Promo [MM] Uncovering Brandon - Chapter 1 - Making Friends

• Upvotes

This is the first time I’ve tried writing. I’m very happy with the feedback I’ve received so far. I started posting on Substack and it’s all free, but the first chapter and the Epilogue are on my profile here. The first chapter is the shortest. I’ve been lengthening as I go and I’m currently working on chapter 7. Spicy stuff doesn’t start until the second chapter.

Promo Typhonic - A 🏳️‍⚧️coded Superhero(ine) LitRPG-lite Adventure

Hi all! My goal with writing Typhonic was to create an original Superhero(ine) story that wasn't just the usual Marvel/DC storylines recycled and rebooted again and again. I also wanted to channel a bit of my own struggle in discovering myself over the years before I comfortably landed on being AroAce.

The idea for the setting unironically came to me in a lucid dream. It's a combination of 🏳️‍⚧️themes, nobledark overtones, intrigue similar to the World of Darkness, and some LitRPG-lite mechanics.

Part of me is a little nervous posting here due to this being my first explicitly LGBTQ+ focused novel. I've written inclusive characters in past books/projects, but never as the main focus outside a visual novel. I just hope my beta readers are right and that you will find this book to be as compelling and respectful as I aimed to be!

Dust Jacket:

Sometimes the strongest heroes come from the most villainous backgrounds.

Life for Morgan Axios seems idyllic to anyone else looking in. His family is one of the most affluent, superpowered crime families in Gravesea City. Whatever Morgan wants, he can get his hands on. Well, everything except love from his family and meaningful superpowers of his own. All he has to do in return is stay hidden away from the world and try not to be an even further embarrassment to the family name.

That all changes on the night of Morgan's 19th birthday. A chance encounter with one of the leading heroes of the city leads Morgan to receive a special serum designed for those individuals without true superpowers. In the process, he gains a brand new form: A draconic woman with abilities far in excess of his wildest dreams. Now he must navigate what it means to be a hero while keeping his female alter-ego a secret from the rest of the Axios family. The only problem is that his alter-ego forces him to confront the hardest foe imaginable: His own trauma and psyche!

i am on the last chapter of GOF and i related with Brandon in so many painful ways(not as tragic as his but still the same struggles) and in all of it i realised that every time Brandon's dad talked to him it healed a peace of me. i wish i could ve saved all his lines in a pdf so i can keep going back to them but i have one chapter left and i am not ready to reread it. (if someone can do that for me i would be grateful)

Promo Augustin Station, 1 year later

Hey everyone, I posted about my book Augustin Station here earlier this year. It’s been about a year since I released it. Since then ive sold over 5000 copies and racked up 4.4 stars based on over 400 reviews on Amazon, which is a bit crazy to think about.

I came out after being married to a woman for 12 years, and a lot of that found its way into the book. It’s fiction, but the feelings behind it are very much mine. It follows a married guy travelling alone in Romania who gets on the wrong train and ends up having to face some things he’s spent years avoiding.

Writing something so personal and putting it out into the world was scary at first. But since then, I’ve had reviews, comments and emails from readers telling me how much they related to the story. Some have shared their own experiences of coming out later in life. All of that has made me really glad I took the chance and put it out there.

Anyway, if you’re looking for a coming-out story about someone who isn’t a teenager, you might like it. And if anyone here has read it, thank you.

Promo Growing Up Gay in Communist Poland — A Personal Memoir

What was it like to grow up gay in Poland during the 1960s and 1970s, when homosexuality was rarely discussed openly?

In Diaries of a Man: My Life in Three Acts, I look back on my childhood and adolescence in Silesia, growing up in a working-class family during the communist era. My story explores family life, social expectations, religious upbringing, and the difficulty of understanding one's identity in a world where being gay was rarely accepted.

This is a personal memoir, not a work of fiction. I hope it may interest readers who enjoy LGBTQ+ memoirs, social history, and personal stories from Central and Eastern Europe.

I'm curious: Do you enjoy reading personal memoirs about LGBTQ+ life in earlier generations?

Promo Queer Cinderella retelling- r/LGBTBooks Introduction

Hi everyone! I've been writing a queer Cinderella retelling called Cinder, which is currently available for free on Wattpad.

The idea honestly just popped into my head one day. The whole business with Cinderella's transformation and the slipper struck me as very drag-coded. There's something inherently funny about a prince falling for a drag artist, only seeing them in drag, and then having to find them again based on a shoe. How exactly do you locate someone when you don't even know what they look like out of drag?

But there's also a genuine romantic question underneath the comedy: do you still love someone when they look completely different from how you first knew them?

Naturally, I decided the best way to explore this was to introduce a deeply unhelpful king, some royal family dysfunction, and a minor constitutional crisis.

It's a fairy tale. Technically.

I’m looking for something like “The girl who fell beneath the sea”, only with queer characters and a queer (mlm or wlw) romance. Does anything like that exist? I’d love some recommendations!! :)

Discussion Queer Book Subscription Kickstarter

I found out about this Kickstarter,

[🔗Queer The Shelves](https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/qts/queer-the-shelves?ref=ksr_email_mktg_auto_user_followed_project_finishing).

