MEGATHREAD: Got an interview, requirement, and admission question? Post it here!
Even if it is program specific, look to see if it has been asked here before. 99% of the time, chances are the same question has been asked before, and that people are all coming on here looking for answers.

In response to deodorant, body odours and cleanliness
The Sitch
There have been recent complaints about student hygiene in this subreddit. In regards to body odour, oral odour, and general uncleanliness. Clearly, a large number of students are having a growing issue in regards to the hygiene of other students.
Bad hygiene is not "personal". It disrupts others' learning, it makes public spaces sometimes unbearable to be around, and it is unfair to those who are sensitive to smells. This can affect student performance, the willingness of students to socialize and use NAIT services, and can be a real detriment to the students who are paying to study at NAIT.
Some students have no choice but to use the computers at commons, eat lunch in the common areas, and do group work in common areas. It is wildly unfair to them to not enforce these rules.
Who's the Issue?
The truth is that these students can come from all backgrounds. Although our experience as individuals make it very easy to generalize certain groups of being the main culprit, the issue needs to be dealt with at a grand level. Black, brown, blue or purple; if you smell bad, you smell bad. Should be enforced from the get-go.
Seeing the growing number of racial generalizations, it can be very easy for these generalizations to slip into unnecessarily racist comments. If we want this issue dealt with, we need to refrain from immature racist comments and stay focused on the end goal.
What should we do about it?
We know NAIT has loosely enforced "odour sensitivity" before, in regards to wearing strong perfumes and colognes. Why can the same not be done for strong, unpleasant bad-hygiene odours?
NAIT also needs to realize that by not enforcing this, they are creating a breeding ground for resentment towards groups that are not partaking in basic hygiene practices. They are also creating spaces for other students where they feel extremely unpleasant. (Like, nauseatingly unpleasant. I've unwillingly gagged.)
Here's what I suggest from all of you:
- Contact NAITSA ([asknaitsa@nait.ca](mailto:asknaitsa@nait.ca)) about wanting NAIT to enforce a hygiene rule. Let them know how you feel about other student's hygiene, and how it affects your learning.
- Contact/CC NAIT Administration as well about this being an issue. CC your program chair as well.
- Advocate for campus-wide initiatives about basic hygiene, the importance of it, and how your hygiene affects others (yes, some people are vastly uneducated about this). This includes, showering, using deodorant, washing your clothes, brushing your teeth, and flossing.
- Enforce it, by allowing students to submit complaints about bad hygiene, and having NAIT administration making this a policy about decent behaviour. (The same way provocative clothing, vulgar/loud behaviour, and abusive language is not tolerated)
- Do a discovery/study that determines if their student population has adequate access to showers, hygiene products, and laundry service. (you'd be surprised r/SlumlordsCanada)
In my personal opinion, it is NAIT"s responsibility to enforce this. To maintain a certain standard of what we expect from each other, we do need to be vocal and make it known when we feel certain boundaries are not being enforced.
I'm debating starting a petition for NAIT to address this issue. Please let me know in the poll below if you'd like to see an official change.org petition made for this. Voting closes in a week.
I wanted to make this post to raise this as a formal issue, so we can remain productive about it and not devolve into finger pointing and unproductive comments. Let's hope together we can make the change we want to see.

Help interviews( MRT/DMS/MRI)
Hey, for those who have already done the Fall 2027 interview, how did you find it, and do you have any advice for someone who’s still waiting for their invite? I’m not asking for the exact questions just any tips or things you wish you knew beforehand. Thank you!!

Question Mechanical engineering technology
I want to ask specifically to those who have completed mechanical engineering technology from NAIT.
how are the jobs that people get after graduating from mechanical engineering technology?
How is the pay and job security?
Is there a possibility that we can get homebase work? I have observed that maybe there are less jobs available after completing this diploma so this true?

Question PPD for 12 days still no interview link
Hi folks, so I applied for a few health science programs on Oct 1st, and all of them changed to pending program decision over a week ago. However, I have not received any link for interviews up until now. Is it normal? I’ve seen people getting interviews starting last Monday, and I’m so worried that since I’m still not even getting the link for that, I’ll just be waitlisted or directly rejected.

Help Did I Apply Too Late for NAIT MLA Fall 2027?
Hi everyone!
I applied to NAIT’s Medical Laboratory Assisting (MLA) program for Fall 2027 on October 7, 2026. My application status currently shows “Submitted, not reviewed yet.”
I’m currently enrolled in NAIT’s Medical Terminology (ITMS 100) course, and I’m planning to take Human Anatomy & Physiology as well.
I’m a little worried that I may have applied too late or that the program might already be filling up.
For anyone who applied to NAIT’s MLA program in previous years or has applied for Fall 2027:
- Is applying on October 7 considered late?
- How long did it take for your application to be reviewed?
- Does having relevant courses like Medical Terminology help?
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!

