Hey everyone! I wanted to share a spreadsheet tool I use to quickly generate hulls: RapidHullGenerator.
Have you run into the same problems?
With RapidHullGenerator, you only need to enter a relatively small number of keypoints to:
For historical ships, you can build a base hull from available dimensions such as length, beam, draught, and partial hull-form references.
For original designs, you can quickly experiment with hull proportions and curves in the spreadsheet before importing the result into NavalArt and continuing the build.
The tool runs in Google Sheets. Feedback, bug reports, and suggestions are all welcome!

What is the point of this?
For the purposes of giving credit to who it is due, I have changed the “Gallery” flair to “Original Content” and “Remixed Content.” Please ensure that you are all using these tags for your builds. The other tags remain the same, but I would also like to request that you tag your questions, bug reports, and memes as applicable.
Original Content
For any builds that you have built by yourself. Should be pretty self explanatory. If you used small parts for detailing, it should be fine up to a point that is reasonable.
Remixed Content
For any builds using major parts from the workshop or other sources that you did you build yourself, please use this flair.
Tag and / or link the sources for your build base in either the description or comment section of your post.

Bourrienne (1943, post-refit)
[Armament]
Shortly after the fall of France, Bourrienne joined the Free French Naval Forces alongside her consorts. Continuous ammunition resupply was essential to sustain combat operations, yet obtaining supplies from the French mainland was impossible. Consequently, in 1943, she underwent a major refit ahead of her fellow warships to transition to readily available American weaponry; her remaining stockpiles of French ammunition were redistributed to other vessels in the fleet.
While US license-production lines were eventually established for her 130 mm main battery and 100 mm high-angle shells, her original 37 mm autocannons and 13.2 mm machine guns were completely removed. In their place, she was fitted with a total of 48 Bofors 40 mm/56 AA guns in a mix of twin and quadruple mounts, along with twenty-one twin 20 mm/70 Oerlikon mounts (42 guns total). Additionally, an SG surface-search radar and a CXAM-1 air-search radar were installed on her forward bridge superstructure.

Hey! You!
Have you tried to make a custom turret (as the devs suggested) using the new part synchronization system, only to realize they meant "turn a deck gun into a turret" and been grossly disappointed by the desync between multiple guns on the same base not facing the same way? Well look no further! It is possible, it is only moderately difficult, and there IS a tutorial!
Benefits to this method include:
-Entirely Vanilla!
-Smug Aura from flexing your skills!
-Greater detail on how much armor a small-gun turret gets!
-Actually Factually Works!
-Now with less jank, credit to u/Anticlrebodev3 who has informed me that you can disable the traverse entirely by going into the fire-art editor and telling it "no traverse!" which removes the need for putting guns on their side.

Detriments (unfortunately):
-Limited to single guns only, preferably casemates! This means nothing larger than 6" until the devs get around to adding 7/8" casemate guns!
-Works best for symmetrical (twin, quad, triple, quadruple, etc) turrets! The Jank causing this preference has been removed!
-Jank as hell, until we can convince the devs to add a "No Traverse" toggle to a gun! Fixed!
With that disclaimer out of the way, let's get into it! This short tutorial will cover creating the turret and a few basic tips, but decoration is up to you!
First, choose what turret you want to make. Got it? In this case... I want to make a 5"/51 twin gun turret.

Second, choose a turret with the traverse stats that you want. It has to be an aimable turret (not AA), but any of 'em will work... probably, I haven't done much testing. Here, we'll go with the 127mm/25.

Then, we gotta squash it, using the PART SCALER.

Three, add your guns! Make sure to add them sideways. Do not add them rightside up or upside down. It will not work. Turning them sideways is the result of the jank you saw earlier, but also prevents them from traversing independently and causing worse jank that renders the turret nonfunctional. While you're at it, make sure the barrel of the base turret is obstructed in some way so that it doesn't fire. Make sure you go into the Angle of Fire editor and disable the traverse by setting every slice of the ciricle to red. This stops them from rotating independently.

And there we have it!

A technically functional turret! Now it's time for decoration, but that's an exercise I will leave up to the reader; I just spent several hours decorating the thumbnail turret, I'm not going to spend more decorating another one.
TIP TIME!
TIP NUMBER ONE! Stacking hull pieces will NOT automatically attach; you'll need to remove and re-add them.
TIP NUMBER TWO! There is a bug where copying a position onto a bound part will cause the copied object to later snap back when you add another part to the custom turret. To counteract that, leave and re-enter the Dock scene after pasting in the new position; I like to go into test mode and immediately leave it.
TIP NUMBER THREE! Use vertex hulls for the turret, and make sure to have other turrets nearby for references.

