Discussion Do you want Nathan Fielder to host this year?
I feel like he would be hilarious and a good fit. Especially since he graduated from one of Canada’s top business schools with really good grades.

Discussion SNL writers kill jokes the same way every time
I don't know if this has been mentioned on here before, but SNL has been repeating this trope in the last couple years that absolutely kills any subtlety or momentum of a joke.
The most recent example is from Bachelorette Party Strippers. Arguably the biggest laugh comes from when they take off their cardigan and reveal the same cardigan underneath. The audience laughs very loudly, its an obvious joke and everyone understands it.
Then Veronika says "why are they wearing two cardigans??"
So she just states the exact circumstances of the joke we all just laughed at? It kills the momentum, it doesn't add anything funny and it there isnt really anywhere to go from it.
The other recent example is from Sunday Supper. It's slowly escalating until Dismukes picks up a gas can and covers himself in gasoline. Again, funny. Everyone got it. Everyone laughed at how absurd it is to have a gas can in your living room.
Then Bowen says "you keep a jug of gasoline behind your couch??" YES. THAT WAS THE JOKE. WE GOT IT.
It mostly seems like this is an intervention into the writing, as if some higher up who isn't writing the sketch is worried we won't understand the exact circumstances of WHY what we just saw was funny, which is such a bummer. Explaining a joke kills a joke and they're doing it more and more.

Discussion Sooooooooo......what else you got?
thick accent + elevated volume + everything latino themed x all the time = have you got anything else???
Movie guy is never funny cause he doesnt watch the movies (unlike Bailey Gismer/Jebediah Atkinson)
Domingo is never funny cause you see it a mile away and it never reaches the high of the first hit
perhaps his minor in 'awkward guy' (Marco Rubio, random bits) works better??

Discussion When's the last time a host and a cast member became best friends like this?
This isn't even the first time Veronika and Sabrina have hung out outside of SNL. I'm pretty sure she hung out with her at one of Sabrina's concerts a few days after she hosted. just thought this was neat because It's cool to see a host and cast members forming a long-term bond.

if she was actually fired instead of departing on her own, what do we think she would have been fired for?

Discussion I'm going to hold your hand when I say this
You don't have to watch Saturday Night Live. If you've been watching since 1975 or if this is your very first season, you don't have to watch Saturday Night Live. There are lots of other television shows and movies out there, you don't have to watch Saturday Night Live. If Jane Wickline is the devil to you, you don't have to watch Saturday Night Live. If seeing Mikey Day slap Jalen Brunson makes you uncomfortable, you don't have to watch Saturday Night Live. If everything the cast and writers do doesn't make you laugh, you don't have to watch Saturday Night Live
Edit to add that my ranting is not aimed at the critics, but at the people who seem to be completely miserable at every facet of the show. It's like they're hate-watching.

Discussion Who Are Some Of The Non-Comic Hosts That Truly Outshine The Cast
Adam Driver gives his 100% whereas Ariana leads solo sketches! Both of them are amazing.

Discussion Amy was great but I laughed hardest when my mom sincerely asked if this was another sketch
No hate on Role Model, his songs were catchy. But my mom doesn't watch SNL so she didn't recognize the transition into musical guest. She saw Amy introduce a guy in sparkly pants singing in a barn and she assumed it was a joke.

Discussion A Decade of Mikey Day
Mikey Day joined the cast of SNL in 2016.
It is now 2026.
We have had a decade of Mikey Day.
A decade.
A decade of… this.
We have had a decade of Mikey Day.
My God.

Discussion Time for a Weekend Update change.
I’m in my mid-40s, and I grew up watching SNL since the early 90s. For those first 20 years or so, Weekend Update would get a new host every 5 or 6 years. Kevin Nealon, Norm Macdonald, Jimmy Fallon, Tina Fey, hell even Colin Quinn. Each change brought a unique style, a fresh perspective, and just a new feel for a new generation of viewers.
Then, for whatever reason, SNL landed on Colin Jost and Michael Che and decided, alright, let’s just use these two forever. Don’t get me wrong they were the right choice originally and I can forgive them for keeping them on longer than some, especially during some roughness finding solid cast footing in the late 2010s.
But I think this lack of change is part of why I barely watch SNL anymore. The show just feels so samey, year after year. Weekend Update used to be one of the ways the show reinvented itself, especially important as the midpoint of the show, keeping people watching, and now it feels like it’s been stuck in the same place forever.
There’s literally an entire generation of Gen Z / Alpha viewers who have never known a different Weekend Update team. That’s madness.
It’s especially frustrating because there’s some great talent in the current cast. I think Ashley Padilla would do amazing as the WU host. And I’d love to see it go back to just a single host for a bit.
Anyone else feel like Weekend Update has gotten incredibly stale and want a change?

Discussion That was seriously one of the worst skits I’ve ever seen.
No hate to any of the cast member but that’s was so insanely unfunny and repetitive.
