Discussion What just happened? UCONN vs South Carolina
Geno & Dawn Staley got into it at midcourt before the game was over. Then Geno walked to the locker room by himself. Does this mean he’s a sore loser? 😂

Personally I’m a USC fan so of course Judea is my GOAT but I’ve heard the name Toby floating around and I see she’s a baller too. Who else would you guys suggest watching because they’re basically WNBA-ready? I like players who are playmakers, get up and down the floor quick, have a good middy and overall make their teams better.
Edit: I’m not implying Juju and Toby are the main two stars to watch. I’m saying they’re the only two on my radar. Thank you everyone for the names, teams and suggestions

With the ‘Clones recent 3 game losing streak, and Audi Crooks struggles, we’ve all heard the same phrases:
“She needs to make physical changes”
“Her conditioning needs work”
“She’s tired at the end of games”
“She doesn’t have the tools to defend outside of the paint”
“Her coach has to be careful with her minutes to preserve her energy”
We don’t have to beat around the bush here: Audi needs to lose weight.
Yes, Addy Brown has been out, but Audi’s struggles are very clear, and have been for 3 years now. It’s not sexist or mean to say. She’s an athlete, and her weight is a physical hindrance on her ability to perform.
We need to mature as fans of women’s sports where we can openly have these discussions, without it devolving into “this player is hot” or “I’m going to be extra harsh on this player because I’m not physically attracted to them”. We don’t do this in men’s sports with a player like Desmond Watson. We all want women’s sports to be treated equally to men’s sports (especially in the media and general sports universe at large), and the best time to act like it is now.
We can’t just avoid saying the actual problem with Crooks out of fear of what the ignorant “fan” will possibly say in response. Call those people out if/when it happens, and move on. It’s still unacceptable for those people to make fun of her, or fat shame, or make any other number of nasty comments directed at her as a person.
I still love Audi. I love her game. I value her as a human being and don’t think she should deal with all the bullshit that can come with being a woman that is discussed about in public.
That said, number 55 needs to lose some weight to reach her fullest potential as a basketball player. She has the personality and skill set to be the women’s basketball version of Shaq. I sincerely hope to see it one day, and the sport of basketball and women’s sports as a whole will be better if/when it happens.

Caitlin fan in the Fox Sports company made this list. My first problem Caitlin being on of multiple championships and POYs. Second problem if you placing Caitlin on the list because she is the all time scorer then Kelsey Plum should be on Top 10.

I want to start off saying I'm a big fan of Audi. I think she has so much talent, but there is unused potential that needs to be developed if she's going to make it in the W. And I really hope she makes it!
I'm trying to figure out which coach would be best suited for her and which team she would best be suited for. I'm thinking UCLA could be a good fit. Coach Close seems tough on defense and won't let her fall off in terms of conditioning. Betts will be gone AND I'm not seeing any HS recruits committing to UCLA (though that might change?). It seems like they could use another big and Sienna Betts is only a freshman, needs some time to cook.
What do y'all think? UCLA? ND? Iowa? Tennessee needs bodies on the floor lol

So I think Dawn's answer about Paige is perfect.
I think the sport has become a little too much about "GOATs" and it must suck as a coach to sit at your own Natty press conference and essentially be asked "Forget your players, just how amazing do you think this player on the other team is?"

We have some great matchups today! Also hidden in the schedule (and not in this post) are some riveting high-major matchups including Rutgers vs. Penn State and Pittsburgh vs. SMU. Winless Valparaiso also plays today, hosting Drake. Other than that, there are these 21 games to look forward to! Lots of top teams are in action today and I'm especially excited because there seem to be more evenly-matched games than even a typical NCAAW Sunday. Enjoy it!