Hey guys,
If you remember Battleship Craft on iOS (build a ship out of blocks, then sail it into battle), it's been gone for years, and I missed it enough to start making my own version for Android. It's called Infinite Navy.
You design the hull block by block, fit boilers, propellers and rudders, and arm it with anything from 25mm AA mounts and 5"/38 twins up to 460mm Type 94 turrets. Then you take it to sea. The physics is where I've spent most of my time:
- Ships heel out of turns and roll in the swell. Build too tall and narrow and she'll capsize
- Flooding is per compartment. Get holed along one side and you'll list, and eventually go down
- Shells land where you aim them, with real ranges (25mm ~5 km, 460mm ~20 km)
- Torpedoes run submerged and only leave a line of bubbles
- Depth charge racks for submarines, plus fittings like bedspring and dish radars and a Mk 37-style director that tightens your gun spread while it's intact
There are 14 missions so far (night raids, convoy hunts, a dreadnought fight, a sea fort), and a Marketplace where you can sell your designs to other players.
**Why I'm posting:** Google Play makes new developers run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before a game can be released publicly. I'm a few people short, and I'd much rather have people who care about warships than random testers. You'd notice when a destroyer handles like a brick.
**What it takes:**
Join the testers group: https://groups.google.com/g/infinite-navy-testers
Opt in on Google Play: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.infinitenavy.game
Install it and play now and then over the next two weeks
It's free, needs no account or email (you play as a guest), and works offline for missions. Android 10 or newer, 64-bit phones. There's an optional gold pack purchase in the game, but you don't need it to test.
Any feedback is welcome, especially on how the ships handle and anything that feels unrealistic. There's a bug report button in Settings, or just reply here.
Thanks, and I'm happy to answer questions about how any of it works.

hull used is vader's french battleship hull linked here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3301957601
So as part 3 to my oblivion class rework I am showing the different refits the 3 ships got in the missile age.
Dragonborn is missing here as I did 2 separate posts on that one already linked here and will also show original configuration of the ships.
https://www.reddit.com/r/NavalArt/s/Wpjc5CcsmM
https://www.reddit.com/r/NavalArt/s/v8l5zSmS5V
So this post is showing the refits to Alduin and Oblivion which received their missile refits before Dragonborn and so both aren't as well equipped.
Alduin in pictures 1 and 2 has the least work done of the 3 ships with only 2 twin arm launchers added between the forward funnels port and starboard losing almosy all anti-aircraft weapons on the forward superstruture to do so.
Then Oblivion in the rest of the photos has an in-between of Alduin and Dragonborn refit, Oblivion gets exocet on her quarterdeck and aft supperstruture around funnel 3.
The SAM's used this time is Sea Sparrow in 4 box launchers that didn't require as much modifications to the conventional Anti-aircraft forward compared to alduin although the quarterdeck is down most of it's anti-aircraft.

Basically I'm trying to get 102mm VC guns to auto-fire on aircraft, but if I set them to auto in F3 they do nothing in-game, even when I use X to select the targets. Is there something I am missing to make them fire on enemy aircraft automatically, or is it not possible?

I've been trying to use the new part synchronization system to create a custom three-gun 140mm turret. However, in testing, I've found that one of the following things happens; Either the casemates de-sync from the shrunken turret base, or, if I lock the rotation, they simply don't move, staying facing forwards. Is there a way to fix this, or is my idea cooked?

NOTE!
I have figured out how to make it work, here's my tutorial post.

Hello i'm trying to build a fictional ship my Brother drew, i'm new to navalART and having a really hard time to build the ship, and make It balanced, could someone do It and then post It Steam Workshop?
Basically the background Is the port dockyard, so don't mind that, not even the smaller ships in front of the big ship.

This Bireme is based on the early period of the Roman Republic, pre-Punic Wars (330 BC to 263 BC). This ship would have clashed with regional powers such as the Etruscans in Northern and Central Italy, Greek Colonies in southern Italy and Sicily, and, later, Carthage before the Battle of Drepanum in 249 BC, which caused the Republic to shift its doctrine away from traditional naval battles after a crushing defeat against Carthage.

Trying to mix WW2 german armament with a WW1 style aesthetic, so far this is coming well, stern needs some work and i need to decorate, plus add a lot more AA. As for the name, Konan is a hold in, im probably gonna change it.

