Looking for a moderator(s) to join

Hello all,
I'm looking for an additional moderator or few to join the team so I can get better coverage for this subreddit and probably, eventually, transition away from moderating. Please post here to say if you are interested and I will review your post history and online personality to see if you'd be a good fit and will reach out directly to you.

Thanks!

Having a hard time finding friends

Are there any board game groups maybe?

A bit about me. I’m 52 but generally get along better with people younger than me. Probably because I’m single without kids etc.

I’m also on the spectrum (self diagnosed). So I have a lot of social anxiety and awkwardness. I’m best one on one. But I do love playing board games and card games so small groups would be fun especially once I know the people.

I love just walking and talking. Movies. Anything where I can be creative etc. I like to cook and sing. Going to plays.

Most of my current friends are either out of state high school friends. Or live far enough away and work schedules never work out so I don’t get a chance to hang out often.

As for work, my day job is as a brand ambassador passing out samples at grocery stores and my night job is as a casino dealer for table games at party events.

While still socially awkward at those, I’m better in work environments versus social ones.

Any advice is appreciated.

Best neighborhoods for trick-or-treating in Cobb County? 🎃

I’m looking for recommendations for the best neighborhoods to take my 2-year-old son trick-or-treating this Halloween. What are some good neighborhoods in Cobb County, especially Marietta, East Cobb, or Kennesaw, that go all out for Halloween and welcome trick-or-treaters who don’t live in the neighborhood? Looking for somewhere festive with lots of decorated houses and a good Halloween atmosphere. Any recommendations are appreciated! 🎃

Any mechanics (shop or mobile) who can change my brakes + rotors for a reasonable price?

Chain mechanic shop quoted me $599 to change just my front brakes and rotors. Money is pretty tight right now so I want to compare/contrast and hear recommendations before I bite the bullet. I’m willing to travel outside of Kennesaw as well

Looking to Relet SOVA Apartment

I’m looking to relet my apartment to someone else, rent is $1285/month; but there is a pool, Town Center at Cobb’s right around the corner, the noonday creek trail is right there, and KSU is a 6 minute drive away. I’m planning to relet the apartment after the semester is over, so late December-early January. If you’re interested or have questions DM me.

Come to my book launch event at The Brown Dog Bookshop!

Post image

Hello, it's your friendly neighborhood local author requesting your support! My second book Just Like a Dream comes out on November 3 (bad timing I know, publisher's choice), and I'm having a launch party on November 4 at The Brown Dog Bookshop.

There will be milk and cookies! Pajamas are welcome but not required.

I'm relatively new to Kennesaw (moved here when I married a long-time Kennesaw resident), so I don't have a lot of friends here yet, and I'd love if the event had at least a small attendance from folks who might like books. Or cookies. I am excited to have an event at The Brown Dog because I really want to support our local businesses! Thank you for considering it!

Let me know if you have ideas for where else I should post this info besides my social media accounts!

RSVP here so the bookstore knows how many to expect: https://withfriends.co/event/31196552/book_launch_pajama_party_with_lauren_evans

(Side note: I'm on this sub a lot on my personal reddit account, and I appreciate all of you! This is where my husband and I get most of our neighborhood news.)

(If you don't want to come, that's fine, please don't be mean to me)

Pls recommend groomers who can trim the nails of fear aggressive dogs!!

I live behind the Town Center Costco but I can travel around 15 minutes.

My dog is a 12 year-old 7.5 lbs rescue and hates having her paws handled. She has an old break in her right foreleg that was never set so that is also a cause of discomfort. She's gotten a lot better about giving warnings before snapping but she is still hard to handle for trims. Her outer nails curl in due to her limp which gets tricky.

She doesn't need a mini/full groom, just a nail trim. Please recommend your groomers who are good with anxious pets. Ty!!

Early Voting ends Friday.

I took a look at the unofficial turnout page and it looks like more people age 18-24 turned out than people in their late 20s and 30s so far.

More than 1.7 million people voted already, for a total turnout of more than 23% of the registered voters statewide.

Cobb County has above average turnout, at 28.28% turnout. With 148,000 votes out of 525,000 registered voters.

Towns County had a 38% turnout, which is crazy.

