One would assume going out in public driving drunk and having shoot outs with hoodlums at parking lots isnt right. But it actually is
13
u/PinkynotClyde Mar 10 '26
Just make sure after you drunk drive into pregnant women, that you run off with all the drugs, and sober up before saying you’re sorry that you made an oopsie in front of Jesus.

It's definitely even worse than almost beating your not-wife to death, but not as bad as slapping your yes-wife at a casino.

u/movingunderbraking Mar 09 '26
this is kind of a beautiful situation. dana’s white house card is meh, jones gets fucked over, and fans get to hate both of them. the real loser here is both of their wives. now’s the time to invest in ice pack and frozen vegetable companies if you catch my drift.
46
u/CaptainSasquatch Mar 10 '26
both of their wives
You're gonna feel even more sorry. Jon Jones isn't married. She's been his fiancee for around 13 years.
29
u/MassiveWeather6964 Mar 09 '26
Dude you should be writing professionally. That was a hit, comedy and mystery piece all wrapped into one. Let's hope the Ms's are off on vacation somewhere, or Oscar is going to have a ton to talk about on Clap back Thursday:)( well done

Yeah this is very obviously a slightly different “the kid just doesn’t want to fight” situation. Aka “everyone pressure him to accept lowball money in the future”

If there was a single-tier justice system that worked, Jones would be serving cold potato salad and grey meat to his fellow inmates somewhere. Maybe putting the fries on their tray on the last Friday of the month, if they have special food days.

he needs to ally with Tom and hire Eddie Hearn, that would be hilarious.
20
u/GripAficionado Mar 09 '26
The funny thing is that Jones could probably get paid more if he actually became a free agent and were willing to fight Ngannou (or do some freak fight against Eddie Hall). But I don't think that's a fight he's willing to take, he probably just wanted the Pereira fight because he thought it would have been relatively easy for him.

After everything I've given to the UFC, the years, the
, the fights, hearing that I'm "done" is disappointing title defenses
Did he completely forget that he posted a long statement announcing his
8
u/FawkYourself Mar 10 '26
2 times in the last 6 years. Took 3 years off, was gifted a title shot his first fight back
Popped for PEDs multiple times, cocaine at least once. Has been in trouble with the law like a half a dozen times. Never faced any repercussions from the UFC for any of it
I hate what the UFC has become and I despise their scummy business practices, but Jon has been treated better than anyone in that organizations history except for maybe Conor
5
u/bullsfan281 Mar 09 '26
he’s responding to dana saying that jon will never fight in the ufc again. ariel has confirmed that the ufc and jon were in negotiations for the white house. if dana is now saying that they’ll never offer him another fight, then yeah he should be released from his deal
461
u/Itchy-Ad1047 Mar 09 '26
Where does the truth lie between two chronic bullshitters?
Mysteries that may never be solved
149
u/OwlFull8955 Mar 09 '26
The UFC has been cunts to any fighter with enough status to ask for their worth , examples being Gina, Randy, Fedor, Stipe, Cyborg, Ngannou, GSP, and Tom.
I actually don't think Jones is the issue here.
92
u/GripAficionado Mar 09 '26
He's notoriously difficult to work with, but UFC is professional assholes who fuck over fighters regularly.
59
u/jrghetto602 Mar 09 '26
My personal bias aside (Jones got me into UFC/MMA and was my favorite fighter until...you know)...The UFC has been a pain in the fighters' side when it comes to being treated humanely since I can remember, and I've been a fan for 15+ years. So if we are calling Jon being hard to work with a flaw in this case...I can't get behind that. He is a liar, he is ignorant, he is a danger to the public and his loved ones, and he is likely a cheater in more ways than one. I don't, however, believe his being hard to negotiate with is a mark against him when the other party is the UFC.
14
u/WeAreInControlNow Mar 09 '26
People also forget that Jon has family that are/were professional athletes, so I’m sure he’s gained a certain perspective that most fighters don’t have.
5
1
u/buddha8298 Mar 10 '26
Just fyi, they’ve been pain in the fighters side (which is easily the nicest most generous possible way to put it) since forever. There’s never been a time where they were even remotely decent. Ever.
0
u/HighCaliber Mar 10 '26
The guy who as a champion refused to fight the #1 contender is not difficult?
I hate to take UFC's side against a fighter, but for Jon Jones I'll make an exception.
He clearly stated that he is under a contract. That contract obviously states what his purse should be, and yet here he is refusing to fight unless he gets paid more than was agreed. Why would UFC entertain that?
I'm fine with fighters trying to get the bag, but maybe he should have thought of that when he signed the deal. Trying to reneg on a signed deal is sleazy regardless of which party does it. UFC allows a little wiggle room for their stars, and obviously Jon wanted way more than that and UFC declined.
I'd call that being difficult to negotiate with.
17
u/_Cyclops Mar 09 '26
I mean he seemed really easy to work with for his first ten title defenses until he started asking to be paid accordingly
8
u/GripAficionado Mar 09 '26
Apart from the time they had to move an event to California on a weeks notice due to him "pulsing", his drug suspensions etc.
5
u/ghidfg Mar 09 '26
yeah seems like they tried to make the fight, couldnt reach a number, and daner smears jones on his way out as per usual.
3
u/eqpesan Mar 09 '26
I'm quite sure Jones is the issue here, when he was supposed to fight Aspinall, Dana secured 30 mil for him but he pulled out anyways. Jones is most likely asking for a similar number without realising that boat has sailed.

u/jaybizzleeightyfour Mar 09 '26
Dana never wanted The fight imo and the way Jones is reacting, he's definitely pissed and he thought he was going to come back and get easy money to manhandle Alex
1
u/skepticalbob Mar 09 '26
That the UFC didn’t offer Iower that what he wanted, but it was still a huge number. So Jon Jones declined it hoping to negotiate. Dana lied about it. Now Jones is pretending that the huge number was a lowball.

