Me holding screen for the entire match and doing nothing while the random 3 point build player do whatever flashy scoring things he's doing

13

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

Those screens add up to an A+

Played with some assholes in the rec center tonight. Could tell they were a 4-man group based on how they would completely ignore me all game. Ended up with 6 points and 18 rebounds, set screens and was first on the team to an A+. Meanwhile the SG shot 6/15 from 3 among many other shots and the SF shot 3/12. These dickheads had the nerve to message me and say “you’re welcome for the free win”. Like wtf?

54

u/ItsYaBoyRilez Sep 25 '20

You’re welcome for the boards and holding the paint down on defense and the easy baskets on the fast breaks. Shoot my own friends I get mad at them sometimes when I get 4 shots all game on a center even though I know I am not the focal point

50

u/Dazzabrown05 Sep 25 '20

It’s 2k your gonna find that

11

u/AyeeeWood Sep 25 '20

I’m all for role playing but if I’m not getting the ball when wide open consistently and your consistently taking bad shots while I’m locking up on defense, i will literally stand out of bounds and run up and down the side line. Have fun tryna figure out your game plan 4v5 or sometimes even 3v5. Go play park or 3v3 if you’re gonna come in the rec on that BS

u/DirtyGypsyKid Sep 25 '20

For real. I work 10 hours a day 5 days a week. I have time for 2-3 games a night, I don't want to sit and watch my teammates play without even getting the ball on offense. I had a game where I didn't take a shot for the first 2 1/2 quarters, then I stole the ball and was about to pass and this dude called timeout and they continued to not pass to me lmao.

10

u/AyeeeWood Sep 25 '20

They sometimes won’t even give you a chance to show if you’re trash. My guys and i have ran with 3 or 4 guys pleantly of times and everyone is innocent until proven guilty. Let’s find out if he’s an asset or a problem b4 we work him out of the offense. Some guys honestly lose bc they never have ppl to play with. The main person i run with lives two states over that i never met b4 and there’s a lot of gamers who create bonds like that. Gotta give everyone a shot

1

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '20

Same shot happened to me. I laughed then proceeded to call the next three timeouts we had left... malicious compliance 😈

2

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

Facts bro.

69

u/gentyent Sep 25 '20

start selling when people do that. My motto is if they’re gonna ruin my experience, I’m gonna ruin theirs

55

u/DirtyGypsyKid Sep 25 '20

I just stop playing defense when people do that. Then tell them that I though they didn't need me on offense so they didn't need me on defense either.

8

u/AyeeeWood Sep 25 '20

I love your energy 😂

6

u/TheOneWhosCensored Sep 25 '20

I would do that a ton in 20. Want to block my paint as a SG? Then you can have it.

26

u/blackbeltwithhands Sep 25 '20

Same,im not here to watch people play

10

u/masterant369 Sep 25 '20

you're all toxic lol

58

u/gentyent Sep 25 '20

Right, we should just sit there and watch them only pass to each other and take all the shots while we're out here trying to have a good team experience. Nah. Like, what, am I supposed to take the high road and accept that I'm basically just gonna have to watch them play the game that I also paid for, or quit? See, if you start selling, then those douches realize the only way it's gonna stop is if they actually treat you like a teammate.

3

u/gezerim00 Sep 25 '20

hell no. this is not pro ball this is game no one will play defense for nothing you HAVE to pas the ball

2

u/XZemaz Sep 25 '20

yup that’s what i do, if y’all gonna be weird to me i’m gonna make sure the other team wins

1

u/Kaymojohnson Sep 25 '20

Say that! Every time I experience this I stop playing offense, that way my grade doesn't take hits and the other 4 guys start racking up turnovers

1

u/wearing_the_letter_O Sep 25 '20

I just stand in the backcourt and still play d. If you don't want to involve me, you don't deserve my body as a decoy. I still get to play defense (which is fun for me) and keep my grade up.

14

u/FloppyDinosaurs Sep 25 '20

When people do me like that I will literally just start throwing the game. As a big you know you’re getting an A+ and all your badge points anyways. I’ll be damned if I spend 30 minutes of my life passing to the same snowbird every 20 seconds.

