Hi fellow Norwegian Forest Cat owners!

Yesterday, I shared a photo of my 2-year-old NFC, Leia, for the first time, and I was surprised by how much love she received!

It got me thinking: could the power of Reddit actually help us find some of her relatives?

Leia's registered pedigree name is Eastcroft Hexworthy, and we got her from a lovely breeder in Devon, UK. Her dad is Copernicus Ziggy of Eastcroft (Ziggy), and her mum is Vontemor Maiden of Shiloh (Morgan).

We also have her five-generation pedigree, which includes quite a few award-winning show cats and names from other catteries, including Noynarock, Zelandoni, and Carchristeykatt.

So, if you have a Norwegian Forest Cat, especially one with any of these names in their pedigree, I'd love to hear from you! Maybe our cats are long-lost siblings or cousins. We'd be happy to compare family trees!

We're based in Bath, UK, so who knows, perhaps we'll even get to meet some of Leia's extended family someday :)

She's a night princess and her active hours are mainly between like 20:00 to 09:00. I fell asleep early, before 21:00 and she wasn't really pleased. Pestered my husband all night, which is unusual, she's kind of my little companion 🥰

Not a favorite of the early wake up call, though, especially since she decided to go to sleep after I'd been up for 10 minutes 🤨 What about the cuddling?? Was it worth it to wake me up just to go to bed herself?!

He makes some weird noise while he sleeps sometimes. It can sound like a squeak, a whistle or a purr. And yes he's doing the paw twitches.

Hello! My girl is a two year old NFC and I got her as a rescue from a Vet!
I've started noticing she often gets mats around her face and neck area and I comb them out everyday.
Is this normal? What can I do to help her? The mats are not painful but they really are constant, like I brush her and ten minutes later there's a mat.
Should I trim her fur? How?
Help please! I want her to be happy!

Hi, I’m in NC and came across Dragens Hule Cattery. The website says they’re CFA and TICA certified but I don’t see them when I search.

The lady seems nice though and has offered for us to come see the kittens and also meet the parents.

Anyone have any experience with this cattery? TIA!

I didn’t know about NFC’s until my girlfriend told me yesterday. This whole time I thought he was a Yankee but turns out he’s much more of a badass than that. He’s 13 and his name is Wolf

my sweet little cosmo is turning into a sweet little monster!! he's just had another little growthspurt and is taking his newfound access to things very seriously. he's 1 year and 2 months old.

he seems to have more energy now than he ever has and no amount of play is enough. i've also spent a lot of play sessions trying different toys that he shows no interest in and he goes back to his mischievous antics. i've been feeling like a terrible mother because i can't figure out what to do with him to keep him entertained.

we rotate his toys too and try to play with him in all different ways. ive been thinking of hiding bits of kibble around for him to find but i got him one of those puzzle balls you put treats in and he wasn't interested at all.

what do i do!!

Hello there! Meet my two new darlings, brother and sister, fast asleep in their new home 😁 Though I have taken care of cats almost all my life, they are my first NFCs and my first cats with long or longer fur.

And if I still have your attention: Do you have any advice concerning brushes and brushing? The big red one unfortunately is an absolute magnet for twigs, leaves and all other types of botanical debris. He isn't a fan of me brushing his fur to get everything out though. Will he get used to it or are there certain types of brushes that are better suited for rheir fur than others?

This is Tribble. I love her dearly. Most people who meet her gasp and say, "ohhh! she's sooooo pretty and floofy!"

I am looking into getting a new cat soon, and debating between a couple breeds. If anyone has experience with both, I’d love to get some feedback, pros and cons, etc.

I previously had a Maine Coon, who passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly. He was awesome, and i loved the breed a lot. I think the NFCs look beautiful and seem to have some similarities so I’m exploring that breed a little too.

I live alone, work away from home most days but am around mornings, evenings, and weekends - normal lifestyle of in and out of the house.

Some questions… what have you enjoyed with one breed over the other?

Social needs… are NFCs comfortable alone or do they need the level of social interaction MCs do?

Any advice or thoughts are appreciated!

Hi! I’m new to the NFC world. I have another cat (European Shorthair) who has never had any issues with his manual litter box. However, this girl is having trouble with her tail getting dirty I think it's because the current one is not big enough (I have to clean her almost once a week!). I’m planning to upgrade to an automatic litter box and would love some recommendations!

The white , his name is ghost after Jon Snow's dire wolf Ghost is 5 months old and his bloodline is straight from the original bloodline in Europe and he comes from a highly respected and award winning breeder. The other is Freyja and she was rescued from a breeder mill in TN and is about 7 years old.