This psycho let the entire UFC fanbase down after shitting his pants over potentially having to face Tom even though it would've been the single biggest payday of his career, by far.
Now he's crying because he can't break his fake retirement to fight Alex 😂
You love to see it.
100
u/_Abajaba_ Mar 09 '26
What’s funny is that he could solve this whole Tom situation so easily without fighting him and being hated. Just honestly say from beggining “I’m old, I won’t fight this guy, let me fight Miocic and retire” done. And now UFC would let him come back for white house as well

u/havertz007 Mar 09 '26
lol.
Let’s be real.
He would have been given NO grace if he did that.
One thing I have to give to Jon is that he won’t try and placate an army of people who hate him. He just keeps on trucking.
45
u/Lynch47 Mar 09 '26
Don't forget Francis either. Jones "retired" until Francis waited out his contract and left the right way instead of being one of Dana's chess pieces.
1
1
u/DerangedGoneWild Mar 10 '26
Incorrect, they were all negotiating Jones vs Ngannou late in 2022. Francis didn’t re-sign so he was replaced by Gane.

But he's never gonna get released...not without fighting out his contract.

If that were true Dana wouldnt be suspending his favorites and would be suspending and firing the people he hates.
There's been like 6 people suspended in the last 10 years. Most of them are people Dana was pushing.

u/rezwah Mar 10 '26
How dare they, after everything hes done for the UFC.
Cocaine binges, pregnant lady hit and runs, beating his partner in front of his kids, popping for roids on multiple occasions and causing main events to fall through.
Even just recently holding up entire divisions TWICE. Hiding from Francis for 3 years because "it takes time to move to heavyweight" then showing up fat with no extra muscle the second France leaves. Then a second time because of greed and fear of fighting someone in their prime. A 31 year old, 6'4, 250lb Tom Aspinall is a lot scarier than a 35 and 38 year old 5'10 Daniel Cormier. And Jon cant risk that blemish on his record, his ego wont take it.

u/SpaceMambo369 Mar 09 '26
This is Dana's revenge for what Jon did with the Tom negotiations.
15
u/Marty5020 Mar 09 '26
I'm honestly inclined to believe this, knowing how petty Dana can be. I wouldn't rule out that he kept feeding Jones' team as a negotiation pawn but without real intent, perhaps.
11
u/WeAreInControlNow Mar 09 '26
I think it’s more likely they were negotiating with Gane at the same time incase Jones didn’t work out because of his history, and they were right.
1
u/geardownson Mar 10 '26
That sounds on point. Dana wins either way. He can low-ball Jones and if he doesn't accept just hold him so he can't make money lol
24
u/RabbiVolesBassSolo Mar 09 '26
Sorry, but no way Jon or Conor are serious about fighting. Pretty sure they’re just creating drama to stay relevant enough to box Jake Paul.
5
u/goldenglove Mar 09 '26
I mean, Jon fought last year. Conor is a whole different story. Conor has also made 20x what Jon made, so less likely to return for financial reasons too.
2
u/GripAficionado Mar 09 '26
Pretty sure they’re just creating drama to stay relevant enough to box Jake Paul.
Which they can't do if they're under contract, which is why I'm sure they are very eager to get out of their contracts.
1
u/mike10dude Mar 09 '26 edited Mar 10 '26

u/SCWickedHam Mar 09 '26
Fuck jones. But having a contract without specific payment amounts seems like no contract. “You have to fight the three times for us. But we decide who, when, where, for how which.”
29
u/GripAficionado Mar 09 '26
And if the president then proclaims that he's never going to fight in the organization again, I think that's a pretty good legal argument for why he should be released.
4
1
u/goldenglove Mar 09 '26
Agreed. Jones can be a shitbag but the UFC shouldn't be able to offer just any amount (even a lowball) and satisfy their requirement to offer fights. Either release him or make him a reasonable offer.
1
u/NoWaterOnEarth99 Mar 09 '26
But having a contract without specific payment amounts seems like no contract.
My understanding, which could be wrong, is that fighters have a base contract (ex: 4 fights 500k show/500k win) but when they sign a specific bout agreement (ex: Jon Jones vs Alex Pereira) that's where fighters will negotiate for more money
1
u/SCWickedHam Mar 10 '26
Yes. Under the non-champ contracts the amount of pay and number of fights might be set. But it is still when/who/where the UFC decides. If you want to champ, and you are ranked 5, you don’t want to be fighting #15 every time. You don’t want to fight on short notice. Etc. Once a champ, it becomes a one fight renewal. You get some negotiating power, but still UFC has the say at the end of the day. Look how they hold up a belt for a year for one fighter and will move for interim champ in a week for another. Their model is built on the fighter not being important, the brand is. So, let the fighters out of contracts.
10
u/Bruin1217 Mar 09 '26
Didn’t this mf retire like a year ago? After only fighting like twice in six years?

he has a legitimate complaint if the CEO of the company publicly stated he can't fight anymore. Jones is not some 20/20 guy that people will forget about in a week. this is why the UFC doesn't want any fighters to be too popular.
