Vent/Rant - Advice Wanted/Ambivalent I was diagnosed young

Hello, I was diagnosed at 19 and I just had my 26th birthday a while ago. I’ve experienced multiple flairs and the like over the years but now my worst fear is becoming my reality. This past week and a half I’ve lost the ability to walk even with a cane. When I was first diagnosed I had flashbacks to my mom who was wheelchair bound while I was growing up and now it feels like that’s my reality. I’ve tried a few treatments but I had to have ems come lift me off the ground recently. I’ve been bawling my eyes out and just am realizing that this is far more than I’ve been dealing with to date. It’s challenging on another front because I have always wanted to fine a wife and this feels like an obstacle I will never overcome. Not only that the community I have has shown to be caring but I feel like it drags them down having to be accessible. I know this rant contains a lot of non issues in reality but everything feels so real. I had to stop working as result of this horrible condition and that hurt me severely. Thanks for listening!

Vent/Rant - Advice Wanted/Ambivalent I literally just cannot / RRMS

(This is kind of a word vomit post sorry)

This has been the absolute longest almost two months of my life. I checked myself into the ER on September 6th after work because I’d suddenly lost the ability to grip a pen/write and my leg felt numbish and heavy, only on the right side though. I was there for literally 14 hours because they always take forever, had to struggle with said grip to remove all of my piercings for the MRI, had to call out of work and miss out on money when I was already paycheck to paycheck, got surprised with a 5 day inpatient hospital stay where they pumped me full of IV steroids that made everything taste bitter and lowkey didn’t help me feel any better. Had my 23rd birthday in the hospital— I got a lumbar puncture that morning, actually, so fun— eventually got discharged, briefly worried about the ridiculous payment plan options before losing my job anyway and getting approved for Medicaid. The issue now is my left side suddenly feeling like it’s burning up sometimes, and being scared to move due to these right side spasms that have randomly plagued my existence. I’ve been on Baclofen and Gabapentin for like two weeks now, but they’re the lowest dose and not helping much yet. I miss my autonomy. I miss being able to go to the bathroom and take a shower and make food without fear of losing control of my body. I’m supposed to get started on Tysabri soon (was going to be Ocrevus but apparently my Medicaid will not cover that) but I’m just so miserable now. I’m trying to remember that this is temporary but damn man it’s just been one thing after another

Advice A new job with MS

Hey everyone,
I’m starting a new job soon and could use some perspective from others who’ve navigated this.
I haven’t disclosed my MS, mainly because I don't yet know how my body will handle the day-to-day routine, physical demands, or commute. Since I don't know what specific accommodations I might even need until I actually get in the seat and see the workflow, disclosing upfront feels premature and stressful.

At the same time, the paperwork and onboarding forms are asking about accommodations/disabilities, and I'm feeling conflicted about the best way to handle this.

For those who’ve started new roles post-diagnosis:
Did you disclose early on, or wait until you settled in and knew what you actually needed?
How did you handle initial onboarding questions/forms without painting yourself into a corner?
Any practical tips for pacing energy and managing the learning curve during the first 30–60 days?

Would really appreciate hearing how others navigated the transition and protected their energy early on. Thanks in advance.

New Diagnosis Diagnosed Today

I was officially diagnosed with MS today, and I’m still processing everything. I’m supposed to start Briumvi once insurance approves it, and I’m definitely nervous about starting treatment.

I’d love to hear your experiences with Briumvi or other MS treatments, any advice you have for someone newly diagnosed, and any tips for making infusions and everyday life with MS more manageable. I’d really appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or tips you have to share❤️

Advice Baclofen and sedation for MRI

I take a low/moderate dose of baclofen twice a day. I have my upcoming MRI on Sunday. Want to request an oral sedation this time around but worried how it’ll interact with the baclofen. Probably overthinking it but has anyone taken both ? :) Thanks!!

Symptoms What are your MS symptoms?