-8

u/datpuddinpoi Sep 25 '20

That’s why you have a negative record

13

u/FloppyDinosaurs Sep 25 '20

Who gives a fuck about a record lmao

-3

u/datpuddinpoi Sep 25 '20

Exactly. If you care about points more than a win, this game isn’t for you

5

u/beast07006 Sep 25 '20

Rec is toxic. It is very annoying when only 2-3 people pass to each other the whole game. I hate to say it but I have thrown the game before too... just stand in the paint on offense and play zero d.

But I've also been on the opposite end when a low rated player gets mad they don't get the ball everytime down and stop playing. And they constantly follow the ball asking for it and when they get it they shoot a terrible shot.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

Agreed bro, Rec Center is just a breeding ground for toxicity.

3

u/jfman86 Sep 28 '20

Thought I was alone. It's obvious when playing Rec and not getting passed to on purpose because the backcourt is a group of buddies. 2 games in a row we barely win, my SF matchup ebde3 up 3/13 and 4/14 while I went 2/4 and 1/3....:I passed even as limited as I touched it, played good D ànd didn't mind too much that the PG n SG combined 35-40 FGA and made less than half.... We won. Then I get a message from the PG "that I'm trash" and the SG messaged in game two "just quit". They obviously just wanted AI but it pissed me off as I played D and still set screens and kept the floor spaced and ball moving. It's hard to laugh it off sometimes though.... But I need to quit rec. I'm also interested of any group as the outsider message me "good game" just once after winning 2 games in a row with the same guys being the glue guy they don't pass too ever yet you stay a good sport and win..... People's egos are crazy. I know I am good at the game, nothing special, it's a video game. We can all press X and drain threes but people act like it's only a few elite players that can score 20 points taking 15 to 20 shots each game. Luckily I don't care about stats and enjoy team games and team wins. But the pleasures of a random rec where all 5 guys take 10 shots and the team shoots 60%+ sure are great (the 3% of the time it happens)

1

u/[deleted] Oct 21 '20

Bro this shit happened to me four games in a row in rec. I miss one shot due to these laggy ass servers and get completely ignored all game after that. I play point guard and they kept passing right by my player every possession.

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

276

u/GT6_Houndy_TFK Sep 25 '20

Because your play shot PG friend defends like my little sister

30

u/VloneThuggerSpencer Sep 25 '20

usually the pg would guard the other teams corner sitter and you’d have a lock on their dribbler

19

u/bickdaddy Sep 25 '20

If only you could change matchups in the rec

16

u/TheBrokeBoiii Sep 25 '20

If you play with friends you guys can just switch, or if randoms have enough iq for that

2

u/XxsevereintrovertXx Sep 25 '20

that hella smart

4

u/Tropical_Wendigo Sep 25 '20

His little sister: Diana Taurasi

2

u/Anon22603 Sep 25 '20 edited Sep 25 '20

i actually have a sg playshot who can guard PF in the paint i just cant snag the boards but i can stop the animation unless its a contact. I be getting like 60-75% contests as well

60

u/HidekiL Sep 25 '20

People are weird. As a PG I feel like it’s my job to make other people get easy looks. Not run behind threes and jack curry threes from the parking lot

49

u/iFr3aK Sep 25 '20

Hold up. PG's can pass the ball?

27

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

I think passing is more fun a lot of the time tbh. Setting up good plays and team works makes it more fun no one likes sitting around and not getting to play.

9

u/Bendrake Sep 25 '20

I’m a PG and maybe only take 3-4 shots in a Rec game.

I average around 10 assists, I get so much more gratification from a good pass or setup.

14

u/302born Sep 25 '20

Honestly it’s because when you look at the nba now it’s a bunch of undersized shooting guards playing point. The best points guards outside of Chris Paul have pretty much score first role. So it’s only natural most kids on 2k follow suit. No one takes pride in being a pure point guard anymore. They’d rather have 30 points than 15 assists. And I think if you ask most of them what a point guard is supposed to be they would probably just say “he brings the ball up court” or something.

2

u/DanChubSFW Sep 25 '20

Not gonna lie I know badge grinds are different but I got 24 assists last my career game lol

1

u/AfghanTornado Sep 26 '20

Lmao. What difficulty are you playing. My teammates are always trash so I can't pass to them it's all bricks. Looking at you klay and Steph. I'd be lucky if I can get 10 in a match.

