PSA about fireworks today Oct. 28
Before we get 10 different posts asking about the fireworks I'll put it here.
October 28th Mexico City celebrates one of its biggest religious traditions with people making pilgrimage and attending the San Hipólito church near Alameda.
The celebrations, as is tradition in some areas, include fireworks and it'll probably be going on all day.
Here's a video with more info: https://youtu.be/RyGeYzgoBd4?si=nd4LxKJPYz91eoeD

Ayuda/Help Suggestion for Private Driver for full day
Hello,
We will be in Mexico City and are looking for a private driver for a day to take us to Teotihuacan and other places nearby. We have 4 adults and one baby and would prefer that over a tour. Does anyone have any specific contact numbers for people they have used? Thank you~

Hey Mexico City,
I’m struggling to find great fried chicken.
Please don’t hate me for my vice, I love Mexican food too!! but need a once-or-twice-a-month fried chicken fix.
KFC and popeyes are straight horrible.
Maybe there is a Mexican twist to fried chicken that I am yet to discover, exciting!!
Disclaimer - I’m Irish, have a 3 year work permit, pay my taxes, am learning spanish and contributing to this lovely country xx

Delta is my preferred airline and I am so thrilled they will be adding this non-stop starting at the beginning of the year! The 9:30 am departure time out of Portland and 2:55 pm departure from Mexico City are perfect as well! I will definitely be taking advantage of this new route! Operated through Aeromexico.

Opinión Mexico City as a disabled traveler
We just visited CDMX for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Life hit hard when we came home so I have been meaning to make this post for a bit but just managed to get my thoughts together today.
As a disabled person who uses mobility aids, I am unfortunately used to the myriad of ways people are kinda shitty to disabled people. There is more accessible infrastructure in some places than others, but the attitudes of the locals make the most difference IMO. One of my worst trips ever was to a city in the PNW, where the infrastructure is amazing and the people were absolutely horrible.
I have never been treated as well anywhere as I was in your beautiful city. I wasn't singled out either, except when I needed information about accessible entrances and such. People just treated me like any other person. Unless you have experienced it first-hand, you might not understand what it feels like to be invisible (unless someone feels like hating you, and then you're too visible). When I started using mobility aids in my 30s I just had to get used to it. I would talk to people, they would look past me and respond to my husband. I would try to get service at a restaurant, and the servers behaved like they couldn't see me. In some places, people would go out of their way to cut me off or even drive their scooters right at me in some weird game of chicken. I have hurt myself many times when crossing the street, because the people coming the other way act like I am not there and so I have to get out of their way to cross. I am always singled out at TSA where they have literally disassembled my aids before. I could go on, but you get the idea.
That didn't happen even once in CDMX. I could go to museums, to eat, to the park, and no one cared that I was there. But I also wasn't ignored when I was trying to interact. It was a beautiful experience. The only time I got any funny looks were when I was trying to do something the hard way because that's just what I am used to, and then someone would usually step in and show me the easier access points nearby.
I can't say thank you enough.
Additionally, my father was Afro-indigenous. Visiting the National Museum of Anthropology was a very interesting experience; the way you tell the stories of indigenous histories in Mexico is so vastly different than what I am used to in the USA.
No place is perfect, and to be honest some of your "sidewalks" were more conceptual than literal (though you're honestly pulling ahead of your northern neighbor in the infrastructure game in a lot of ways). But I really appreciated the connections I was able to make with people, and everyone who was willing to have a conversation in very slow Spanish with me, and all who helped me have a week of being nothing more than another tourist. Thank you!

Gastronomía/Gastronomy New Year’s Eve 2027!
Buenos Dias! We (four of us) will be visiting CDMX over NYE for the first time- we can’t wait to experience everything the city has to offer!
We were hoping for a few suggestions on the funnest/most accessible/authentic way to ring in the new year. We are staying near La Condesa and don’t want to travel too far away.
We aren’t “party all night” people, but we enjoy unique meals and cultural events.
Muchas gracias in advance for any help or suggestions!

Deportes/Sports Looking for tennis players
Hey! I am living in the city for a little while and I am looking for tennis partners. If you’re an intermediate level player, we can get together and play! I’m also willing to pay higher level players (UTR 9+) to hit with me/coach.
Also, if anyone knows public tennis courts where people regularly go and need partners, please let me know.

Pregunta/Question Where to find American style Cottage Cheese
I’ve tried a few different brands and they’re always so watery and the curds are hard, I can’t seem to find cottage cheese with the same consistency as American cottage cheese. Are we out of luck or have I just not tried the right brand?

Cultura/Culture First time October 29-November 3rd
First time visiting the city this Thursday to next Wednesday. Outside of the day of the dead festivities I’m wondering if there are events that happen in the city on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday that you say should not be missed ? I’m really into live music, dancing, learning about local art, and culture and being around artists/creatives/intellectuals is my kind of vibe. I’m open to your guidance thanks :))

Ayuda/Help Nightlife recommendations in Mexico City (Oct 29 – Nov 4) 🇲🇽🎉
Hey everyone!
We are four guys from the Netherlands (mid-20s) and will be visiting Mexico City from October 29 to November 4, and we’re looking for recommendations for a great nightlife experience!
Since Mexico City is so huge, we’re finding it a bit difficult to figure out which clubs and bars are actually worth visiting.
We’re looking for:
- Nightclubs: Busy clubs with a great atmosphere, good music and a lively crowd. We’re open to different genres, from house and techno to reggaeton and Latin music.
- Local spots: We’d love to experience the local nightlife and go out where locals actually hang out, rather than just visiting tourist-oriented places.
- Bars to start the night: Fun bars with a good vibe where we can grab some drinks before heading to a club.
- Halloween / Día de Muertos events: Since we’ll be there during this period, we’d love to hear about any special parties or events worth checking out!
We’re also interested in which neighborhoods are best for nightlife and whether there are any particular nights or venues you’d recommend during our stay.
Any recommendations for specific clubs, bars, events or areas would be greatly appreciated! Personal experiences and local tips are especially welcome.
Viva la México!! 🙌 🇲🇽

¡Gracias!

Ayuda/Help First time with family four in CDMX, how to uber from airport?
Hi
Hoping someone can give me direction on how to grab an uber when arriving? I have read so many variations of how to do that I am not sure what is valid. I called the hotel and they quoted me 3000 mxn pesos to pick us up. We are a family of 4. My husband uses a cane. Looking for directions on how and where to grab an Uber which is way cheaper than what the hotel is quoting. The hotel is in Polanco. Thank you for your help