Help When/Should I take pre reqs for school of health programs.
If anyone is currently a student or a graduate of any of the school of health programs. I have something to ask.
1.what was your journey to getting accepted(right away, waitlisted or others)(get in first or second time,if so what changed?)
2.what is the main thing helped you to preform well on the interview (prep, tips )(please and thank you)
3.Did any of you guys complete the pre reqs before apply or during the process
my plan is to see if I can get in first because the courses are expensive (or get conditional acceptance, is that rare?).Also so I can actually do the course while I still have the time.I would like to add even if I did take these pre reqs they probably wouldn't be accredited anywhere else.- that's the bummer of it.
4.Should I do the pre reqs right now, I still didn't get my interview
sorry for this long message,I'm just worried about losing time.
Unfortunately ,I am really interested in one specific program and so far Nait is the only school I applied to. I should apply to other things right ?I wish there were more spots to be honest.

Question MRI 2nd Discipline program
Hi! I’m currently doing my MRT program at NAIT and will graduate in 2027. I’m hoping to do the MRI program next fall and was wondering if I can apply while I’m still in MRT or if I have to graduate and get my MRT certificate first. Is conditional acceptance possible?
If anyone knows, please let me know. Thank you!

Question Question about NAIT ordering your transcripts
betting this is a silly question: If NAIT ordered your transcripts, do they usually put due dates close to when they ordered? They put a due date for tomorrow on the transcripts they ordered; if they don’t update, does that affect anything, especially since that part is out of our hands? (Alberta student, so NAIT ordered themselves, but we had previous issues, so making sure it’s all smooth now. already conditionally accepted and deposit paid)

Question How competitive is Respiratory Therapy program?
I went to NAIT recently and they told me the DMS program is extremely competitive, they have about 30 seats available for over a thousand applicants. I’m wondering, does anyone know how competitive the respiratory therapy program is? Is it relatively easier to get into? It is my top choice at NAIT and I’m now waiting to do my interview. Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Question Quiet space where i can make calls?
I am studying abroad and my family is back home and there is only certain times I can call them. I was wondering if there are spaces on campus or near by that aren't so noisy and more private where I can call them. I don't have a car or live near by.

Help [SHLS] NAIT Interview Prep (Current Student)
Hi all, I am a student at NAIT. Yesterday, I volunteered at the NAIT open house and realized how many applicants are stressed about the interview process, which makes sense. It's a major deciding factor in the application process.
Since I've seen so many questions here, I wanted to share how I prepared. I gained admission to my two top choices. (I did 2 separate applications so I could practice for the programs I was less keen on)
Disclaimer: I'm a current student, not an admissions representative. This is based on my experience, and things may have changed. No actual interview questions here!
Interview format
Once you receive the interview invitation, you will be given a time window to complete it; this may vary, but it is usually at least one full week. Don't rush; pick a day that makes sense for you
5 questions: 2 general School of Health and Life Sciences questions (completed once if applying to multiple programs) and 3 program-specific questions.
2 minutes to prepare, 3 minutes to record each answer.
Topics could include ethics, healthcare issues, and qualities relevant to the profession.
My understanding was that different people evaluated questions independently. So don't let one bad answer throw you off!
Check your own interview instructions for current requirements.
A few things about admissions
If you meet the grade requirements, you should receive an interview invitation, so don't panic if you haven't received it yet. Use that time to prepare!
Teachers review the interviews in addition to their responsibilities in the different programs, which is why it won't take a while. Admissions can offer you admission up until the weekend before classes start. Stay ready, especially if you are waitlisted; you never know. This includes completing your medical terminology and anatomy courses and filling out your funding applications; that way, if you get moved off the waitlist, you are ready to go. I believe the courses are good for 5 years.
Resources I used
Book: BeMo's Ultimate Guide to Multiple Mini Interviews. (MMI) I found it on Kindle for $0.99. Good explanations and practice examples. Their coaching was way out of my budget!
Reddit: r/premedcanada and r/premed have lots of advice on MMI and Casper preparation. Not identical to NAIT's interview, but useful for practising reasoning and communication.
Some Reddit threads I found helpful:
Practice tips that worked for me:
Practise OUT LOUD.
I practised for about a week by recording my voice while cooking, folding laundry, etc. My partner and classmates also helped by listening and exchanging practice questions. I occasionally used ChatGPT for scenarios, but its feedback wasn't always reliable. Use a timer! Knowing an answer and communicating it clearly in three minutes are different skills.
You can start practising before receiving an interview invitation.
Structure helps you stay organized. For personal questions, I used STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result).
For ethical scenarios,
Identified the main issue.
Considered different perspectives and options.
Explained what I'd do and why.
Added a personal example if relevant.
Done.
Don't rush your preparation time. Use it to organize your thoughts.
Don't underestimate the power of introducing yourself and saying thank you after. Those 4 seconds can make a difference.
Interview day
Treat it like a job interview: find a quiet space, use a neutral background, wear appropriate clothing, ensure good lighting, and have reliable internet. If possible, make sure nobody in your network is doing anything super demanding.
VidCruiter prompts an equipment check before you start.
Give yourself plenty of time, get a good night's sleep, and have your ID and anything else required ready.
None of my answers ran longer than 2.5 minutes. I even caught myself rambling once, stopped, and said, "I'm rambling. My main points are X and Y. Thank you."
If something goes wrong
Contact technical support and admissions immediately, and they may, depending on the situation, allow you to re-record the affected questions. This isn't a guarantee, but if something goes wrong, document it and contact them ASAP.
Remember, the interview isn't about giving the " right answer"; it's about reflecting on your experiences, considering different perspectives, and practising how to explain your reasoning. You don't need to know everything. You're applying to learn!
Hope this helps someone feel a little less lost. Good luck!
Final disclaimer: This is just my personal experience. Everyone prepares differently, so please use whatever methods work best for you. This post is not affiliated with NAIT, any admissions service, coaching company, or other organization. I'm simply sharing what helped me in case it's useful to someone else.

