Local Update Wednesday Event Space: Post your next club meet or other events here!

We want to hear about your club/guild meetings!

"Contact your local machine knitting club" is probably the biggest piece of advice we offer newbies on the sub (with the exception of checking the sponge bar of course) but meetings can be hard to find. Not all clubs have a social media presence, some don't have an online presence at all. We'd like to help our Machine Knitters discover meetings they could potentially attend.

If you're a member of a machine knitting club/guild, please post here about when and where your next meeting is! If you see a meeting you think you might like to attend, please respond to the commenter or DM them to discuss. (Please make sure you specify the country and city, as the sub is worldwide).

We'd also love to hear about any textile/fibre arts related events happening soon near you.

This is a recurring post we are trialling, running Wednesdays. If you have any feedback, please message the mods.

Happy knitting :)

Help! Changing swatch gauge without changing stitch size? (intarsia)

Hi all, I am looking a for a bit of advice! For a project, I need to knit a flat square with lots of different coloured rectangles tiled together (see the picture below) and my plan was to use intarsia. I am using different yarns that I've got from unraveling a bunch of jumpers so they are all slightly different thicknesses. This means that when I knit them together using intarsia I can't change the stitch size between different yarns and the swatch isn't flat as the gauge is different for different yarns.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to change the gauge of a yarn without changing the stitch size. For some I am able to double up the yarn but I was thinking that maybe adding in another clear thin yarn might make a difference?

Any advice/comments are very much appreciated!

Hi everyone! I recently bought a double-bed Tewi Matic and I'm having some trouble making it work. I don't have any experience with knitting machines, so I don't know if it's me or if there's something wrong with the machine. I've heard that knittax is similar. Can someone help me??

Help! Sentro 40 pin

Heya! I’m primarily a crocheter but I’ve been enjoying learning knit little by little. I’ve recently got a 40pin sentro mainly for ear warmers & stash busting, but the suction cups are crap even when I clean them & their connected surface, so I have to hold it still while struggling to crank it. I’ve realized most but not all 4 weights will go through it which is fine, but why do I still have to crank it so hard with yarn on it, & it click so loud? I’ve used compressed air to clean it of any yarn/debris, oiled the pins with 3in1 oil I was given, dried off excess & cranked it about 25 rounds both ways to spread the oil per various YouTube videos of not the sentro I have, what else can help it smooth out? I’d appreciate any suggestions, visuals/video would be better, thank you!