Bourrienne (1937)
[Armament]
The 130 mm/45 caliber quadruple rapid-fire gun—which saw operational adoption only as a secondary/anti-aircraft battery on the Dunkerque-class battleships due to performance concerns—forms the basis for the Bourrienne. This design concept envisioned a light cruiser intended to counter Italian light cruisers, with a projected commissioning date of 1937.
While boasting a hull size comparable to a heavy cruiser at 197 m in length and 20.1 m in beam, her basic structure was essentially a scaled-up version of the La Galissonnière-class light cruiser. Driven by a four-shaft propulsion system, she was projected to achieve a maximum trial speed of 37.5 knots, aided by her slender hull.
Her main battery consists of six quadruple 130 mm turrets—split evenly between bow and stern—totaling an extraordinary 24 guns for a modern warship. Torpedoes are launched from four twin 550 mm launchers (8 tubes total), while six twin 100 mm/45 dual-purpose gun mounts (12 guns total) are equipped for close-in surface engagement.
Driven by the evolution of naval aviation and the demand for close-range air defense, she was also armed with eight twin 37 mm/50 autocannon mounts (16 guns total) and sixteen quadruple 13.2 mm Hotchkiss machine gun mounts (64 guns total). Combined with her dual-purpose main guns, this vessel could well be considered a pioneer of the anti-aircraft cruiser.

Ship used is the advanced Preset Tillman 4 by LeoProZ
So A few months ago I decided to add the Tillman 4 design to my mercenaries lore.
This originally was supposed to just be a secondary rearm then in lore I was going to have the ship be scrapped by the London treaty... however I found my Queen Anne's Mansion I made for my oblivion and Vilkas class ships fits on the hull...
So I chose to make a rebuild version as well which uses the queen Anne's Mansion i mentioned as well as a secondary tower I made for the Vilkas class.
The rebuild also cuts the stren back and extends the aft deck slightly to cover the aft centerline casement and the aft turrets get shifted so the secondary tower fits.
The weaponry outside the main guns also changed with 4.5 inch BD's added, which had several reconfigs over the course of the process with the fire arc editer being the final key to getting what I wanted out of it.
As normal for my rebuilds I added 40mm and 20mm guns over the ship but not as much as others I have done.
No real lore has been made for this ship outside if the mercenaries get it and then rebuild it in the late 30's.

I was working on an early Roman Republic Bireme, and when looking into lateen sails, I learned that I have been doing furled sails for the time wrong. My idea for many of these sails is that, when not in use, the sail was lowered down and the boom that held it stayed up like what you would see on large sailing ships, but the more likely, realistic outcome is that the entire boom, along with the sail, is taken down by a pulley when not in use. The deck would have been messy, full of rigging, booms, and rolled-up sails (if the sails were kept on deck). These ships would operate on oars only during battle, so the men on deck throwing javelins and shooting arrows would have to contend with the ship's rigging in the heat of battle. The Greeks kinda solved this with the invention of larger ships like the trireme by setting the sails and booms between the oarsmen than adding cat walks above their heads. Going back to the Roman times, they likely would have had the oarsmen below deck in the hulls and kept as much of the sails and booms as close to the mast as possible to give space for the fighting men on deck.

I came to the conclusion that the larger hull was more fit for 8 x 15" guns rather than the original 10 x 13.5" guns. Wanted to post for potential feedback, and update on the design. Thank you!

La Houle (1944, post-refit)
[Armament]
After joining the Free French Naval Forces, La Houle faced severe supply constraints for her original French armament, with no prospect of returning to her homeland in sight. While ammunition for her 130 mm main battery was successfully secured through Allied license production, the supply of high-consumption anti-aircraft ammunition was projected to fall critically short. Consequently, she underwent a major refit in the United States in 1944.
Her original 37 mm autocannons and 13.2 mm machine guns were completely stripped. To drastically bolster her air defense, she was fitted with twenty-four twin 20 mm/70 Oerlikon mounts (48 guns total). Furthermore, her aft torpedo launcher was removed—halving her torpedo capacity—to make room for four quadruple 40 mm/56 Bofors mounts (16 guns total) slaved to Mk 51 fire-control directors, granting her exceptionally high anti-aircraft capability. Additionally, an SG surface-search radar was installed at the masthead, alongside an SK-2 air-search radar atop the bridge.

Im at an impasse here... Im making a fictional Royal Navy super-dreadnought in the 1910-1914 time span. She is just over 200 metres long, and is armed with 5 x 2 13.5" guns. However, im not quite sure on how to make her layout. I have two options above, but am open to suggestions. The first is more in line with the real RN super-dreads, but due to the fact that there isn't any machinery space behinf the Q turret, i also have the second option.
What do you think fits best? Any feedback is very welcome!
r/NavalArt • u/Short_Ad_9524 • 6d ago
Not sure what to class her as, though? She is on a British Heavy Cruiser hull, but has two twin 15" main guns and can do a max speed of 36.9 knots. Pocket Battlecruiser??
It's all vanilla parts (Not sure if modded parts will work?)
