News & Discussion VEFA Buyers’ Protest - 31 October

Post image
33 Upvotes

VEFA buyers are organizing a protest on 31 October from 12:00 to 13:00 to ask the Government for:

➡️ Better protection for VEFA buyers
➡️ Faster completion of unfinished developments
➡️ Governments help for current cases that have already been impacted
➡️ Reconsideration of the mandatory two year tax break rule via the Bëllegen Akt
➡️ Stronger oversight of property developers
➡️ Greater transparency regarding project delays and insolvencies
➡️ Fair treatment and support for affected families (Legal support and compensation)
➡️ Faster legal procedures

This protest comes after the recent young people protest asking for affordable housing (including rents).

The Government is still indecisive and presents no concrete measures for victims of the VEFA crisis, or people in need of homes. These protests are meant to voice people’s concerns and hopefully stir politicians into actions before the situation becomes even worse.

Ask Luxembourg Anyone selling an RTX 5090 in Luxembourg?

Hey, probably a long shot, but does anyone here happen to be selling an RTX 5090 or know someone who is?

Looking to upgrade my PC mainly for Blender and rendering, so I thought I'd check here before buying one from a retailer

Don't mind buying used as long as it's in good condition. Ideally with the original invoice

Can meet up anywhere in Luxembourg. Let me know if you've got one and what you're asking for it

Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg Saarbrücken emergency ambulance charges?

I’m a resident in Luxembourg with a valid CNS card. I had a medical emergency while visiting saarbrucken and needed an ambulance to take me from my location to the ER which was 5 km away.

Today I got a letter in my mailbox saying I am required to pay €765 for the service and that 30 days after receiving this letter I’ll be in default.

I had a similar emergency in Sweden but didn’t receive such a bill- is there any chance this is a mistake that I should clarify with the hospital?
And if not, is this something I can claim from CNS?

Travel, Tourism & History Weekend

Hello ! I spend the Halloween weekend in Luxembourg Town, going to the Gzuz concert Saturday !

I'm French but speak English, and I'd like to find someone to visit a bit, eat something traditional for lunch and all !

If someone is up and go to the same concert alone, I'd be happy to spend the day together !

Ask Luxembourg Private staff hiring

Hi all, has someone already hired a private staff and could share the experience on the CCSS side, what you don't like about it? I'm curious about the 2-month later payment (you pay the net wage to the employee and then the gross amount to ccss) + the tax-return allowance.

Also, do you know if it's possible to hire multiple private staffs in a certain period? eg. cleaning ladies on-demand, instead of hiring one for a full month

Thanks!

Ask Luxembourg Paid Postage in Luxembourg

Probably a stupid question about postage in Luxembourg 😂
I’ve realised that some places, like the CNS, let you send letters without a stamp, but for other places I’m never sure.
For example, when sending documents to the CAE, the tax office, immigration, or private health insurance companies, how do you know whether you need to put a stamp on the envelope/prepaid envelope or whether you can just send it without one?
Is there a list somewhere of which institutions cover the postage and which ones don’t? Or do we just have to check each institution individually?

Honestly, why are we still mailing so many documents instead of being able to submit everything online in 2026?
Would appreciate any tips from people who’ve figured this out!

Grabbed from a Linkedin post

[..., we are moving to a time when more and more people will become independent, partly because it is so hard to get a job when you are over 50 (like me) and yet the political system seems unaware of the difficulties.

We need the social security system to work better for this group. But in a time when budgets are squeezed what specifically could be done and who pays? Join us this Tuesday 27th of October for a lively debate!!]

News & Discussion Renovation work in black

I'm surprised by the amount of people who feel comfortable doing extensive renovation work though individuals and companies not issuing an invoice.

I'm not talking about changing a light bulb or painting the walls, but redoing the roof, bathrooms, floors etc.

I was convinced that this would not be the case in a country like Lux but maybe I was too naive 🙈

Immigration & Relocation Marriage tax reform query

Hey folks,
I have been in Luxembourg for over 4 years and planning to get married in April’27 (just the official documentation), while the ceremony will take place in October’27, for which I will travel back to my home country in September.

I want to take advantage of the current tax reforms (before they change) and for that I want to register my marriage in Luxembourg before Jan’28. As my spouse will not be working, hence this will help me get the tax benefits for the next 25 years

Stating below my confusions:
1. Are these new tax reforms already passed by the parliament? Is it official?
2. How long does it take for the family reunion process (assuming I submit the translated marriage certificate in May) I want to take the documents back with me in September to apply for the Visa
3. Is the tax benefit contingent on the marriage getting registered in Luxembourg OR the actual arrival/declaration of spouse in Luxembourg?

Appreciate the inputs, thanks!
