Going Ahead [02/11/26] Anyone interested in a casual play reading group?

Hey! I’m 27F based in West London and wondered if anyone would be up for getting together to read plays aloud? I really enjoy immersive reading and reading aloud and think it would be fun to each take a character and read through a play together. I’d love to start with The Barber of Seville by Beaumarchais. Nothing serious just casual and no acting experience needed, just a relaxed and fun way to get into a story and meet some people!
Haven’t figured out a meeting place yet or logistics yet

EDIT: There’s some interest. PM me I’ll set up a WhatsApp or discord group to talk logistics :)

Going Ahead [30/10/26] [-31/10/26] Games Transformed Festival (Left-Leaning Political Board Games) - Bethnal Green

I’m not sure who came up with this idea or how long the festival has been running, but it sounds great! I’m planning to go on one of the days, it would be cool to have someone to go with. (38m, looking for +/- 10 yrs ish politically engaged people ✌️)

“Love games. Hate capitalism.

Games Transformed brings organisers into games, and game makers and players closer to organising.
Through festivals, events, and partnerships, we explore how games can challenge power, build solidarity, imagine revolutionary futures, and collectively work towards liberation.
We celebrate games as an art form, connect play with movement struggle, and create spaces where cultural work, political education, and collective imagination intersect to inspire new worlds.”

What is it?

Europe’s largest immersive art experience, where the lines between art and reality blur.

Step through the portal into Absurd City, a parallel world filled with surreal installations, hidden surprises and mind-bending visuals.

This non-linear, self-guided experience is designed to spark imagination, whatever your age or ability.

There’s no right or wrong way to explore! Get involved in the story, hunt for hidden secrets, or simply enjoy an out-of-this-world day trip.

It's from the people who do this for Boomtown (festival). It comes highly recommended from some people who I spoke to who are sort of connected to the Boomtown side of it

Outing details:

We're going on Sat 12th Dec at around 1pm/1:30pm (two slots, some of the group are going for one, others for the other). We'll all be together once inside. You do your own adventure, or in small groups, but it will be nice to have friendly faces around. We're maybe 10 to 20 people so far

With the code ABSURD10, tickets are about £20.60 which you can book at the link above

There's a WhatsApp group for this event and also a general group for interactive and immersive theatre. Links can be shared via PM

[01/11/2026] Sunday Pub Quiz at the Canonbury Tavern

This Sunday is World Vegan Day. Meat and dairy replacements have become much better over the years - vegan cheese is now really quite good - but they still really haven't cracked bacon, have they?

Come and join us at the Canonbury Tavern for the pub quiz!

What:

Pub Quiz - Exactly as it sounds! A quizmaster asks the questions and teams write down their answers. Questions cover a range of subjects and the quiz features picture and music rounds. It is all for fun and there is no pressure to memorise the encyclopaedia before coming.

Where:

The Canonbury Tavern https://maps.app.goo.gl/xocQRtc3PDJrQF676?g_st=ic

Our tables are usually immediately on the left as you enter the pub, but you can ask staff for LSC when you arrive - there is usually someone with a laptop who has a record of bookings.

When:

Every Sunday, the pub quiz starts at 19:00, with the picture sheet being given out around 18:40. Tables are booked under "LSC" from 18:30. Two tables are booked but we will try to make any number work. We recommend arriving around 18:30-18:45 as you'll get to take a greater part in answering the picture sheet questions, but it's also really helpful in working out how many teams we'll have - as well as chatting beforehand!

How much:

£2.50 per person payable to the pub quiz people (Cashless only).

Who:

All are welcome. We typically make two teams with around 12 people.

Do I need to sign up / am I too late?:

Ideally, please leave a comment either on this post or in the WhatsApp group to let us know you're coming, and with how many people - with as much notice as possible - so we know how many teams we will be and roughly how many per team. It's not a huge problem to turn up after it starts, but try to be there on time to avoid missing the fun!

Do I need to be a whizz-kid, intellectual genius, or quizzing-extraordinaire?:

Nope, we do the quiz for fun.

Any Questions:

Write them into a comment and we will answer them - we are kind of into that.

We also have a WhatsApp group chat. Ask around on the day in person to be added.

Going Ahead [26/11/2026] Anyone up for winter wonderland

Hey everyone! 👋

A few friends and I had planned a day out in London on Thursday, 26th November, with Hyde Park Winter Wonderland as our main destination. We originally booked tickets for 6 people, but unfortunately, 3 friends had to cancel. So, we now have 3 spare Winter Wonderland tickets and thought it would be a great opportunity to meet some new people and make new friends! 😊

Here's what we're thinking for the day:

🌅 Morning plans: We're considering a few options:

- 🤸 A trampoline park for some fun and laughs

- 🔬 The Science Museum

- 🌇 Sky Garden for amazing views of London

🎡 Later in the day: Head to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland to enjoy the rides, festive atmosphere, food, and Christmas vibes!

Nothing is set in stone yet, so we're open to suggestions. If you know any other fun places or activities we could try, feel free to share your ideas. We can discuss everything and make a plan together!

If you're interested in joining us on 26th November, feel free to comment or DM me. You don't need to know anyone beforehand. It's a great chance to meet new people, hang out, and enjoy a fun day in London! 🙌

Let's make it a memorable day! 🎄✨

[07/11/26] Radiohead double - Hamlet Hail to the Thief @ Barbican (matinee, 2:30pm £30.50 - we have spare tickets) followed by Just Radiohead (tribute band) @ O2 Academy Islington (evening)

A few of us are indulging in a Radiohead double header next Saturday

First up is the Hamlet Hail to the Thief play based on the incredible 5th album

We have about 4 tickets left for this at £30.50 (this date is sold out)
https://www.barbican.org.uk/whats-on/2026/event/hamlet-hail-to-the-thief

Then in the evening there's a tribute band Just Radiohead. I've seen them before and they're good. Closest you're going to get without a plane ticket as it stands.

My preference for taking one of the play tickets is that the person comes to the evening gig too. People can also book just for the gig and join us.

I saw the play last year at Stratford-Upon-Avon. It was really good. I was there for the Radiohead side. My friend was there for the Hamlet. We both enjoyed, as did everyone else I've spoken to who went there or Manchester. It's 105 minutes instead of 3 hours and has lots of music too. Note there's been some sort of change with production companies, although I'm sure the effect is negligible especially if you've not seen last year's version.

There is a WhatsApp group - link via PM. There's also a WhatsApp group left over from last year's gigs where we share and talk anything Radiohead related. It's rather quiet now except when there's a release or event - link via PM too.
