From Ukraine:News site: GERAN-5 K5-K REPORTED DOWN IN ODESA REGION [1280x960]
"A Russian Geran-5 K5-K reportedly crashed in Odesa region following a technical malfunction. Close-up imagery shows a largely intact, missile-shaped airframe lying in a field, potentially giving Ukrainian specialists valuable access to its construction and onboard equipment.
The Geran-5 is a jet-powered, one-way attack drone whose shape and performance resemble a small cruise missile. Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence lists the documented Geran-5 as approximately 6.5 metres long, with a 3.2-metre wingspan and a maximum take-off weight of 850 kilograms.
Its published specifications include a 90-kilogram warhead, a cruising speed of 450–600 kilometres per hour and a range of approximately 950 kilometres. These figures describe the documented Geran-5; precise measurements and performance data for this recovered K5-K have not been established."
Ukrainian specialist Serhii Beskrestnov has described the K5-K modification as incorporating optical navigation alongside increased speed, range and flight altitude. That combination presents a more demanding interception challenge than slower, propeller-driven attack drones.
A relatively intact recovery could help Ukrainian specialists examine the engine, guidance equipment and electronics, identify foreign components and investigate weaknesses. A weapon intended to strike Ukraine may instead provide information that helps strengthen its defences."