10

u/beast07006 Sep 25 '20

I agree and disagree. As a floor general your job is to make sure your team scores. If you can shoot like Curry/Harden then jacking up 3's is a good option. But if you shoot like Westbrook/Lonzo Ball/or even CP3 setting up the bigs for easy shots makes sense. It's all about what you are working with... but I also agree that if you have some great players on your team, they need to be involved or at least everyone should know their role.

3

u/Xeniamm Sep 25 '20

I agree with you man, 100%. Play and build to your strenghts. I can't shoot for shit so I went with the popular two-way slasher PG. Thinking about making a Giannis build with a tall, fast, and good at finishing player so I can play with other PGs (As those are the only ones I see in 2k20).

I love passing and everything related to playmaking though (Not only in nba2k, other games too like LoL where I play JG or Fifa where I really enjoy playing as a CAM over the rest of the positions) so idk if making that build would be worth it.

1

u/HidekiL Sep 25 '20

That’s great. I can shoot too, this meme I think is targeting PGs who iso all game, I have a big build and I know who the meme is targeting. Obviously to get good positioning for your teammates you should also be an active threat. But you shouldn’t be the only threat.

2

u/Money-Trees- Sep 25 '20

I disagree

23

u/No_Love_1705 Sep 25 '20

I dropped 25 points off offensive rebounds

13

u/YSChamberlain Sep 25 '20

This! I will be open all game and not get passes and will hear some like oh u had more attempts than me but 9 of my 12 attempts were putbacks despite being open ever time I set a screen and rolled.

3

u/No_Love_1705 Sep 25 '20

I posted a pic on my page for proof that guards are toxic asf

7

u/No_Love_1705 Sep 25 '20

I even have a picture of me dropping like 40 points straight off rebounds fuck guards

11

u/blackbeltwithhands Sep 25 '20

Game need to be balanced so everyone can be involved

2

u/groache24 Sep 25 '20

everyone keeps saying it will be next gen...i dont believe a goddamn thing.

It'll be more of the same...Unless we get fully customizable pie charts.

19

u/Mukbeth Sep 25 '20

This is why I made a 6'9 Rebounding Guard. I can rebound and guard all positions on D then I just have to set screens or stand a the corner on offense.

7

u/YuckiFucki Sep 25 '20

In 2k20 my friend asked me to make this build as an SF with no playmaking at all. Is this actually viable

4

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

Yeah

2

u/BigRecord Sep 25 '20

Yes I've used a red/green SF for 2 years in a row and it's a really good "do everything' build

5

u/blackbeltwithhands Sep 25 '20

That's what im about to do lol, only way you can enjoy the game playing random

8

u/noturnyet Sep 25 '20

I’m the only play shot that will drive then pass the ball

In my brain it’s like why did the whole team stop the drive to leave a pure shot build open

3

u/dachymmij Sep 25 '20

I always drive and kick but when I kick they dribble and miss lol

so I’m done playing with online people unless I start to do the dribble 200 times then shoot like the rest, since 2k buffed shooting now

1

u/Vivotic0818 Sep 25 '20

Since when did they buff shooting?

1

u/dachymmij Sep 25 '20

Either they buffed it over the last week or my timing as increased tremendously lol

1

u/noturnyet Sep 28 '20

I can never green I just get the badges in mycareer and go to park and get assist I’m the most useful in dime time between my trio

14

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

I wonder if he ever passed the ball.... pathetic these loser pg's who just chuck up 3's no one thinks you're the hero you think you are gtfo here

7

u/SkyHi_Boi Sep 25 '20

420 VC per game. Check. 10,000 VC for a horribly ugly t-shirt. Check.

4

u/likeclockwxrk Sep 25 '20

Life is good, you know what I mean?

4

u/RazorRamonNba2k Sep 25 '20

194 dribble moves is the problem with the game.

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

194 dribbles with a hesi and another 194 dribbles before taking a 100% smothered fadeaway then NOT playing defense to send YOU a message saying you’re trash... 😂

You gotta love the 2k community.... am i right....

2

u/RazorRamonNba2k Sep 26 '20

I’m taking about the times they green it 🤣

1

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '20

Lmfao!!!

3

u/simplyAK3 Sep 25 '20

Imagine spending money to stand on the corner like a hoe. Couldn’t be me...

