Hi everyone,

I’m so sad to be making this post, my cat Cosmo has been missing since Friday Oct 23rd. He is an indoor/outdoor cat and does sometimes go on benders for a few days then shows up, however, it is now day 4 and he hasn’t show back up.

Last seen Ambleside Crescent (Bayridge area) Friday night. Male, neutered, and microchipped with all the necessary updated information. He is about 5 years old.

He can be shy around strangers and will hide if he feels unsafe. If anyone’s seen anything, please dm me. I have posted on FB as well, thank you!

Appreciation Congratulations to Kingston‘s third female mayor ever

I’m so excited to hear that Connie Glenn beat the pants off of Brian Patterson. It fills me with the light to know that the third day cultist conversion therapy loving individual is no longer the top guy in our city. I’m also excited to discover that Connie is our third female mayor. The last time we had a woman in this office was Isabel Turner. Before that it was Helen Cooper and she was all the way back in the 80s.

Also, congratulations to ABBA Morley for beating the pants off of Gregory Ridge. He was a nice guy and he seemed to genuinely care about his constituents. I had a few issues that he helped me out with over the last few years. But honestly, ABBA looks amazing and I’m so excited to see what she brings to the table. Congratulations ladies. You are powerful and strong and I cannot wait to see the direction the city will take under your leadership.

Appreciation Aba's response time

I live in the Kings Town district and we elected Aba as our councilor yesterday.

I figured I'd email her to congratulate her and throw in a recommendation/request I had.

She emailed back within 1 minute.

I know that's not something to get used to.. but holy crap.

Discussion Returning in 2030?

If I had to guess, I’d say:

Likely
Vanessa Mensah (as councillor)
Michael Judd (especially if Tozzo runs for mayor)
Zachary Typhair (a new perennial candidate)
Stephen Cuthbertson (council)

Maybe
Jeff Pearce
Daria Juudi-Hope (unless she focuses on NDP)
Chris Logstrup (as councillor)
Tom Gingrich (if Tozzo runs for mayor)
Joel Anthony Bruce (if Osanic retires)
Matt McTaggart (if Boehme runs for mayor)

Probably not:
Grant Bedard
Bryan Paterson
Joseph Abreu
Jeff Scott
Dorian Hartley
Charanjeev Sekhon
Prakash Dayal
Kevin Smith
Roger Dennis
Andrew DaCosta
Rajesh Kumar
John Meligrana
Melissa Reid
Greg Ridge
Chelsea Rae

From 2022, we might also see Jacqui Collier and Skyler McArthur-O’Blenes come back. Maybe Rob Matheson if Hassan runs for Mayor.

Recommendation Needed Need a Pfizer Shot

Hello good people of Kingston Reddit,

I am desperately seeking a non-Moderna vaccine for an 87 year old relative who is fragile and cannot tolerate Moderna. We have been to the family doctor. We have been to the public health unit. We have asked her regular pharmacy to order her a Pfizer shot. I have asked a random pharmacist to order one. I have called most pharmacies listed on the government website as being in Kingston and having Covid vaccines. Another family member is trying to find one in Ottawa.

If anyone on here has any leads on where to get a Pfizer (or any non-Moderna) vaccine I cannot tell you how much I would appreciate you sharing the information.

Thank you

Recommendation Needed Looking for a lawyer in Kingston – Urgent vehicle lease contract issue

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for recommendations for a lawyer in Kingston who handles contract disputes or consumer protection issues, specifically involving a vehicle lease agreement.

I've been trying to contact a few lawyers over the past several days, but unfortunately, I haven't had much luck getting a response.

I've also reached out to Cunningham Swan Carty Little multiple times. Each time, I've been told to call, but when I do, I end up leaving a voicemail and never receive a call back.

My situation is somewhat time-sensitive, and I really need legal advice as soon as possible.

Does anyone know a lawyer or law firm in Kingston (or elsewhere in Ontario) who might be available for a consultation on short notice? I'm happy to pay for a consultation.

I'd really appreciate any recommendations or suggestions. Thanks so much!

Rant Enercare rental water heater leaked, damaged my home, and now they want $2,000+ to let me out of the contract. Any advice? (Ontario)

I’m in Kingston, Ontario, and wondering whether anyone has dealt with a similar situation with Enercare or has advice about my rights as a consumer.
Here’s what happened:
Saturday, October 24: I discovered that my rented Rinnai tankless water heater was leaking. Water had accumulated in the utility closet and spread into an adjoining bedroom, soaking part of the carpet. I called Enercare’s emergency service line, but was told nobody could come until Monday afternoon. I spent the weekend trying to contain the leak and prevent further damage.
Monday, October 26: An Enercare technician finally arrived. He said he would have preferred to replace the unit, but his manager had instructed him to repair it instead. He shut off the hot-water supply and ordered a replacement part.
Repair timeline: The technician said the part might arrive Thursday, but there was no confirmed repair date. When I called customer service, I was told restoring hot water could take anywhere from five days to two business weeks.
No functioning showers: Since the technician shut off the hot water, neither of our two showers works at all—not even on the cold setting. Cold water still runs from the sinks, so my elderly mother and I are reduced to washing at the sink.
Cancellation: I asked Enercare to release me from the rental agreement so I could purchase my own water heater and arrange installation. The representative told me I would have to pay over $2,000 to cancel or buy out the broken equipment.
I’m paying approximately $58 per month for the rental, for over four years, which includes repairs and maintenance. The equipment has now caused property damage, and we’re facing potentially weeks without hot water or functioning showers. I’ve also had to take time off work to deal with the situation.
I’ve spent hours dealing with customer service, including lengthy holds, and have been unable to get a clear resolution or speak to someone with authority to make a decision.

Has anyone successfully gotten out of an Enercare water-heater rental agreement without paying a buyout when the equipment failed?
Does anyone know whether Enercare has contractual obligations to restore hot water within a reasonable period, particularly when its equipment has caused property damage?
Has anyone successfully obtained compensation from Enercare for water damage or expenses incurred because of delayed service?
Is Consumer Protection Ontario the right avenue, or should I be considering Small Claims Court or another form of legal action?
Does anyone know whether a plumber can safely restore cold-water flow to single-handle showers while keeping the leaking heater isolated?
I’m particularly interested in hearing from people in Ontario who’ve dealt with Enercare, rental water-heater contracts, or similar consumer disputes.
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.
