I’ve been putting together my CachyOS desktop and really like how it turned out. The interface feels clean, simple, and beautiful without being cluttered. Sharing a screenshot in case anyone else enjoys a minimal desktop setup!

this is my first setup:

-i edited hyprland to be scrolling like niri.

-installed another github to give me the zoomout view.

-edited the key bindings so i can change the order the way i have shown in the vid.

i didnt use niri because caelestia isnt as native to it as hyprland and it misses some of the fluidity and flexibility hyprland has, but i am sure it will get better in the near future

i havent done any ricing or styling other than this, i am thinking of styling the terminal the panels and so on next

what is it: a keyboard-first wallpaper picker for quickshell. scroll through your wallpapers, type to filter, hit enter. with matugen it re-colors itself (and the rest of your setup) from whatever you pick. the m3e is material 3 expressive.

works on: X11 and Wayland, with feh/nitrogen/xwallpaper/hsetroot/awww/swww/hyprpaper/swaybg or your own command.

credit: this is a modification of magetsu002/qs-wallpaper-picker, go star theirs, it does way more (video wallpapers, wallhaven search). the carousel look comes from ilyamiro's nixos config.

This is my fork of Vela (https://github.com/vela-desktop/vela), a Wayland compositor + Qt Quick shell that looks like Windows 11. I forked it for myself and keep adding the things I want.

It's vibe coded. AI writes the code, I test everything on my own machine before it goes in.

This is my actual desktop and I use it every day, so it'll still be around in a few months.

Running on CachyOS with an RTX 4060. Other distros might work, haven't tried.

Hey everyone!

Wanted a little animated Pikachu running on my bar, so I ended up making a fun little script that lets you put a running Pikachu or any of the 151 Gen 1 Pokémon on Waybar/Polybar. You can swap them anytime with `pokebar set <name>` or pick a random one.

A somewhat retro themed rice with one of my favorite Hondas ever built. It took some time to figure out the angled waybars but it was doable.

What are some of your thoughts on this?