3

u/DREAMRRR Sep 25 '20

If im a Big and I’m standing in the corner wide open and you refuse to pass and elect to take a stupid contested shot.. Just fucking know it’s impossible for me to take my heavy ass back down in transition to defend the paint.

Moron

2

u/beerio511 Sep 26 '20

There will never be a team sports game online where each player is controlled by someone else is not a shit experience where you wonder why you bother.

NBA career is so much damn fun but the moment I step into the my career online mode I try not to turn off the game in frustration.

1

u/Mr_Kuppel Sep 26 '20

Selfish playerbase is a console issue not gaming issue, Freestyle 2 street basketball, Rocket league, even NBA 2k21 on PC I can hop any game and have fun all day with complete strangers but the moment I hop on Console my teammates play keepaway and send hate mail.

1

u/beerio511 Sep 26 '20

Don’t give me more reason to buy a PC haha

I like to think of fifa was played the same way you’d have hero goalies skill moving up the guts and then a defender would slam a goal from halfway

1

u/Martepartay Sep 25 '20

This is the worst way to play

1

u/tbiscuit7 Sep 25 '20

Blaze it

1

u/Jzkitty21 Sep 25 '20

good spacing intensifies

1

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

Guys help me out what’s the vc glitch lol

1

u/Tokasmoka420 Sep 25 '20

I went 10 for 10, 4 assists and 0 turnovers and I barely got an A-. Slashers get no love for making a basket, even from an assist.

1

u/ivaorn Sep 25 '20

Getting a 5-3-2 stat line but constantly screen assisting and stopping fast breaks

1

u/Tuloom Sep 25 '20

After 35 games you can buy shoes or upgrade once. Its up to you.

1

u/Vivid361 Sep 26 '20

Running shooting/finishing/ball handle boost as a shooting slasher.........

= losing 30vc a game even on a win. 🤦‍♂️

-15

u/Moon_Cricket1 Sep 25 '20

I get 1700+ VC a game

17

u/Prefiixx Sep 25 '20

Park not NBA

4

u/whodat91v Sep 25 '20

How? Lol

4

u/pepperonipizzaGT Sep 25 '20

It tells me I get 1400 VC a game, but in reality I get 0.

-28

u/Moon_Cricket1 Sep 25 '20

I get all my VC so tuff luck

-17

u/Podgorski37 Sep 25 '20

People that actually sit in the corner thinking they’re good 🤡

10

u/FutbolSupreme Sep 25 '20

OP never said he was good. He just plays well enough that he can get A without scoring. Spamming dribble moves and putting up all the shots does not mean you’re good either. If you’re getting a C with that many points that means you held the ball too long and don’t play defence and when you do you spam steal and keep fouling.

8

u/GoOnNoMeatNoPudding Sep 25 '20

People want to play a basketball simulator game the way basketball should be played. You the clown

-4

u/ItsPattex Sep 25 '20

So youre saying sitting in corner is the way real basketball is played?

6

u/GoOnNoMeatNoPudding Sep 25 '20

It’s apart of it. Passing is a key component of basketball. The dudes who sit in the corner all game probably have a better b-ball iq.

We get it bro, you’re hating on OP’s post because that’s all you can amount to in 2K. You probably envy guys like JJ reddick that with in corners all day. He gets paid a pretty penny tho.

2

u/thunt517 Sep 25 '20

You must have never watched pj tucker in a game

2

u/sad_seal Sep 25 '20

Where did you get that they said this from? You're insecure.

-1

u/Podgorski37 Sep 25 '20

Ffs I’m not talking about OP, I mean anyone that corner sits

4

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

1

u/Podgorski37 Sep 25 '20

Oh god even worse

-9

u/Royal_Reality Sep 25 '20 edited Sep 25 '20

Me sharpshooter pg does %70 of teams points (60 or something) with only 3's and couldn't defend LeBron gets b- and people just blames me to not ever passing the ball

Edit: it's NBA game not park and I pass sometimes at those times they just miss it

8

u/[deleted] Sep 25 '20

It probably was your fault you ball hog 🐷

-2

u/Royal_Reality Sep 25 '20

I don't know man all the guides that I read said don't pass the ball if you wanna earn more vc