I'm sure this has been asked before. But I was diagnosed pretty recently and I'm curious to learn about everyone's individual experience with MS and to better understand the wide variety of symptoms each person may have.

Personally, I was diagnosed with RRMS 2 and a half months ago and my symptoms started over a year and a half ago.

My symptoms include:

- a dull numbness and tingling from my left fingertips all the way up to the left side of my face

- pain in both underarms (more so on the left)

- slight hearing loss in the left ear which has almost entirely resolved (besides a faint strange feeling that I can't really explain)

- pain in the right groin and a tightness of most of my right leg

- most recently I have developed some nausea/vertigo like symptoms

What symptoms do you experience and how long were you diagnosed for?

Treatment Starting Kesimpta soon and scared.

Hey everyone!

I was diagnosed with MS in 2011 at the ripe age of 20. I did Avonex injections for about 2 years after my diagnosis but stopped taking them to have kids. Had my two sons and well, never got back on any DMT. Had only one major flare after the two that diagnosed me, and have been established with neurology and gotten routine MRIs to track disease progression every year. Lesions have basically remained the same except TWO that were in my thoracic spine have diminished. In 2014 I had two, in 2020 one had diminished, and my MRI last week came back normal. No lesions. My current neurologist has effectively scared me into starting a new DMT because of my cervical spine lesions (that I’ve had since at least 2014), and tbh I knew I would need to again at some point but I am TERRIFIED of starting such a strong medication.

To add context, I have a SEVERE panic disorder. So much so that it took me becoming damn near suicidal over being so tired of worrying I was dying everyday to get me to take anxiety meds 🤦🏻‍♀️ (ridiculous I know). I now take Prozac and Ativan for breakthrough panic but I’m so worried starting a new med will give my panic disorder more ammo to use against me. I need success stories, experiences, pros and cons, and maybe some scare tactics/bullying to finally get me to take the leap lol. Also is a DMT even necessary when my lesions are just leaving on their own? Lol

Any help is appreciated!!

Treatment Tecfidera - early results

Hey everyone!

I’ve recently been diagnosed (january with 4 old and 2 new lesions that take contrast), my kappa index was pretty high (122) so the neuro concluded a very active inflammation.

The neuro put me on tecfidera that I started end of July with the dose progressively going up to full dose by start of September

I just had my mri done (October) and they see 6 new lesions of which one takes contrast

Nothing on the symptomatic side

Has anyone had a similar experience ? Can tecfidera take some time to kick in ?

Thanks!

New Diagnosis Just diagnosed officially the 22nd!

So weird. I’m relived in some ways because symptoms have been an issue for years (my doctor had me read up on the current research on prodomal symptoms of MS) and I’ve been called every medical form of “crazy” there is to put into an EMR.

Symptoms started acting up at the end of May.

I just have one lesion at C3 on the spinal cord, so I’m very lucky it’s early on and we’ve caught it quickly. OCBs were a whooping 13. Had a fun little adventure to neuro-oncology because the lesion was presenting a bit atypically, but huzzah, we have a diagnosis.

Technically I’m “Clinically Isolated Syndrome” per my team, but I’m in the process of playing heehaw with insurance for Briumvi infusions given the OCBs and overall inflammation.

Physically I feel like a mess. My leg arm and leg/foot are weaker, and when I get tired/stressed/sick they act up and just stop working. Lots of leg spasms up the calf to my glutes. Thankfully I started Baclofen.

I’m also nauseous as heck since June. My MS doctor says that doesn’t have to do with the MS though? So no one will give me Zofran yet.

I’m also like so tired all the time dudes?

Is this it? Just a mild-moderate feeling of “blah” forever or will the DMT help a bit? I start neuro-rehab Thursday (and have been waiting since June to get into that clinic), so excited for that.

Just kind of getting it out. It’s been quite the ordeal to process.

Treatment Kesimpta

Happy Wednesday yall. I was curious what should I know as a first to Kesimpta user or something you have found helpful to make this as smooth as possible for the day off DMT and the day following? I was on Ocrevus but due to the crap gap I wanted to switch due to it impacting my work and documentation deadlines. I was curious on what to expect. Thank you all so much in advance.