Learned the hard way

Soo I've made a few posts about being on the spectrum, and looking for things to do. I'm 32, male and white. Blue eyed blonde to be specific. There are some older women (older than I am, at least) that seem to be attracted to this. I'm not sure if it's because they think I'm a virgin? I'm not sure. But I've had 6 of them asking to "thrill chill" and I don't even know what that means lol. Took me a minute to put that together. Finding women my own age is hard as hell. I even own a business and am successful. Most just want dick pics. Then if you send them dick pics they seem to get clingy like IMMEDIATELY and go straight to "let's meet up". Like I have to explain that I'm on the spectrum and don't like being touched all the time and they don't care 😂 Where is this coming from? Why can't I find a woman my age that wants to hang out first? Or if they want to hook up, why is it so hard to just be blunt and direct to where I can understand it? Is it like against the rules for women to be straightforward about that? What the hell is happening to Kennesaw?!

Hello everyone,

I am an incoming student at Kennesaw State University’s Marietta campus. I will be moving in January 2027, and I am looking for a complete 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartment with a budget of $800 per month, excluding utilities.

If anyone knows of an available apartment within this budget, preferably near the Marietta campus, I would really appreciate your recommendations or leads.

Thank you!

Any place good hiring???

I have experience in retail and food but I don’t really wanna work in food unless it’s good pay. (Not a cook) I’m tired of being paid low ($8/hr) when I used to be paid way more ($14-16/hr)… also tired of ghosted interviews having my time wasted..

So I went to a City Council Meeting and the kid had some cool shades.

Councilman Jones brought his kid. Which was convenient, as the Woodland Park Guy brought gifts that were custom made coloring books and crayons detailing their struggle with the city. The younger Jones did have some pretty cool shades.

The only proper business this meeting was the road closures for the Taste of Kennesaw. The Taste of Kennesaw is set for November 7th, and so the core of the city including Main Street, Watts to Little General Cloggers, J O Stephenson to Little General Cloggers, and the railroad crossing at Cherokee are all closed from that Friday to about midnight on Saturday.

The Chief of Police didn't do the Crime Stats as he was acting interim associate assistant city manager. But, generally speaking for the first nine months of 2026 crime is running hotter than 2025 did. 1,064 crimes to 993. But traffic citations were down and arrests were up, which is nice.

History Kid went up to speak, talking about someone who is buried in the cemetery for spooky month. This time is Joanna Roberts, whose father moved the family from the Carolinas to be the first Governor of the Nebraska Territory. He didn't last very long, catching a bad case of death shortly after taking up the post. So, Joanna didn't stick around. At some point she moved to Kennesaw, and married here. She died on the family farm in 1914, which coincidentally became Kennesaw State University half a century later. You can go see her grave on the Life at the Cemetery tours that there still are (a few) tickets left for.

One of the local grandmothers wanted to remind everyone to vote, but also she is concerned about all these E-bikes. They go much too fast and she almost hit a little boy a couple months back. Furthermore, she heard that last Monday a kid actually got hit at 41 and Jiles. There has to be something that the city can do to keep stuff like that from happening.

The Woodland Park guy brought gifts and a sharp tongue. He said that he asked the head of parks and the former city manager about things many times and didn't get any straight answers. They said it wasn't in the budget and it wasn't possible to get things installed, but now the signs that were supposed to be at the park were installed just this past week. So was it in the budget? Did they lie about it being budgeted? Or was work done without it being in the budget with that money coming from somewhere? That seems incompetent to him. Also, he is pretty sure that the neighbors who are against the revitalization of the park dumped a bunch of trash in the creek is just signed up to clean up through the "Adopt a Creek" program, and that's gross and spiteful. He was also confused as to why it cost him $750 to get the mayor's hand-written notes from previous meetings and $150 for an E-Mail saying communications were unavailable due to "attorney-client privilege". Why is communication so expensive?

Mr. Mayo wanted to thank the council for the installation of the signs for the park. It was a step in the right direction, but he can't help but feel that the rules are being applied selectively and inconsistently. Communication feel like pull of teeth and nothing happens for a long time and then everything happens without so much as a heads up. He blames the mayor for the problems communicating and the slow rolling of everything.

The Chief of Police wearing the had of the temporary interim assistant junior City Manager had a turn. He appreciated the multi-disciplinary work done to make Pigs and Peaches and success. There seems to be many fewer complaints about organization this year, and there were no incidents to speak of.

This one was a short one. A very short meeting. So short that some college students turned up to complain about a pothole as the meeting ended. Unfortunate. What as more unfortunate was that the pothole they were complaining about was in unincorporated cobb to boot. I pointed them to the county's SeeClickFix and hope that is a good enough start.
