Vote! If you have the privilege to vote—please vote!

Vote for those who can’t vote. Vote for the values that you believe in. Vote for the safety of your community. Although imperfect, vote for the survival of democracy.

The campaign ads from the right, which are explicitly targeting our neighbors, make me sick. We can’t let this become the norm.

Yes, voting is a right. I absolutely agree. When I titled the post as “privilege to vote”, it derived from the millions of people who have been here for decades, paid taxes, but are still being persecuted and cannot vote. They are persecuted simply because they lack a piece of paper. And to have that piece of paper, and be able to vote, in my opinion, is a privilege.

Political hate ads

Man political ads are always hateful, but they used to attack the candidate… it seems this year tafoya and demuth have decided it’s best to attack people for also representing Minnesotans with Somali roots… the most blatantly racist Ads I’ve ever seen… man I really hope everybody knows most of us …. Are completely indifferent … polish, German, Ecuadoran, just shovel your walk and try to make it home with both gloves. We don’t “love” everybody, we don’t need to, you are already one of us, and have been for decades now. And we don’t like anybody who makes you feel like you aren’t.

Michael and Susan Pretti, the parents of Alex Pretti, criticized the federal government in their first news conference since their son was shot and killed by federal immigration agents nine months ago on a south Minneapolis street.

“Look in your heart and do what is right, share the evidence now so prosecutors can follow the facts and hold these men accountable. Do your job and stop shielding Alex’s killers,” said Michael Pretti, addressing U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche and Minnesota U.S. Attorney Dan Rosen.

Early voting

Just a heads up that the government center has open early voting for all Hennepin County residents. Went around 3:00pm from my office and the whole thing took about 10 minutes. Get it done.

Best breakfast burrito in the cities?

My local joint no longer makes their scrumptious breakfast burrito, and my cup runneth over with despair. I must find a replacement, lest I starve to death in the AM.

Where can I find a solid, quality breakfast burrito around here?

Discord Server for IRL Meetups & Events

• Upvotes

My buddy and I made a Discord server to promote and advertise meetups in Minnesota, especially the Twin Cities Area. We have been hosting events for 5+ years in various spaces and wanted to make our own server to improve upon the shortcomings of other servers. Here is what makes our server stand out:

- No bloat! Lots of Minnesota/local servers try to be everything, and it's easy to get lost in the dozens of channels for various hobbies that you dont care about. This server has been condensed to make sure the user experience isn't a nuisance.

- Hands off approach! Power tripping mods are annoying. You shouldn't be forced to jump through a million hurdles and follow arbitrary rules just to be able to speak.

- IRL Focused! This server heavily caters to IRL events and meetups. While we do have general chats and voice channels with online events, the layout of the server focuses on (in person) meetups. We take pride in having a strong focus on meetup safety, planning, and inclusion.

Join today :) https://discord.gg/esVBnRdVy

This little corner of Elliot Park - what's the history?

I'm still new to Minneapolis and thus this neighborhood. This little corner of 15th st, 17th st, and 13th ave has fascinated me as it's been fenced off for a few years, and Google Maps shows some trailer homes and general green/parking space here in the past. Can't find any info online about it.

Industrial office products supplier

• Upvotes

After we found out U-Line is terrible, we've tried to find a new supplier for our warehouse.

I know Grainger is a competitor, but are there any others that I should check out?

We do all of our machine supplies through the vendors, so we're looking for general cleaning materials.

Example, we need a new floor cleaner, new shop-vacs, new office runners, etc.

We will eventually need new storage as well, so would prefer getting everything from the same supplier.

Other than Grainger, does anyone have any recommendations?

3rd Congressional District Republicans officially endorse Anders Folk for Hennepin County Attorney

This link was texted to an unknown number of west metro voters.

"Hennepin County Attorney

Vote for Anders Folk

Anders Folk for Safe Communities & Equal Justice

In this "Non-Partisan" Hennepin County Attorneys race, there is only one choice that will reverse the soft on crime policies of the current County Attorney, Mary Moriarty.  That choice is Anders Folk.  To learn more about Anders, click here:  https://www.andersfolk.com/home

This message and text represent an Independent Expenditure Prepared and Paid for by 3rd Congressional District Republicans, Box 390722, Edina, MN 55439.  Not coordinated with or approved by any candidate nor is any candidate or their committee responsible for the text nor this website or its content.  To learn more about the 3rd Congressional District Republicans, click here:  https://www.cd3mngop.com/"

Anders Folk campaigning with Washington County Republicans for some reason (the reason is volunteers and money): https://www.facebook.com/share/1bFUPorvyY/

Anders Folk advertising the endorsements of (still Republican) former governor Arne Carlson, Mike Erlandson (former DFL chair, current Republican donor), "DFL" city councilmember Elizabeth Shaffer (who has donated to Republicans and won the DFL endorsement in part by recruiting other Republican donors to the Ward 7 convention), the Hennepin County Sheriff deputies union (don't really feel the need to add any comment on this one), and Dawanna Witt (who failed to get endorsed by the DFL after her department's brutal collaboration with ICE at the Whipple Building and elsewhere): https://www.andersfolk.com/endorsements

Can we please end this charade now? Cedrick Frazier is a Democrat with a record as the leading criminal legal system reformer in MN, Anders Folk is a Republican who supports going back to cramming as many Black kids as possible into jail. Vote according to your party preference.

Looking for people to split a Club/VIP package for Meshuggah & Testament @ The Armory (Feb 19)

A buddy and I are heading to see Meshuggah and Testament at The Armory on February 19th. It’s my first time at the venue, and looking at the layout, the club/suite options look ideal but you have to buy the packages for a group, and right now it's just the two of us.

I'm putting feelers out to see if anyone wants to split a package with us to bring the per-person cost down.

If you’re interested, shoot me a PM and we can work it out.

Senior state government reporter Matthew Blake has been following Demuth's campaign from the beginning, and is sharing his insights about her unlikely rise in Minnesota politics. We get into Demuth's actual record on fraud, why it's been difficult to cover her campaign as a reporter, and what happened when Blake reached out to Demuth's daughter for his story.
