Wondering about the Request process
So I'm considering submitting a request for an abandoned sub. I've been a mod for a little bit now, but I've never set up a sub or been the primary user responsible for it, so a lot of that is new to me.
I kind of like to know ahead of time what I'm getting into, so my question is - if I acquire a sub through the request process, does the sub just suddenly become live again? Is there any "window" during which I'd be able to knock about and set up rules, auto-mod, aesthetic stuff, before people would be able to jump in and interact?
I'd be grateful just for anyone who's done this before to help me anticipate what to expect. Thanks!

Live as in? A sub needs content and users, whether you'll get em depends on how active it currently is, how well you can "advertise" it and how willing people are to stick around.

No, once it's handed over you'll have to set up most stuff again, you'd set it so every post and/ or comment need to be approved by you but I've never needed it, just take an hour at most to set up the basic rules, removal reasons, automod etc and you're set.

Very cool, that makes sense. I didn't know if, like, the old rules or graphics or posts from before might have still been there and would either need clearing out or editing or something. I'm not sure why I thought that might be the case but that's what happens when I overthink things at 3am.

The sub banner, icon etc will be there so that’s something you’re not forced to change if you don’t wanna 😀

I've adopted a few subs now - several abandoned ones have been moved to a restricted setting (request to post) so that helps.
I will say: I had hoped that once I adopted a sub and refurbished it, people would flood in. That didn't happen. So it's okay if you go through some growing pains with members already there. It's a community; it's supposed to grow!
