Hello and request for moderators!
Hello everyone! I'm a moderator over at r/shihtzu as well, and I joined the r/lhasaapso team around 3 months ago to help set up the user verification system that has cut back on spam and reposted / stolen content in this subreddit.
When updating the subreddit settings today, I was surprised to see that the original moderator's account had been deleted, and the other person on the mod list had a suspended account.
I'm not sure how long the subreddit has been running itself due to the automations I had in place, but this isn't a great long term solution. I'm happy to stay on as moderator, but I'm also looking to see if anyone would be interested in taking on the role here. I'd really like the subreddit to be run by someone passionate about Lhasa Apsos!
If you'd like to help or have questions about what this would mean, please reach out to me by clicking here!
Please include why you'd be a good moderator, one suggestion on how you'd like to improve the subreddit, and let me know if you have any prior moderation experience (on reddit or elsewhere).
Thanks again!

My 16 year old Lhasa ❤️
Mimi turned 16 in August. Deaf as a post but she still sees decently. Is somehow getting quicker on walks, aging backwards I think… my best friend since I was a child. Bursting with love for her so sharing it on here!

Puppy Alert! A new pup and senior :)
Recently adopted a Lhasa pup. My third. First had passed, leaving behind current senior (10 years old) without a companion (they were brothers in arms for 9 good years).
So the time is ripe to find a companion for senior.
Puppy is exuberant and very active. Senior is adapting to puppy and seems to take to new puppy well.
Household is so much more active now. Love it when I see them wrestle with each other.

Found dog
Found Male Shitzu or LhasaApso
Found at: Cypress Park & Recreation Center 2630 Pepper Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90065
Currently: North Central Animal shelter.
3201 Lacy St.%20452-7381)
Los Angeles, CA 90031%20452-7381)
(888) 452-7381%20452-7381)
The dog does not have a chip or collar. He was very dirty and has been in the neighborhood wandering for a least a couple of days according to some people in the area.
He is not inclined to come to people, but approached a dog walker with four dogs and he was able to be picked up
He is not aggressive. He is okay being held and rode fairly nicely in my car.
However, he wanted to get out of my car and I almost lost him when he hopped out. He might be someone’s beloved lost pet.
Please cross post this. I’m sure he will be adopted quickly once the stay hold is up.

Puppy Alert! Puppy experiences
Hello
This is Scout, a 5.5 month little Lhasa apso.
She’s my second Lhasa girl, having lost my little Bella after a wonderful 11.5 years together.
Scout could not be more different to Bella as a puppy!! She is wild lol. Bella was super chill even as a pup and my grandparents lhasa was the same. Scout is your typical puppy, always hyper , always wants to play. She struggles to settle with me in the evening.
We went through some very bad biting, leaving me so bruised people in work checked things were ok at home 🙈 I have that mostly under control now which is great and we have done puppy classes. She loves people and other dogs.
She has only started to lose her teeth now, so still a good bit of teething to go!
I’m keen to hear other people’s expeirences about their puppies and if they ever mellowed 🙈
I love the playfulness and excitable nature but I also would love her to be able to relax on the sofa with me, and eventually sleep up in my bed.
She has no problem relaxing on her own, if I pop her in the kitchen she’ll go for a nap, but I’d love her to nap on the sofa with me. I hate putting her away for a nap feels so mean, and just a different experience to Bella who jsut fell asleep where she was when she was tired.
Any similar experiences or any advice on how I can help her chill?
I give her natural chews but they ramp her up lentils and she loves to throw them about and hunt them lol
I am hopeful this is a lot of puppy energy and she will learn to settle soon!

No dew claws?
I noticed the other day that my two 10 month old puppies are missing dew claws. One of them has a little nub but without a nail.
Is this common for Lhasas? I would imagine they were likely removed as opposed to being born without them. Makes me sad to think they were removed when they were babies.
I didn’t get the puppies from a breeder, but from a woman who had medical issues and coils no longer take care of them so I can’t ask the breeder.

Behavior
i currently have an 8 month old Lhasa apso for the first time! i got him at 4 months. i love him so bad and he was easy to potty train, but when it comes to behavior itself it’s hard to get him to stop being bossy and stubborn. Is there any advice for the most effective way to train this breed to listen more? Is it because he’s young?

Recent adoption
Hello everyone this is Frankie and I adopted him mid-July. The rescue wasn't sure if he was shih tzu or lhasa. The vet I took him to noted him as lhasa around 2 to 3 years old. I do know he's a very good boy 😊

Discussion The eyees
Does anyone in health have a dog with eye issues? Our twinkie is a beautiful little girl. She's given a prescription gel twice a day for very dry eyes. There's a technical name. I forget what it is. But all around your eyes gets thickened and brown. I'm wondering if anyone has any tricks for keeping this cleaner. Besides getting frequent grooms and trims, we also will hold a warm cloth and try to clean it as well as we can. But she doesn't like it too much