Loved One Looking For Support BFF has MS - what are the best ways to support

My best friend had her first flare up since we've become friends. She had her first flare/was initially diagnosed 3yrs ago prior to our friendship and has been in remission since, so this is the first time I'm witnessing her experience symptoms. She has a lot of family support, but also is a new mom and with this being her first relapse since her remission, she's feeling understandably scared and discouraged. I guess I am just curious how others have experienced positive support from those around them? What's helped? What's sucked? Any tips for a friend just wanting to show up the best they can for their bud in this time? We've briefly talked about it prior to her relapse, but I think she was living in a bit of ignorance is bliss while in remission and not wanting to dwell on it if the symptoms weren't present. It's a conversation I want to have with her again soon, but I also am curious what others have experienced to be positive?

Symptoms Freaking out - relapse or pseudo relapse?

Hi everyone! I have RRMS and have been on Kesimpta since January 2026.

I woke up today experiencing double vision when looking to the left. I had this exact same symptom during my first relapse about three years ago.
For context I’ve been under some mild stress lately (and also PMS) and haven’t been sleeping very well, so I’m wondering whether this could be a pseudo-relapse or a new relapse, despite being on Kesimpta.
Has anyone experienced an old symptom returning after stress or lack of sleep for more than 24h? How did you know whether it was a pseudo-relapse or a true relapse?
I’ve had pseudo relapses in the past but this is the first one affecting my vision, and although it’s not a new symptom, I’m trying to not to freak out… I am scared Kesimpta is failing me
I’m seeing my neurologist tomorrow, but I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you! 🙏🏻

Symptoms Neck Issues

Hi all - following a time or increasing activity and work (with long times sitting down, working in my computer), my neck issues have returned/worsened. I have neck grinding, a bit of pain in my neck spine and some internal twitches/tremors, plus internal buzz. I also have 'click clack' sounds in the neck and sometimes shoulder joints. Has anyone had a combination of neck issues (cervical spondolytis for example) with MS? Any advice/tips to deal with it?

General Watching TV (and other media)

Does anyone find that fatigue ramps up if you're watching or reading something that requires real concentration?

I can watch reality TV, or a game show, or something comedy related without an issue. But put me in front of a crime drama, or something I have to really focus on, and after it's finished I can barely move for the fatigue it causes.

Advice Getting Tattoos While on DMT

So I made a joke about getting matching tattoos with one of my best friends a couple months ago and she booked the appointment in 2 weeks. I’m nervous because this is my first tattoo and I’m on Tysabri which kinda wipes out your immune system. I have it scheduled for a a little over a week before my next infusion. Has anyone had any issues getting a tattoo while on a high-efficacy DMT?

Advice Trying to conceive

My husband and I have decided that we would like to try for a baby. Unfortunately, I’m 41 so am aware that my chances are much lower than they would have been a few years ago. I’m also aware that it could take a long time to conceive, if successful.

I have emailed my ms team (I’m in the UK) to let them know and ask them what I should do regarding medication etc. I’m currently on Kesimpta. I have a neuro appointment in a few weeks anyway, which is my yearly follow up, but I just wondered what other people’s experience has been. I’m really keen to start trying asap but have heard that they sometimes advise you to wait a few months.

Thanks in advance. 🙂

Treatment Just started Tysabri

Hi! This is my first time posting here but I got diagnosed around 4 years ago and was on Ocrevus through the Operetta 2 study. I just switched to Tysabri because with the Ocrevus I was sick constantly and just done with it.

I am super paranoid though, obviously I know all of the possible side effects and possible disease risks but I'm so hyper aware of everything and it's freaky. My eye was a little sensitive and now I'm freaking out about retinal necrosis so that's great. I've felt fine since I got it Friday the 23rd but now today I feel like there's a bunch of new side effects that mean I'm done for
