Why not 29$ upgrade or free for Komplete U/CE owners?

Because NI desperately tries to squeeze what ever profits they can. They don't seem to understand that Arturia giving free updates to Pigments, makes customers happy and thus they are more likely to buy the new products they introduce.
Updating a vst to make it more appealing to new customers is wise. Trying to get customers already owning the thing to pay is desperate.

Because NI stopped being loyal to their loyal customers. The Komplete upgrade price changes clearly show that, same with the $99 upgrade ($199 new) from Absynth 5 to Absynth 6.

yeah I am not paying $50 to upgrade a synth that they already abandoned once lol.
I bought Pigments 4 and have not paid a single dime for any of the upgrades. Love NI, but the $49 upgrade price tag made this an instant pass for me.

The only way to own these things is to own Komplete, tbh. If you're buying anything NI "on its own", you've done it wrong.

I agree, especially when there are other sonically similar choices that are newer, like Cube, Pigments, Modwave, many of the Rob Papens, & more im forgetting right now. I dont buy NI anymore. What i have had in Kontakt 8 is fine, but i trust other companies more these days. How a company handles their IT/ customer service says a lot about them

I started with Pigments 3 and got that for 49,- in a sale. All those free updates convinced me to go with Arturia, so I ended up buying both the synth and the effects bundle. Seeing what NI is doing here, I'm no longer surprised that they went bankrupt. They've surely lost a lot of customers when they charge 49 to 99 for such minor updates or or abdone their classics.

I abandoned it when I still can't get the damn thing installed on a Mac without disabling the Mac's security settings. It's ridiculous. No, I am not 'granting you full disk acess' or your background daemon. Fix it - everyone else has.

I am one of the DOZENS of people who actually like Massive X, so this looks really good. Massive X is a fantastic soft synth with a middling UI, especially compared to Pigments.
However, if you are listening InMusic. I am not giving you 49$ for this because, if I do, I am basically robbing you in the future of a Komplete 27 Collectors sale, so I do this for you Jack!
Joking aside, looking forward to picking this up once '27 rolls around, looks like a nice refresh.

Veeeeery slowly getting closer to the feature sets of Serum/Pigments. That took a while.

Massive X has been my go-to synth for years. To me it just creates a much richer, fuller sound than the alternatives I have tried. The UI was just terrible and I felt like a rocket scientist learning how to actually use it to its full capability. I just bought this without blinking for $49 and I think its a great upgrade. Makes the synth much more approachable, adds some really cool features like mutate and generate, and provides actual information to what every section of the synth does. I really hope they invest more into Massive X(L) as its a great synth just like the original Massive.

I don't mind being in the minority when I say....I'm pretty down for this update.
£44 to very substantially overhaul the UI is a price I'm okay with; I can appreciate that's not a small amount of work to do.
I've also yet to hear a Wavetable synth that sounds as good to me as Massive X does, so it's nice that the UI is finally catching up to the quality of the synth itself.

I have never understood the relationship between Massive and Massive XL. Its like Ford engineers sat around and said, we've got this F150 pickup that sells pretty good so lets make something called the F150 XL except instead of being a pickup, it'll be a toaster. Oh and the toast it makes kind of sucks.

Massive X is one of the best sounding synths and has been for a long time, in my opinion.
It's everything else about it that has made it somewhat niche.
I think this is a very strong step forward after the takeover and a really good sign at how a "second pair of eyes" on Native Instrument's catalogue can be very valuable.
I get that a lot of people might just wait for Komplete 27, however I don't mind it not being free.

I'm still using the original Massive, it's still a great synth for bass lines. I'll check this out, but I'm pretty sure I've got the low-end covered already.
