It's pretty cool to see the Muppets Instagram page acknowledge Eric Bauza's performance in Muppet Babies 2018. You usually don't see the main Muppet accounts acknowledge the show.

Hello. I heard the news about Eric Bauza’s passing, so I wanted to talk a bit about my favorite character that he played. Now I could talk about his work on the Looney Tunes and many of his other great works, but the character I wanted to talk about is Baby Sam Eagle from the Muppet Babies reboot.

I’ll be honest, Sam Eagle has never been one of my favorite Muppets, and when I heard he was in Muppet Babies I was wondering how he would be portrayed. But when I saw his episodes I found him to be very endearing, even if this version of him isn’t the totally uptight, serious and America loving eagle that we all know. As someone who’s questioning whether they are autistic, I saw parts of myself, both as a kid and an adult, in this Sam. His interest in crabs (like my interest in stuff like Pokemon, the Muppets and voice actors), the way he acts differently from everyone else, his need to be by himself sometimes, his fear of loud noises and how he likes his food in a particular way. I know he hasn’t been confirmed to be autistic, but this version of Sam still means so much to me. And Eric brought the character to life in a very fun and endearing way. Dare I say, he’s my favorite version of this character and part of it is because of Eric.

Rest in peace, Eric Bauza. Thanks for bringing baby Sam Eagle and many other memorable characters to life with your voice 🩵
