up using your photo as reference for one of my pieces, I will post the end result on this sub and tag you.
Pictured are a quick watercolor study and preliminary graphite sketch of Paphiopetalum Fairreanum, along with the corresponding reference photo—courtesy of Pixabay.
Happy Halloween! TIA 😊
*This is not a product or service promotion and the above pictured pieces are NFS. Just simply sharing my craft and love of orchids.

I bought this Cattleya orchid, and it came with this. What is it, and how can I get rid of it or protect the plant? I already cut off the affected parts of the main orchid.

it seems like the flower's moustache grew.... outside?? I've never seen that happen before, and certainly not in any of my 12 orchids

From what i remember tho, when this plant was given to us, its flowers were fully light pink. then ofc the flowers died off then this spike came up and produced these flowers with this patterning.
I think it looks beautiful, but good looks dosent always mean good health. is there anything wrong? or is this normal?

The roots I can see are papery and dead (you can kind of see one in pic 1. But she’s growing three new leaves and two new aerial roots. I’m resisting the urge to un pot and check it out and give it a trim, since it’s growing and seems fine otherwise?
The layer of moss is there because I was gone for two weeks and didn’t have anyone to go water her, I’ll be removing when I have time today unless yall think otherwise. And the droplets on the leaves are my spray fertilizer!

why is it just sprouting weird leaves and what do I do 😭

Okay so i got this a couple of months ago. I tried the planting in water techniques where you place 1/3 of the roots in water then dry it out then place it in water and vice verse. It was actually doing well got some blooming and some new leaves then idk what happened the blooming started falling and the leaves started one by one falling.
I just kept it in the same suitation then my friend told me to try orchid bark so i tried and there are new shoots coming out but i have no leaves what do you think is there something else i should try to do to make it survive. I have it facing my grow light next to my lavander because to my understanding they need bright light

I only just noticed these two things today... I’m not sure what to call them. The last photo shows a root and I’m usually quite good at identifying those, but these don’t look like roots to me, especially in terms of their color and shape.
I don’t think they’re flower stalks either, as I cut off the perfectly healthy stalks just two weeks ago because the thrips were swarming all over the flowers (it’s a Phalaenopsis Bronze Buddha). I was actually looking for thrips today when I spotted these two swellings. The lower one, in particular, seems to be slightly open at the top.
Has this ever happened to any of you?
Should I just wait a couple of weeks and see if they grow?

It's too bad the pink one has a broken petal and some brown-nose (grocery store handling), I really like the spider picture lol. Impressed the blooms are still holding though.

Hi guys,
I bought two regular, big, phalaenopsis orchids.
They are in bloom, thats how i got them like a week ago.
I want to repot them/ mount them on porous clay pottery, which I would fill with water.
I really like this idea, but does it really work??
I attach some reference I saw. (not my own pictures!)
Otherwise I would repot them in a seethrough pot again, but i read as well I should wait in either way until the blooming is finished, otherwise it drops tgem right away.
Am just worried about the “death plug” and would not like them to die.
Thank you!!

I have this orchid that was rescued from a bin. I’ve since repotted it and notice yesterday this new growth. Is it a new leaf? Can this orchid recover?

Ive had it for a year. They grow very fast! Its much happier not under a growlight too.
