IMAGE So…
Lately, I’ve been coming around the fact that this three album run is her imperial phase-not commercially but artistically.
Mother has never shied away from genuine experimental sounds and sonic weirdness but here she’s genuinely so bizarre musically,it’s giving me life. Even her contemporaries were very obviously started to get stuck in 00’s mainstream homogenous sounds and then we have the Queen of the universe doing completely her own unique thing.
Music is probably the most forwardthinking pop album I’ve ever heard and American life has some of her best songwriting there+Mirwais magic.

If there are any Bowie stans on here... this run of albums is her Berlin trilogy. I said what I said.

If you remove AL from the equation, it was yet another imperial phase for her commercially. Confessions actually sold almost the same as Music after that.

And what a glorious “return” it was as well purely musically speaking. Just decided not to include it here because it’s not as left field as these three-although it’s just as good

I couldn’t agree more!!! American Life is such an ageless sound of an album. I hope one day on its anniversary Madonna puts out a Deluxe version.
Ray of light is iconic.
Music is endlessly relistenable.
Also, she looked absolutely stunning during those eras
