User Flair and UTC time zone
In order to help people know where each other is speaking from we are adding a user flair option that shows your UTC time zone. Hopefully people find this as a useful tool.
What is the UTC time zone? Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) is the primary time standard globally used to regulate clocks and time. It establishes a reference for the current time, forming the basis for civil time and time zones. UTC facilitates international communication, navigation, scientific research, and commerce.
How do I find my UTC? Visit Timeanddate.com and put your location in the search bar. It will tell you the current time for your location, UTC time zone, and a bunch of other information about your location.
Wondering if another user is close to you? If their UTC + or - time is close to yours than you are close to each other.

I was running out of cigs so I went to grab a new pack at 6 am.
because i don't go to bed til 8-9 am and...well..can't have no cigs esp to wake up to with my coffee at 4pm. i rarely run out im not a heavy smoker so at 6 am i am seldom outside and it makes me forget that allot (allllot) of people are actually walking out the door heading to work at that time.
it almost shocks me. i could never be in bed @ 9-10 pm and up at 5am to be out the door at six. day life and early am life are not for me - full respect to those who work those hours - but i was just walking to the bodega and seeing all these people from my building and others just...making their way to their jobs.
im grateful i can live on the hours i (choose and want) to - but i just can't even imagine those hours - more specifically to have to work or get up to go to work THAT early. I could work from midnight to 8 AM and be fine with it but ... 9-5 nooope.
idk this is a bit random (me entire post haha) but im wondering if any of my sleep all day up all night owls who *chose* to be nocturnal can relate to being tripped out by seeing the "machine" start to move at that hour when i a selllldoomm outside.

Night Owl Health Need help with sleep schedule.
Hi, this might sound stupid but it’s my first ever Reddit post, and I desperately need some help cuz I might have to pick up a job for now with awful working hours.
I would have to work from 5am - 2pm, which seem like torture cuz I never worked anything other than night shifts before and I’m worried I won’t manage.
My sleep schedule so far has been me going to bed around 9am and sleeping till about 4pm. I would have to basically change my whole sleep schedule, and find something I can work with for at least couple of months till I can pick up a night shift again.
I thought maybe i could try to push it around somehow, maybe I could manage waking up even later and going to sleep after work but idk if that’s a good idea or if it’s just gonna make me miserable and exhausted.
Any thoughts, ideas? Anything is greatly appreciated.

Haven’t slept in two nights
Just laying here.
Quit cold turkey and doing the hard thing.
Doing it for my family.
These sleepless nights won’t last forever..

Midnight crisis(i misspelled this one 6 times already while writing this)
If you’re awake right now, congratulations: we’re both losing the battle against screen time

Challenges?
What have been some of the hardest things you’ve dealt with being a night them person? Do people make assumptions about your lifestyle because you function better at night? I’ve had people claim I’m lazy but I just live at a different time. Would love some stories and how you overcame the stigma of being a nights person!

Can’t sleep
It’s almost morning. I haven’t slept all night for nothing. I’m usually up when i’m having a friend over or texting with my crush but like why did my brain decide to keep me awake on this random ahh day. Actually worse because I need to move out tomorrow, so it’s pretty bad timing to be unrested.

Midnight Thoughts Like I just truly started to fear like nighttime. For the first time in my life.
I was a kid. I truly never felt fear but now it’s like cause I’m outside now it’s like oh that’s that fear when the lights turn off.

Midnight Thoughts Bass-akwards?
I suspect the vast majority of the population is wired up that the 24 hour cycle starts when the sun rises. For me the day follows the night - not the other way around. My night really dictates how the following day is; night is the more impactful period.
I realize this is just a view since the day:night cycle is for all intents and purposes forever.
Where does your circle/cycle begin "gut wise" - I know how we've been programmed but what does your body (not head) feel?

Midnight Thoughts Very Unhappy at Night
I get so melancholy at night. It will either cause me to stay up, or give me nightmates so I have to get up.
I don't want this tired sadness anymore. I don't want to feel useless and old, but that's how I feel. The memories of when staying up late was fun and adventurous are torment now. Daytime is just a slog to sleep through, even though I have daytime stuff I want to do. Need to do.
I'm so tired. So, so tired...
