It really would be a disappointment to have survived pandemics, wars and everything else perpetually trying to kill us to only go down to some lettuce from Taco Bell.

1

u/Spazmer Aug 04 '26

Funnily enough we Canadians had Crosscountry Canada instead of this. And our lettuce is just fine! Though we're still on the lookout for carjacking hitchhikers.

1

u/BrutalDishonesty Aug 04 '26

I've been having tummy cramps guys.

1

u/cconnorss Aug 04 '26

I’m currently dying of diarrhea, but I swear I steered clear of the lettuce. Must just be good ol’ fashioned dysentery.

Targeted T-shirt energy

"Don't mess with me. I'm a Millenial who was BORN IN APRIL IN 1984. I drank from waterhoses. I know how to kick-flip. I know all the lyrics to Possum Kingdom by heart. I had a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed birthday party when I was 9. I don't feel like I'm old, but sometimes my back hurts. And YES, my two roommates went halfsies to buy me this shirt."

Needs a minion in the corner

19

u/EastTyne1191 Aug 04 '26

We need to set ourselves apart.

Instead of a minion, it should be a vague song lyric that we based our personalities on in 1997. Something we thought was the most insightful song ever.

Options include:

• Semi-charmed life

• Candle In the Wind

• I Believe I can Fly

• Quit Playing Games

• If It Makes You Happy

• Everyday is a Winding Road

• Carrying Your Love with Me

• Longneck Bottle

I'd also accept these songs from other years:

• No Scrubs

• Livin La Vida Loca

• Smooth

• Only Wanna Be with You

And of course, anything by Smashmouth or Alanis Morissette.

2

u/Sac_of_Melons Aug 04 '26

And here I am 31, don’t feel part of the millennials or Gen Z. In generational limbo

2

u/Proletariat-Prince Aug 05 '26

Some of us are as little older than that and would still jump off the porch if you come around talking shit.

But anyway, I gotta get to bed....

1

Had to scroll too long. I was about post whelp that makes me what …an ancient millennial!?

1

u/Lunar_Cats Aug 06 '26

Also I do feel pretty old.

1

u/thus_spake_7ucky Aug 04 '26

And 37 isn’t really “elder” status since it’s closer to the end of the generational span than the beginning.

- survived ______
- (negative trait) but still (strong trait)
- unstoppable!

Like it just reads as cringy Boomer/X’er stuff on Facebook lol

8

u/sleepbubble Aug 05 '26

it’s cringe regardless of how old a millennial you are.

3

u/FullOfBlasphemy Aug 05 '26

Elder Millennial here, this post is cringe AF and is def Boomer stuff.

1

u/anthonyrucci Aug 06 '26

This is hard panned Boomer. Gen-Xers are alright with me.

u/LegalChocolate752 Aug 05 '26

I'm 38, and I'm getting a little worried here. Am I going to be reposting this cringy, Boomer-Facebook crap when I'm 44? Or is this an isolated incident?

It's pretty cringe.

45

u/eg415 Aug 04 '26

37 is considered an elder millennial? 😭

55

u/SeaPeanut7_ Aug 04 '26

Personally I would break it down to 40+ being elder, 34-39 middle and 30-33 as younger

8

u/babylonglegs91 Aug 04 '26

Yeah I would agree with this

5

u/InfoMiddleMan Aug 04 '26

Also agree with this.

2

u/Temu-Tyson Aug 05 '26

92 millennial. I feel as if I have much more in common with zillennials than my older millennial cohorts.

1

u/Unusual_username739 Aug 04 '26

I’m 30 and lived through all of this (but I would not stay I’m “unstoppable”. I am fully stoppable).

So as a younger millennial, what do I do, oh wise ones? 😭

*my eldest brother is 7 years older than me and I lived off his hand-by-downs so that’s probably why. I got his clothes, his gameboy, his razor scooter, etc

1

u/not_so_french Aug 05 '26

see you at your funeral old chap!

20

u/Fluffles21 Aug 04 '26

Uh, elder millennials I’ve always seen defined as 1981-1985. I’m 38 and have never considered myself part of the elder millennials

7

u/CaterpillarAble9787 Aug 04 '26

I was born 86’ and considered myself a core millennial and recently turned forty 🤷🏽‍♂️

2

49

3

u/WideHuckleberry1 Aug 04 '26

Yeah, we've had so many "once-in-a-generation" crises as long as you define "once-in-a-generation" to "anywhere from mildly disruptive to severely bad."

1

u/Agent_Smith_88 Aug 04 '26

That might undersell it a little bit. We are the first generation in America to not be doing better than our parents. I would agree we aren’t the first generation to have massive upheaval events, but economically we are setting records for how terrible our generation has it.

→ More replies (2)

4

u/KylosLeftHand Aug 04 '26

I always hated the thought process like we personally have been victims of an awful time period. Like the “being born in 1985 means we survived 9/11, the housing crisis, Great Recession, blah blah blah” as if people born in 1900 didn’t survive 2 world wars, a global pandemic, and the worst economic depression in history…AND they did that shit without air conditioning. We are squishy as marshmallows compared to other gens.

1

u/Constant-Skill-7133 Aug 04 '26

Also what were we all in the second tower and barely made it out?  I didn't survive Hiroshima. I just watched a very sad terrible thing happen on TV.

1

u/oh_look_a_fist Aug 04 '26

They lived through those difficult times and made easier times ahead of them by demanding more from their civic leaders, who then listened. The adults in the room during our periods of shit are actively making recovery more difficult and then blaming us somehow.

Get outta here with your boomer-ass take
