I remember listening to Chaelās podcast a while ago (long before you signed with the UFC) and he said,
āRemember the name Ricky Simon. You may not know him right now, but he will be a world champion. Keep your eye on him.ā
Whatās it like to get praise and learn from the man with the biggest arms in West Linn Oregon?

u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
Chael is the freaking man. Not a lot of people know how cool of a guy he is because of his fighter persona, but that dude has done a lot for me.

u/ryjiso1106 Jul 11 '19
I've heard this on the underground so much that Chael is a super sweetheart to people and helps a lot of upcoming guys. Good luck in your fight with Urijah freaking Faber dude.

I could listen to Chael explain how 2+2=5 and end up agreeing with him.

Right? I think he is the only one that could convince me the earth is flat, lol.
I'm so happy ESPN brought him in as an analyst. More so I'm happy he has that talent so he can still be involved in the sport he loves eventhough he's retired and make a living.

You're on an impressive win streak, and 3-0 so far in the UFC, now facing a UFC Hall of Famer. What does it mean to you to be able to showcase your talents on a big stage and against a big name?
100
u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
It means everything to me. Thatās the goal for just about every fighter once they begin the journey. Iām on the biggest stage doing what I love and Iām about to beat up a HOFer

u/Rapes_to_Save Jul 11 '19
Aside from you, who has the best mullet of all time?
If I cut it, does your powers go away

What in Godās name was going through your mind when Merab was bicycle kicking his legs when you had that choke on him?

u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
I honestly thought it was a Joey B/ Elliot situation at first, I could feel him going in and out.

u/Sprunch Jul 11 '19

u/IamEthanSlamberry Jul 11 '19
Do you drill shoulder strikes/bumps like you did in your last fight?
117
u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
I drill bump offs to strikes, but nothing like what I did to Rani lol that was just a spur of the moment kind of thing

What were Montel Jackson's hands like? The commentary team said they are bigger than Ngannou's
132
u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
Yeah that was a weird one lol I didnāt even think about it until he gripped my arm in the first round and I had to figure out what the hell was going on

u/himynameisdany Jul 11 '19
Were you aware Matt Damon and Chris Hemsworth were in attendance in your last fight at Australia?
How did it feel winning in front of an Avenger and Jason Bourne?

What weight do you typically walk around at and is the weight cut difficult for you?
99
u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
I typically walk around the mid 60ās. I always say no man should weigh 135 pounds

Hey Ricky, what is an area of your game that you think people aren't aware gives you an advantage over your opponents? Any favorite techniques?
40
u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
I think my pressure and tenacity is one of my best attributes. I love a flying knee ko
19
u/Heebmeister Jul 11 '19
Hey Ricky, love to watch you fight! What do you credit your cardio to? The pace you push is just unreal man, good luck this weekend!
49
u/RickySimon135 Jul 11 '19
I never let myself get out of shape. Even out of camp I run at least 20 miles a week on top of practices. I also train in an altitude room in Portland Oregon.

u/Kimera25 Jul 11 '19
What was your reaction to the Masvidal KO?
