The Shrimp Pinkey. It comes with a wrist rest. I think it got discounted because it seems like the company does not produce these anymore. The website is at least not updated. I just thought it was cute and colors fitted my setup.
Really wish it was a bit longer so I could play CS on it without messing with settings.

Keyboards with southpaw support are pretty rare!

I'm right-handed, but I actually find it more comfortable to have the numpad on the left when using my mouse.

The Luminkey98 V2 is pretty cool since you can switch the numpad between the left and right sides while keeping the 98-key layout. Such a neat feature!

The design is really clean too. I especially love the machining marks on the weight. They look so good!

Builds FNCTL CO walnut Preonic case with MT3 Fairlane

I've been on a bit of a green kick lately but I thought I'd shift over to blue for a bit just to give it a shot on here.

The Preonic custom walnut case from FNCTL CO is definitely a must have for any of you Preonic users looking for some good looking chonk on your desk. It was a blast working with him on this thing! I've still got many more keycap combos to keep trying with it (MTNU Skyriter anyone?).

Keycaps: MT3 Fairlane

Switches: Cherry MX2A Nixies

Case: Custom chonk of walnut

Obsessed with how this came out!

- Weikav Nut65
- Zealios v2 78g
- GMK CYL Windbreaker

Types like a dream! I may have been a bit enthusiastic with the 78g, fingers get tired but the weight and bump is unmatched. The photo doesn’t do the colors justice, and my coworkers can hear me typing from a mile away (they describe it as “meditative legos”)

Builds My first mechanical keyboard, bought with my own money: URX Core 75

Post image
9 Upvotes

Got my URX Core 75 today and I’m still grinning like an idiot.

Until now I was typing on the built-in keyboard of an old Dell laptop, so this is a massive jump for me. It’s the first keyboard I’ve ever bought with my own money, and I was a bit nervous about whether it would be worth it. It is. The build feels premium, the sound is really satisfying, and I’ve been typing random stuff in Notepad for an hour just to hear it 😅

Build details:

  • Keyboard: URX Core 75 (75% layout with a knob)
  • Switches: Stock switches that came with the board (not sure of the exact model yet, will update when I find out)
  • Keycaps: Stock black set with red legends
  • Lighting: Stock RGB
  • Mods: None yet, completely stock
  • Firmware/customization: Nothing yet, still learning

Nothing fancy, just a stock board, but it means a lot to me as my first one. Planning to explore the hobby slowly from here.

Thanks for reading!

been using the black gmmk pro (brass plate, filmed lubed spring switched jwk quartz ,tempest and tape modded ) or at least 5 years now or so.and ive decided to replace the pcb since there are rgbs that are always on already.but functionality wise its still a solid board.i found a used barebones with an alu plate and rk linears for a aolid price and was able to snag and transplant the board to the one im using (i dont use rgb.) and i decided to build the 2nd board out for my so since the board is fine and the rgb she uses.the donor kb was scratched up so i decided to have it powdercoated in a rose gold color and it turned out great! will now decide on a cap set for this (maybe white or something) and give it to her when she comes back to my city

Weighs 5KG, took me over two hours to assemble, and sounds amazing. The buckling springs feel and sound perfect. The end game of heavy clicky keyboards. I have an original IBM Model F XT from 1983 but this modernised version is sooo nice. Modelfkeyboards.com if you want one.

Builds Keychron Q1 V2: Stock caps vs. Womier shine-through Cherry caps

Post image
• Upvotes

Before and after swapping the stock keycaps on my Keychron Q1 V2 for shine-through cherry profile Womier keycaps I nabbed from aliexpress for 17 bucks

I wanted something that would let the backlighting shine through the keys while giving the board a lower-profile feel. This keyboard is stock, comes complete, but man those stock caps are tall.

These caps feel much better than the stock caps, but since the leds are on the bottom of the switches, they don't shine through at all. However, while I'm not in love with this keyboard, it's way better than the super low profile mac one that preceded it.

What do you think of the change?

1 FR4, light sage.

1 PP, basalt grey.

personal preference was PP plate for me. I'm looking for black keycaps, for the basalt grey one. already use FBB Dragon well tea for the light sage.

A little warning before anyone starts typing away, the layout is wrong cause I was too impatient to build it and see how it looked overall. I'll be receiving some new stabs very soon so the layout will have proper symmetry.

Build:

Gmk bkre

Hmx Yogurt S

Random Frankenstein stabs I found lefover

Pom plate

Builds Oh my frogs... It's too cute.

Aula WIN68 HE. This board sucked when I first got it, sounded terrible, switches were crappy and un lubed, keycaps were cheap and crappy, but what do you expect for a $40 HE keyboard?

I swapped the switches for some Pre lubed epomaker creamy jades, and this super cute frog themed keycap set. I also added some silicone to the case and taped the back of the PCB and it sounds and feels MUCH better now. This is a great starter HE keyboard if you don't mind doing some fairly affordable mods.

This thing is CREAMY sounding, albeit the tiniest but hollow but hardly noticeable.

Photos I tried giving it a vintage finish myself!

I tried giving this board a vintage finish using Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black (bluing solution).

I originally had a vintage Orca look in mind, but as I worked on it, it started leaning more toward a baiolenja aesthetic instead!

*keyboard : transition lite alu top

Process:

  1. Strip the anodizing or coating.
  2. Apply the bluing solution.
  3. Create distressed marks by dabbing with sandpaper.
  4. Apply another layer of the bluing solution over the surface.
  5. Finish with a matte clear coat.
