First time making oats in ages. Just wanted a version that reminds me of the oats my mom made for me and my siblings growing up.
Tried it with jam for the first time in England earlier this year.
Honestly nearly cried just eating this cause it just felt comforting and warm.
10/10 will do again soon

when done right, i love oatmeal. so good. however if the ratios are off i‘m immediately off of it for weeks. if the oats are TOO intact it freaks me out.
what are your secrets to getting the perfect creamy texture for oatmeal? stovetop, instant, or otherwise. i want to make oatmeal more of a staple in my breakfast rotation.
& also your favorite toppings / mix ins for making low / no sugar oatmeal delicious (:

After a bunch of tries I finally found my perfect breakfast oatmeal.
I cook 60g oats with 200ml skimmed milk and some salt. Shortly before it's finished I add 5g powdered peanut. In the bowl I add 10g dark chocolate chips, that melt very nicely in the warm oatmeal 🤤.
For the ratio, I might add some more powdered peanut, cause the taste can be quite subtle. But the melted chocolate chips are my new highlight.

I’m afraid it’s half eaten before I decided to take a picture.
Oats cooked with fresh lemon zest/ juice + white choc flavour drops. Cooled and let thicken in the fridge overnight.
In the morning I added a dash of boiled water and some lemon cheesecake flavoured protien yogurt and stirred it in. Topped with the rest of the lemon yogurt, fresh mango (mango season here in Australia!) + granola (because I love the crunch and texture it provides)

I’ve been making this one daily for about a week. My healthy version has chopped spinach, cannellini beans, and cottage cheese mixed into steel-cut oats, topped with grated Parmesan, nonfat Greek yogurt, crumbled (turkey) bacon, and a couple of over-medium eggs on top. I’m going to get myself some artichoke hearts to throw in there for next time. Don’t skip the yogurt; the lactic acid tang is what takes the flavor from “spinach” to “spinach dip”
If you want to make it more indulgent, top the oats with some mozzarella or Gruyère cheese and run it under the broiler, and use sour cream instead of the Greek yogurt.

Chocolate overnight oats topped with coffee protein pudding and homemade refined sugar-free chocolate fudge sauce. This was so good; chocolate and coffee really is the perfect combo 🤌 Only drawback was that the pudding wasn't as thick as I wanted it to be.

I love the idea of overnight oats but never made them! What are your favorite healthy recipes?
(Good macros, not high in sugar outside of fruits)
Also I dislike PB 😅

Following the instructions exactly on the back my quacker oats were watery, not thickened, and basically was eating warmed up flat oats and not oatmeal like it is with bobs red mill. What did I do wrong? How do I get it to be more like oatmeal?

I have been eating quaker instant oatmeal for years and about 3 months ago I noticed that the oatmeal was chewy hard and gluey in texture-it didnt taste bad at all just a completely different texture.I had about 5 boxes all the same My new boxes are now so fluffy and thick and fills up an entire bowl where as the other ones didnt even fill half way.. I cooked it the same way with the same amount of water - I know extra starch can release if there is a swift in the oats but just seems strange that two completely different tastes in the same product-I googled and just said that yes there is a change in the way they are processing oats but u never know with google- Has anyone else experienced this should I be worried _im good at worrying!

I bought these recently and I haven't been able to cook them right. I've tried letting them soak overnight, using the microwave and cooking instructions, but they get super mushy. Almost like very wet cereal that's been sitting on milk for too long.
How can I prepare this so they can be slightly chewy?

My usual oatmeal (regular & steel cut oats, chia, flax, vegan protein powder, frozen kale cause it's flavorless, and bananas, strawberries and wild blueberries) topped with roasted chickpeas, chopped nuts, date, and prune ☺️