A few days after SC walked into the PMAC and walked out with the win, Kia Brooks took to facebook live to point out the following:
Etc. If you’d like to watch the entire 26 min video, it’s still up on her fb page as of today, 5:16 PM EST.
Now, I’m not best speller but I could’ve sworn there’s no “I” in team! The way Kia Brooks has carried on as the manager of her daughter had been rather interesting to say the least. This is not a good look for Flau’jae!
What are your thoughts??
Update: Kia has since taken down the original live, but it has made its way to the shaderoom: https://www.instagram.com/p/DU8KBXPDt3U/?igsh=ejJyaml0aXZmbXBy
Raven Johnson’s mom has also weighed in. “This has gone too far when a parent starts disrespecting players on another team. It doesn’t matter if your child is a lottery pick—congratulations to them—but this is still a team sport. Last time I checked, there’s no “I” in team. No single player wins or loses on their own.” - @kiajohn24 on Twitter

(Also, don't be an ass and get on someone for saying a hot take. It's supposed to be against the grain!)

Chandler Prater (the Mississippi State defender who made contact with JuJu Watkins on the play where she tore her ACL, was said to be “not doing well” after the game. She was booed by the LA crowd and accused of playing dirty despite making a normal basketball play.
Obviously Watkins is the focus, but I’m sending my best wishes to Prater as well, she clearly feels awful about this and it was just a freak thing that her contact resulted in the injury.

Shocked the heck outta me to see her at a casino here in Phoenix only 13ish hours before the championship game, but it was so cool to sit next to royalty 😜
She seems like such a fun and cool person to be around, and also stayed at the SAME table for like 2 hours, drank no booze (coffee or tea, it seemed), and had a nice group with her...including Charlemagne tha God! My friend and I were thinking how wild it is that a coach of a championship men's team would probably be swarmed with attention and fans if they were in a casino the night before the championship

Honestly leaves a bad taste in my mouth how many grown women in their 40s from the annals of college and WNBA history are coming out of the woodwork to tear Clark down rather than uplift and celebrate her. Reeks of jealousy tbh.
You can't be considered a GOAT if you don't have a ring? In COLLEGE? Like you can control if you play on a team with stacked five-star recruits or not? Not to mention that, results of tomorrow's game aside, Iowa and Clark are now in back-to-back national championship games putting them one away from the ring regardless of the outcome. Some of Clark's highlights
All-time points leader -- (This discussion should really stop right here tbh. ALL TIME #1. That's it. That's the stat. But we can obviously keep going)
I was originally going to list off a bunch of her other "#1 all time" records but what's the point. Bottom line is her career stats are 28 points per game, 8 assists per game, 7 rebounds per game. And the one slightly more legitimate criticism of Clark's game - that perhaps she isn't the most efficient player - doesn't really hold up. She is is 46% overall shooter and 38% from 3. Which, true, are not stats that literally lead college basketball. But they're still great.
Finally, and I'm hesitant to bring it up because it just opens up opportunities for people to spout off random nonsense - but if people wanna talk about intangible, made-up feelings regarding "greatness" or rising to the occasion or whatnot, Clark definitely has achieved her reputation here as well. She's "electrifying" whatever that means. Think about the UCONN game this weekend. Neither Bueckers nor Clark had amazing games TBH. But who was the center of gravity for their team? Who was consistently visible throughout?
All of those stats significantly exceed and out-class all of these women now scoffing and insisting Clark can't be in the GOAT convo? It's laughable and embarrassing for them and it's realtime erasure from women that should be celebrating.

Is conference play even fun for y’all? Are there any teams in the Big East that are must watch? Do y’all feel like a reverse LSU in terms of schedule?
As a neutral fan, watching UConn in this version of the Big East, is like watching Beyoncé do a Versus against Ashanti, like no disrespect to the opponent but let’s be serious.

Getting ready for the conversations at work this week when I tell people I mainly pay attention to the women’s tournament over the men’s.
I played in high school along with my sisters, so it’s always been something that was on in my house, but I also just find the team play better. I love the passion and friendship these women have.
Curious what everyone else’s reasons are!
