Admissions I got a rescinded offer.. what do I do

For context, I did not receive a credit for a class so I missed a credit to graduate. I was accepted into social science and the class is not a needed preq. My top 6 was much above the conditional offer and this class was NOT in my top 6. Naturally, I am taking it over the summer i finished w a 94% (the class just finished), However, I got a email saying I did not meet my conditonal offer my as summer school doesnt upload marks until the first week of august. It was the single requirment I did not meet, yetI got an email back saying Im unable to attend this fall for social science and i’m being pulled out early next week. Is there anything i CAN POSSIBLY do? i feel like literally ending my life

Admissions Mcmaster Masters of Global Health Program 2026

Applied to this 1-year master's program, and the program page says admissions will likely go out by the end of May or later as things change between years. Does anyone who applied last year remember when they heard back? I would need to move for the program so I was hoping to hear back sooner rather than later. Any comments on the competitiveness of admissions too?

Hi all,

Currently in gr12 in Ontario and mac eng co-op is basically my top choice. To everyone currently attending, what was your average in high school? What is the highest you’ve seen someone get rejected? I am aware that there is a spreadsheet on r/OntarioGrade12s but I just wanted more insight from you guys. Thanks!!

Admissions Grade 12 confused abt Life sci, Isci, Kin, Chemical & Physical Sciences Gateway.

Hi I’m currently in Grade 12 and my goal is to go to medical school (straight med school, not nursing, not med or something etc.). I’m trying to decide between the following programs and would really appreciate experience from current students, especially those who are also aiming for med school.

1)How would you rank these programs (top 3) for increasing the chances of getting in for someone applying through OUAC?

2)Would you choose these for the best preparation for med school (relevant coursework, flexibility with electives, time for extracurriculars, etc.)?

1)Health Sciences This is currently my top choice since it’s a clear pre-med pathway.

2)Life Sciences I would likely specialize in Biology, Biochemistry, or Neuroscience. Also, there’s no supplementary application and admission is based purely on grades, and about 1,000 students get in.

Concerns: The cutoff is very high (around 95%). If my average falls to 1-2% below, how much of a disadvantage would that be?

Question: If I fall a few marks below the cutoff, how badly does that affect my chances or my experience in the program?

3)Honours Integrated Science Only about 65 students are admitted, and the specialization options that interest me are Biology or Neuroscience.

Concerns: The small class size makes admission very competitive, and it limits my specialization options.

4)Kinesiology I know it’s a solid pre-med route and many students go on to med school from it.

Concern: I’m not particularly interested in the Kinesiology courses like idk I feel like i wanna do more cell biology or bio or organ what is happening inside organ, the chem behind it like inside human body rather than bone, muscle, joints etc. Not saying it is bad but idk I feel like i like more human body exposed study like Biology. Has anyone been in a similar situation and still found the program worthwhile?

5)Chemical & Physical Sciences Gateway Similar to Life Sciences in that it leaves a lot of room to specialize later.

Concerns: Only about 100 spots, so admission is competitive. I’m also unsure whether I’ll take Physics next semester (leaning toward not taking it).

6)Medical Radiation Sciences From what I can tell, first-year classes overlap a lot with Health Sciences, Life Sciences, and Kinesiology, with some Radiation-specific courses mixed in. Not sure how this compares as a pre-med pathway.

7)Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences (iBioMed) – Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering stream This would require taking Physics. what I’m not considering, but it feels more engineering-focused than pure pre-med. Is this still a reasonable route if my main goal is medical school?

I’m feeling quite torn between these options and would really appreciate any honest opinions or rankings from current students. Thank you!

Admissions Recovering from a bad grade in first year

Im a first year student and I wanna hear some stories from upper years about how they were able to recover after getting a bad grade in first year. Whether it was a test or assignment how did you pick yourself back up and improve. I’m lowkey finding myself struggling with the adjustment to uni and want to know what you guys did to improve. My strategy in highschool was to always aim for a 100 on everything so that no matter what happens I land near that number….but lowkey I’ve been landing in the 70’s as of rn with all these midterms. Please can someone tell me it gets better after midterms 🙏

Admissions Would you recommend Mac life sci?

I’m a current grade 12 student trying to explore my options for uni. I am considering applying to Mac life sci and Waterloo life sci. For current first years who are at Mac, how are you liking it so far? I heard life sci is hard to maintain a high gpa in first year compared to other unis like Waterloo. I am honestly someone that doesn’t really know what I want to do after undergrad so I was leaning more toward Mac life sci but I also want to be in a program that helps maximize my gpa and keep as many options open. For any upper years reading this, if you could go back would you choose this program again or go to a different school? Any advice would be greatly appreciated I feel so lost :’)

Admissions Potential Applicant - How is Hamilton?

Thinking about applying to McMaster, for context I am 17, I have a 3.9 unweighted GPA and I am from the United States. I have three questions I would love to have answered:

  • What is it like living in a city with so many people? I live in a town with less than 800 people and I'm mainly curious as to what the culture shift would be like? I can't remember the last time I went anywhere with more than a population of maybe 100,000 let alone 600,000+.
  • How's the traffic? I drive a 1994 manual ford and I don't want a full leg workout when I am driving out and about. Should I invest in a newer more fuel efficient automatic car?
  • I am an avid hockey player and goalie and I hear that there is a relatively active club program at McMaster. I play AA in the northeast, is that at all comparable to what I should expect for the level of competition?

Thanks to anyone who sees this and can provide valuable insight as to what I might expect If I am accepted 🙂.
