Over the years I've tried to play this game several times, always starting and losing interest for various reasons.

This time tho for some reason it did stick and I am very glad it did, allot of that has to do to me not playing an open world game for quite some time, not using fast travel ever, looking at the map very rarely and just not planting waypoints. Over the time one simply gets used to look for landmarks and navigate that way.

This game really takes a while to properly get you hooked and depending on how one plays it can really be bad. I found that for me not focusing to much on clearing a map but rather just drive around helped with the initial part, after that the game just rolled for me I never felt any need to go somewhere and do something just because it was on a list, that being said once the race was done I did not do any sidequests and just went on and finished the game it felt wrong to stop and do any sidequests there, thankfully I've done most of the stuff I wanted so that is ok but it is also a testament on how free you feel in the parts before the race starts.

The more I spent time in the world the more I started noticing some deeper stuff like how max seemingly knows what everything is even though people around him, even older doesn't seem to. This at first looks as an oversight but game plays really well into the idea that Max is indeed mad and with everything going around it is hard to determine just how mad he is.

I also like how plainly disturbing and violent the game is while at the same time being so normalized that you really need to just stop and look around you.

The whole digling part is just pure unspoken horror. There is that segment when you have to find Glory and in one of the holes there is a blind ( or that is how it looked to me) digling that just looks at you, says nothing and returns to the hole, that one made me pause for a while, even now thinking about it makes me feel real unease which not many games did for me, it is almost bizzare just how much in some moments this game reminds me of spec ops the line.

Chumbucket is a work of art, such a good character and such a good idea to balance Max. The part where Max is silent and Chumbucket pleads with him is just so very well done, it is moving in such a unique way. And given how for most part everything from the hideaway to the gastown has been pretty much cleared by that point and most of the stuff upgraded there is just this silent drive back with Chumbucket just pleading as he realizes where we are going, it was just such a good storytelling.

It is rare for a game to just allow everything to get so wrong and just leave you there. I know it is kind of foolish to expect a happy ending but I expected a somewhat amicable ending if nothing else not downright grim dark.

And when you finish the game you are brought back overlooking a cliff and chumbucket just says "Cars fixed, lets go" and you can't but wonder just how much of Mad there is in Max.

Fantastic game for all its flaws, glad I've listened to my gut feeling and kept trying.

So I'm playing on Xbox and I was thinking about getting a disc with the ripper DLC code cuz I want to get the body WB play is down or rather service for this game is gone and I'm curious if I were to buy the factory seal disk from online with the code and put it and it's installed and everything will it still work

Playing it for the first time & found out about capture mode... That's my kryptonite.

Mad Max has some brutal fights, but I think the most satisfying moments are the ones you dont plan. 😂 You are driving around looking for scrap, a bunch of War Boys start chasing you, your car is already damaged, and suddenly the whole thing turns into a fight for survival.

Sometimes I end up spending more time dealing with random encounters than doing the actual missions. The chaos just feels right for this game.

I am curious, what’s one moment from Mad Max that made you think, that was absolutely worth playing through? Could be a crazy car battle, a difficult camp or something completely unexpected.

At the start of the game I am very certain that every water source I came across used to be filled to the brim and it would just fill up my container once. Now I'm well into the game where I get a 90% bonus and the water in sources have decreased down to about 40% of it's total volume and it still just fills my container once. Does the game actively calculate how much water there is depending on my bonus? If so this is the biggest bullshit mechanic I've ever seen in the video game. What the fuck is the point of me wasting all those points then?

Started playing Mad Max thinking the car was just a way to get around, but after upgrading it for hours, I started treating it like my own ride 😂 Anyone else spend more time customizing their car than actually doing missions?

I guess I'm obsessed because I'm seeing parts of the game whenever I'm not playing!

Finally after 251 hours of gameplay I made 100% of this masterpiece, I first played this game In 2019 and just now In the big 2026 I did it.

I've been playing Mad Max with my own set of survival rules to make the Wasteland feel as dangerous and immersive as possible.

I like to imagine Max surviving out there in the years leading up to Fury Road.

No mods required. Just the game's existing mechanics and some self-discipline.

THE RULES

1. PERMADEATH — THE BIG ONE

One life. Start to finish. If Max dies, the run is over. No reloading to undo mistakes. No second chances.

2. NO FAST TRAVEL

Every journey must be made across the wasteland. Your vehicle, fuel, health and water supplies actually matter.

3. MAP CAN ONLY BE CHECKED WHILE STATIONARY

If you want to consult your map, pull over first. No checking the full map while driving.

4. VEHICLE MODIFICATIONS AT OWNED STRONGHOLDS ONLY

No magically changing the Magnum Opus in the middle of nowhere. If you want to adjust your build, return to a owned stronghold with a workshop. The ones with Chumbucket working on the hanging engine.

5. NAVIGATE BY SIGHT

When you have no waypoint selected, activate Capture Video Mode to remove the minimap.

Navigate using the landscape, roads and distant landmarks. Good opportunity to use filters.

Want your minimap back? Stop the vehicle, consult the full map and select a destination.

Think of it as Max deciding, "I'm going here." The minimap now represents his intended route rather than a magical GPS.

SURVIVAL IS EVERYTHING

Nighttime Buzzard encounters and attacking enemy bases become much more intimidating. Whether you fight or avoid danger depends on your condition and available supplies.

Sometimes the smartest decision is to walk away.

HAVE I BEATEN IT?

Nope!

1 recorded death on your stats means you failed the challenge. Don't cheat.

Some of the most heartbreaking deaths aren't even from enemies. They're from taking one wrong turn inside an enemy base and falling from a height.

But that's the wasteland. No excuses, no reloading.

One day I'll make it from start to finish without dying.

One man. One machine. One life. Complete the story.

Anyone else keen to give this a crack? Or already playing with similar survival rules?

Playing Mad Max, I sometimes forget how messed up everyday life would be in that world. We spend hours driving through the wasteland, fighting War Boys, and hunting for scrap, but imagine having to do normal things there.

Like, what would you even do if your car broke down in the middle of nowhere? No roadside assistance, no mechanic down the street, and probably someone watching you from a nearby dune waiting to steal whatever you have left 💀

Honestly, I think keeping a working vehicle running would be a bigger achievement than surviving most fights.

What's one ordinary modern-day thing you think would become an absolute luxury in the Mad Max wasteland?

Do you avoid using things like the flare gun, just so you can experience having to find a new vehicle?

I'm playing for the first time. When I was at Jeet's place, I really tried my hardest to spruce the place up. It felt like home, and Jeet was like an annoying younger brother managing the place.

Now I've gone to Gutgash and am close to visiting Pink Eye, but I don't feel close to those places at all.

I’ve always loved Max's coupe from Mad Max, so I decided to add it to the game I'm working on!

Has anyone that maxed out the trophies and all wasteland missions ever tried that road North(?) just to the left of Gastown? I'm curious if it leads to a hidden game or just gives the warning about dead zones. Maybe in the Interceptor.

Today we see huge wave of recomps of the games, like for example You can now play ps4 games natively in full speed on PC. With AI we could created Game editor for Mad Max game to extend it. Probably gog version would be the best. We could add new parts to the map with new missions, new content and so on. What do You think? We could make our own Mad Max 2 game by extending original one.

I finally started the mad max game and I’m having more fun than I expected. The car combat is great, and driving around the wasteland feels good. Upgrading the magnum opus and clearing out camps is more addictive than I thought it would be. I know it came out a while ago and people had mixed opinions at launch, but it seems to have aged pretty well. The story is a bit simple, but the world and the atmosphere make up for it.
