Discussion Future vs Alternate

Alright, can we be real? There's no way future Lois Lane in season 3 was the same as Lois Lane from the Ex Games episode. Can you guys guess why? To me, Ex Games turned into her dad, while Future became like her dad as an act of necessity to protect her kids. I mean, there's no way Jonathan and Lara would have loved their mom so much if she was that doppelganger. What say you? What makes them different to you?

Considering that a major theme of the season is that you can built your own future, I don't think there's much of a meaningful difference between "future" and "alternate" selves.

I think the main difference is that future merely became like sam lane while alternate became Sam lane. Think about it. Do you really think Jonathan and Lara would love their mom if she was like that person we saw in the ex games? I mean, based on what we heard, future was a traumatized grieving family woman who just put the uniform on to protect her kids and give them peace while alternate just essentially gave up and turned into her dad to cope with losing Clark. If anything, future still had a heart.

I mean, they were also all in a strange stressful situation. And like, she was mostly just gruff. I can believe future Lois would be like that in a future where everyone she loved died.

Also, behavior like Sam's looks a lot different and would be taken differently by people around you in the situation where the world-wide catastrophe actually did happen. Alt Future Lois did become like Sam... but only because in her timeline Sam was right, and the way he behaves, while counterproductive in the main timeline, would be totally normal and justified in that one.

To me, I feel like ex games Lois lane was more cold hearted and ruthless while future Lois lane still had love inside her and was just desperate to protect her kids and give them a better future.

Are those different?

Being desperate to protect the people you love often looks like being cold and ruthless to strangers.

Maybe, but I honestly can’t imagine Jonathan and Lara loving their mom and call her the best thing they had in a bad world if she was like ex games Lois. I know we didn’t see her, but the implication was that future was still a loving mother and she took up the mantle out of desperation for her kids while ex games was cold and ruthless. I mean, Kara didn’t end up like Scion Kara in the first bad future.

  1. Yeah, ex-games Lois was cold and ruthless to the other team. No shit. Like I said, Sam behavior makes a lot of sense if you actually are living through the apocalypse. If future Lois was nice to everyone, it'd mean putting over people over her own children.

  2. I think the implication is that Kara did end up like Scion Kara in the bad future. I think the implication is that the Ex Games opponents were all from the same alternate future.

I meant in terms of personality despite both becoming general lane for the sake of conversation.

I understand the desire to fuel the conversation but think about what you're saying for a moment. You came with a statement that 2 different characters are, despite their similarities, different. What is there to talk about?
