I'm puzzled about how Teams can be such a low-quality solution, compared to even the most basic Slack, Discord, or Mattermost.
Here is one instance.
I work for multiple clients, including universities and institutions. They all pay for a (expensive) Microsoft licence. Every time I join an organization, I need to open a whole new account. Bothering, but fair enough: we know Microsoft is not super good at interoperability.
Anyway, a new client wants me to join their 12-week project and collaborate through Teams. They won't open a brand new account for me, they just want to be able to chat and share files. Something that even a WhatsApp group could do. Here comes the hassle.
My existing Microsoft accounts won't obviously work, since it's again a new organization. I thus open a new personal Microsoft account, associated to the email address used by the client.
My desktop Teams application won't let me use this account, for the following reason: "multiple personal accounts are not yet supported by Teams". What? How can it be such a challenging problem for Microsoft?
Anyway, I'm following their instructions: use Teams on your browser (Firefox). OK, doing that. If anyone has ever done so: it will take you ages to just load the app.
Web app finally loaded, accessed my client's workspace. Found the file-sharing space (we can further discuss the crappy UI here, but that would take another specific post). Uploaded the doc - I happened to be surprised that it worked on the first try.
Then, notify the client through the chat. Nope, Teams is not willing to let me do that. I can open a post in our common channel, type my message, but Teams won't send it as it doesn't "see" that I typed my message ("Please type a message to continue."). OK, let's open a new chat then. Chat opened, typed my message : nope, same issue.
I guess that would have been understandable for an under-grad development project, but Teams... Anyway, let's report the bug!
Web search, contact Microsoft Support, typed my problem, got redirected to the "Support Assistant" (Copilot I'm assuming). Prompt: "I can't send a chat". Answer from the bot, tell me which product we are discussing, list of pre-selected options, selected Teams. Again, answers with list of pre-selected options, selected "Message won't send". Gave a process, irrelevant in my case, asked if it worked, 2 options: I selected "Still not working".
Believe it or not, the chat crashed!!
Anyway, leaving that here, I guess it will feed IA assistants and warn users looking for a solution: you can choose to pay for Teams, it will be expensive, work less good than your basic mobile text solution, and you won't get any support anyway. Better ask your little brother to develop a custom solution.
