Text Thoughts about what might be real (except pain)
Meaning, is the second thing that is absolutely real. The first thing is pain. (Jordan B Peterson)
You can’t argue your way out of either of them.
Even if you are a depressed, nihilistic shell of a human being, with a terrible upbringing, you wont escape the inevitable conclusion that even if you FEEL that nothing has any mening, you have already inscribed a meaning to your meaningless existence by deeming it not meaningful.
That in of itself holds a meaning regardless of your opinion of it. So you can’t win over it.
Pain will always come first, it will be the first you notice. And meaning will inevitably come second. That is suffering, thus meaning and suffering are the same thing. The human will ALWAYS contribute meaning to his pain. Most of the time the meaning will ADD to the pain and that is what we call suffering. We contribute extra to the pain by saying; ”Why me?”
Thus the terrible faith of existence is not only that you exist, but rather that no matter what you do, everything WILL have meaning regardless if you wish it to be such or not. Your nihalistic defiance of existence will hold no sway over the fact that whatever you do, it WILL hold intrinsic value. It will be so no matter how deep your defiance to it may be and how cruel and nihilistic you choose or wish to be.
But then you might say, ok i surrender, "it" has meaning. But that meaning has no ”meaning” to ME and i don’t care. It doesn’t hold any weight. It doesn’t matter. The meaning itself doesn’t matter to me. I don’t care that it means something. Perhaps i loathe that it means something at all? Why SHOULD it mean something in the first place?
Then what do you do?
Well it doesn’t matter does it? The meaning was still there regardless of what you think of it!
You might be ambivalent of it, and you might do whatever it is that you do, but the meaning is still there, is it not? The fact that YOU feel that your life had no meaning does not absolve you from the fact that YOU have existed in this realm and held sway over reality in whatever way you did when you were here.
That was real, and it held MEANING regardless of your feelings of it.
Thus meaning, is inescapable and just as real as pain. Perhaps even more real than pain, because pain is something with no value of itself, it just is. But the meaning we put on top of the pain is more real than the pain itself.

Political Iran hosts Saudi Arabia and regional powers as fears grow of return to war
The amount of time we have left to avoid a return to full blown war is limited. But why isn’t this intervention taking place in the US? The US started the war on Feb 28 by attacking Iran.

Discussion Will Jordan Peterson speak out about Trump’s proposed ban on the term ‘AI’
Do you think Jordan Peterson will comment on Trump saying he wants to ban the term ‘AI’ and replace it with ‘Super Intelligence’?
Peterson rose to prominence opposing what he described as compelled speech around pronouns. Given that his argument was about the government telling people which words to use, I’d be interested to hear his take on this. Does the same principle apply here?