Question Court Transcriptionist Program
Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with or opinions about the Court Transcription Program at NAIT. I know the Court Reporting Program is no longer being offered, but I'm curious whether anyone has completed the Court Transcription Program and found success with it.
I enrolled in the Court Reporting Program a few years ago but didn’t finish because my typing speed wasn’t quite at the required level. However, I really enjoyed many aspects of the profession, which has made me wonder whether court transcription might be a good alternative path for me.
If anyone has insights about the program itself or what career opportunities and day-to-day work look like after graduation, I would love to hear your experiences. Thank you!

If you are waitlisted how long did it take you to get fully accepted such as you applied oct 1 or 2 did they give you a seat on Nov to January or start of school year?

Help DMS - General of Cardiac
Hello, I am an applicant who applied on Oct 1st and got my interview email; I still haven't done it and am nervous about the interview. I need help regarding how I should choose the program during the interview.
In the email I received, it says to choose either DMS General or DMS General and Cardiac. Which one should I choose? Do I need to mention what I want to get into during the interview, or are those the options I need to select from?
Also, other than the extra time learning cardiac and practicum, what are the future benefits or other differences this choice might make compare to just DMS General?
I know I am not in the program yet, but what if I were to fail in the future. Is it harder?
I am lost on what to choose; please help me.

Question Sonography program - How is it looking?
Hi!
A little background about me: I am a fourth-year student at UofA, currently majoring in chemistry, which I am starting to realize I don't enjoy. I chose my major later on in my degree, so I still have a couple of years left to complete it. I've been feeling very lost in life and regretful about the major I chose. I've been feeling very stressed out recently, trying to figure out what I want to do with my future.
I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do, but I recently came across the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at NAIT, and it caught my attention. Unfortunately, I found out about it a bit late, as applications seem to have opened at the beginning of this month. I've also heard that the earlier you apply, the better your chances of getting in. Is this true?
I'm a pretty average student with a current GPA of ~3.0. I also never completed Physics 20 or Physics 30 in high school, so I currently don't meet all the admission requirements for the program. Would I still be able to apply now and complete the missing prerequisites next semester, or would I have to wait another year for the next application cycle?
I would really appreciate any advice on how I could go about getting into this program, especially regarding my missing prerequisites. Also, if there are any current or former DMS students here, I'd love to hear about your experience applying to the program, how you got accepted, and what the program has been like for you!

Question (DMS) No interview link
Bonjour y’all,
I applied to the DMS program on October 1, and on October 15 my status changed to "pending program decision." It's been 10 days and I still haven't received the link. I've checked my inbox and spam folder, and there's nothing there. I've seen others say they already got theirs.
Has anyone else with this status not received it yet?
Thanks y’all

Question DMS/ MRI Interview!!
Hello everyone, I wanted to ask about MMi practice rating.
I am practicing with Chat GPT and getting 10/15 above based on ethical, practical and communication.
Can anyone please tell me if this is low? My Ethical and Practical says I'm doing well and I still need to practice the Communication part.
Thank you!! 🤗

Hey,
Has anyone here taken the Physics 30 equivalency test before? I was hoping to get some insight into what it’s like, how the proctoring works, and what kinds of questions to expect. I’d really appreciate it if anyone who’s taken it could share their experience!

Question Recent MLA grad trying to get into MLT
Hey!! I’m a recent MLA grad and have been interested in pursuing MLT for years. Because of the competitiveness of MLT, I decided to take the MLA program first to get my foot in the door and gain some experience in the lab setting.
I’m hoping to get into the program for the next intake and was wondering if my background as an MLA would help improve my interview score or strengthen my application.
For those who got into the MLT program, what tips or advice would you have for the interview process?