Two people in UK are crowd funding to build a platform which will allow reading books as a subscription service, focusing exclusively on queer works, protecting them from the politics and vagaries of mainstream digital platforms.

Campaign closing in 2 days if anyone's interested.

I'm quite excited and hope they succeed!

What do you all think?

Promo Read romantasy or smut? Share your reading experience! (18+, 10–15 minutes)

Hi everyone! I’m a graduate student at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville conducting a project for my qualitative research class about explicit romance fiction (smut).

What makes you love a story, root for a relationship, or keep turning the pages? I’d love to hear your perspective!

Readers of all types ages 18+, who have read or listened to at least one romance-fantasy story with on-page sexual content in the past year are welcome. The survey takes 10–15 minutes, and written responses can be as brief or detailed as you like.

Some participants will also have the option to volunteer for a separate, confidential follow-up interview. This is entirely optional.

Take the survey here or follow this link: https://siue.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_73uio7gK9qHPHbU

Questions? Contact [jmornin@siue.edu](mailto:jmornin@siue.edu). Thank you for sharing your reading experiences!

ISO Queer dark novella series recommendations

I'm looking for darker series recommendations (or longer standalone books, over a longer period of time). Pretty much freak4freak (asshole for asshole), they deserve each other, emotional slowburn, they can fuck or not I dont care. Would love some sapphic, trans or nb recs but everything works. No bully romances.

I love The Administration Series by Manna Francis. It has two bi male main characters. They're both assholes, calculating, on the same level, freak4freak, unhealthy but they make it work.

Also love the vibes, the humor of the Murderbot Diaries.

Discussion MM/FF Figure Skating Romance Recs!

Hi! I'm looking for either Achillean or Sapphic romances in the world of figure skating. Any spice level, but would prefer something more on the adult side. For reference, I've loved the Game Changers series by Rachel Reid so anything similar would be appreciated.

ISO Looking for Beta Readers for a YA Sapphic Contemporary Fantasy

Hey guys, I'm not sure if it's allowed but I saw another post that did it so why not. I'm looking for Beta readers for my book Marcia Skirvin's Melancholy, which is a sapphic YA tragic romance with contemporary fantasy elements set in 2008, the fabulous Y2K era lol.

The characters are all around 17, and my MC is a black girl trying to figure out her feelings for a girl.

Sara spends her summer in her dad's hometown and meets Marcia, a girl that hunts invisible monsters in exchange for a wish she previously made at a mysterious altar. Chaos ensues when monsters pop out all around the town and they have to team up to eradicate them, all the while Sara tries to figure out why Marcia seems so sad all the time and what her wish was. There's themes of self acceptance, coming-of-age and different family dynamics.

It's a bit dramatic at times and it's my first time writing romance, so bear with me lol. If anyone knows, it's inspired by Madoka Magica, but with First Nations elements.

If anyone is interested I'd love to share a sample! Thank you!

Discussion UK: where to buy queer books offline

If you’re after queer books in person in the UK, Gay's The Word on Marchmont Street (London) is still the classic indie. A few other LGBT+ indies exist around the country; stock varies, so phone ahead.

Online, Bookshop.org UK has indie storefronts (including Gay's The Word’s) if you want the purchase to support a bookshop rather than a big chain.

Happy to swap titles if people have favourites that aren’t the usual listicle picks.

Promo The Magic Boy: Between Dream and Desire

Hello everyone!

I'm an independent author, and I'd like to introduce my book, The Magic Boy: Between Dream and Desire.

I enjoy writing stories about emotions, relationships, and the journey of discovering oneself.

I'm curious about other readers' tastes: what do you enjoy most in LGBTQ+ fiction — romance, believable characters, emotional depth, or a touch of mystery?

I'd love to hear your recommendations!

Discussion Book recommendation

I just finished all of the Apothecary Diaries light novels, and I'd say all of them are about an 8 to 10 out of 10, and I need something to read next

My read list is:

Lord of Mysteries 7/10

A Light Amongst Shadows book 1 8/10

Apothecary Diaries light novel 1-16 8-10/10

So this is Ever After 4/10

Half of Song of Achilles 9/10 (haven't finished yet because I'm scared)

I'm looking for an MLM book, and while I do read a lot of manga, I'm looking for a chapter book, and I don't like books where there are like several books, and each book swaps characters' perspectives, so I'd like to avoid that

Discussion Epic queer fantasy with dragons!

As the title says looking for preferably lesbians or Trans/nonbinary queer characters wrapped in an engaging plot and characters and dragons along the way! Im not opposed to romance but preferably as the subplot.

Priory of the orange tree is already on my list but thats honestly abt it. Its hard to find an interesting sounding fantasy that isn't just revolved around a het romance.

Just looking for an interesting fantasy with a fleshed out world and characters and dragons of course :]
