ANSWERED How do I approach moderators when some moderators don't accept messages?

I'm finding it hard to navigate because I want to be active in the community and am trying to post to boards like r/advice, but my post was taken down by reddit's filter. It doesn't give me a notification under the bell explaining it. I have 11 comment karma. I thought I could post to a forum like that without it getting taken down.

Hi, you do have 11 total karma, but that split is made up of just 1 Post karma and 10 Comment karma. You can see your karma split on your profile page under the “about” tab on the app. It’s likely that the sub has higher karma requirements, and may require more than one post karma in order to post to their page. Also, your account is just four days old and they may have an account age minimum requirement that you are also not meeting. Those are two of the three most common Reddit filters, here is some more info for you:

You were able to post here because this is a “help“ sub that has no restrictions on karma, account age or CQS. Many of the subreddits on the platform do have some or all of these restrictions or filters in place.

Many subs use three filters to determine if a post will be accepted or rejected. Similar, though often lower criteria, for making comments as well. Each sub is an individual community with its own rules, moderation, and minimum requirements for participation.

The three filters are:
- Minimum karma requirement: That could be a small amount such as 10 to 20, a moderate amount of karma required such as 100 to 250, or a large amount of karma to post such as 500 to 1000+. Requirements are usually less for making comments rather than posts. A smaller amount of subs have no karma requirement, such as this one, which is why you were able to post here.

- Account age minimum requirement: subs might require a user’s account to be a few days old, one to two weeks old, one to two months old, etc for full participation. You can’t hurry the age of your account, but you can and should build karma in the meantime.

- CQS minimum rating: many subs use “moderate“ or better to filter posts. You can check your CQS here: r/WhatIsMyCQS A CQS level of “low or “lowest“ may prevent you from posting, DM or chat functions. Verifying your email can help, often quickly. LMK if you want info on verifying your email.

Just like every new user, you need to start off by establishing your Reddit reputation and build karma. The only way you increase your karma is when other users upvote your comments, and later, your posts. You can avoid the frustration of having many posts and comments removed by starting out by commenting, rather than posting at first, at new user friendly subreddits with low to no karma requirements such as those on this list.

Finally, if this post gets removed, it won’t be because of your karma or account age. You asked a FAQ when the rules of this sub state to read the FAQs before making a new post. Always read the rules to every sub you want to post or comment in. That’s another common reason why posts may be removed. HTH.
