Mod Suggestion A search feature in chat

Adding a search feature to chat channels so we can look for things that have been discussed before.

For example our small team had previously talked about rule changes/clarifications and troublesome users, but trying to find those messages is a nightmare of scrolling back manually.

Yeah it's one of the reasons I use discord for chats. You can't scroll far in reddit chat (it's very slow) and you can't search.

I would love this, but unfortunately Reddit search functions are notoriously not great across the board. Searching through modmails, searching within subreddits, searching on someone's profile, searching the site in general... all borked.

It would help users who claim they never received a ban message, when we tell them to reply to that instead of sending a new message.

I've been replying to their original ban messages and referencing their new messages, but some still maintain that they didn't ever receive that one either.

I know a lot of people lie just because, and trolls lie as part of the job, but I have a hard time believing that every single banned user is lying. I just don't know which ones I can believe.

A functional search for chat would be great!
