Community Update r/Jetta Community Rules and Guidelines

Hey everyone,

We've had an influx recently of multiple r/Jetta members who aren't paying attention to the rules we've got here and are causing arguments, fighting, insulting, name calling, and other nuisances that nobody here wants to see, read, or deal with. This is a community to show off our love for Jetta's, and to assist others and help them with their questions, or to just show off and talk about our cars, suggest recommendations for mods, tweaks, parts, and anything else that has to do with Jetta's. It is not the community for anything that cannot be civil.

I didn't want to make a reminder post like this, but it needs to be said.

Please report any comments/posts that break rules so that they can be handled by the mod team.

Please read and follow the rules and help make this community more fun and not like all the other nuisance subs that allow bickering and childish, immature behavior.

Thanks!

r/Jetta Community Rules

1 - Reddiquette/Be Civil

All posts and comments must abide by standard Reddiquette. Failing to do so may result in a permanent ban, with or without a warning.

No harassment, bigotry, spamming, trolling or otherwise hateful posts or comments will be tolerated. This may result in a permanent ban, as this is a friendly community.

We support a safe community. Posting pictures or videos of you or someone else failing to follow safety rules while operating a vehicle is not allowed. These posts will be removed.

3 - No Politics

No discussion or expression of political beliefs. This includes but is not limited to: advocating bringing harm to law enforcement, overthrowing the US government, support for or against a political candidate, or boycotts of companies based on their political alignment.

4 - Stay on Topic

This is a community for the Volkswagen Jetta. All posts and comments should be related to Volkswagen and the Jetta vehicle. Off topic posts/comments will be removed.

5 - No AI

This sub does not allow any AI pictures or videos.

6 - Do Not Message Mods Via PM/Chat

Messaging mods via their private message/chat rather than mod mail will result in a ban and your messages ignored.

Mk7 (2019+) My Jetta might not be making it home :(

Was going home after picking up my gf and room mates when someone decided to run a red light. Just signed some papers at the repair shop and gonna wait to hear from them if it's totaled or not

Edit:: yes my reaction was very over the top lol, but it's cause I was really worried about everyone especially my gf and my car. I really love my car as it's my first "I truly own this car and its mine"

On top of that I really wanted to get out of the car because the other car that was hit started smoking so I wanted everyone to get out so we could check on each other. My door was blocked by the other car and I couldn't get so it scared me a lot and I gave a but of some anxiety issues and this obviously didn't help. We were all okay as well thankfully, and all of us in the car made sure no one was hurt then got everyone else out of their cars as well. I wasn't being inconciderate toy passengers just trying to make sure we were all safe outside the car

I am having the hardest time figuring out what this bulb is called in my 2015 Jetta.

The dashboard light keeps coming on and I have taken off both rubber gaskets but it seems as if this bulb cannot be accessed.

Any ideas or suggestion?

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2014 VW Jetta Dashboard Computer Issue

I have a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta that has not given me too much trouble, but recently developed an issue that prevents it from starting. My mechanic looked at it and thought that it might be the sensor that regulates how the engine is cooled. (forgive me if I am not explaining it correctly I am not a car expert)

Currently my dashboard is all lit up. My speedometer doesn’t work and my brake light engine light are constantly on, and the gas gauge goes from what it actually has in the tank to empty and fluctuates back-and-forth. I keep the car maintained and it is not neglected in the slightest.

Mechanically, the only thing that I’ve had done is the air-conditioning compressor and the line that feeds into it that was replaced.

My mechanic is not able to address the dashboard computer issue and suggested the only way to get it resolved it to take it to the dealership due to it being computer/dash issue, however I am concerned that the cost to repair it will be excessive and I’m concerned that there will be more issues that come up with the vehicle after this repair.

I’m curious if anyone has experienced this with Volkswagen before and if my inclination towards seeking out to replace my vehicle, makes sense considering how much the repair on the Volkswagen might cost.

Also, I don’t know whether or not I’d be able to trade this car in because it doesn’t start. It tries to and sounds like it’s gonna but it doesn’t. Other than that, It has run beautifully with no issues, no noises, no problems at all.

Mk6 (2011-2018) Radio not turning on? Please help!

Hi everyone it’s my first post here and I just need some answers or advice on what to do? To explain my situation quickly, my car radio isn’t turning on? I have a 2014 Jetta se and I took it to the mechanic for a tune up? I was having a misfire and a transmission leak since the pan was damaged. Anyways on my way there my radio worked fine. I was even using it to listen to my music and pray the repair cost won’t kill me 😭 anyways It’s a aftermarket eBay one with CarPlay and I’ve had it for a little over two years now.

Anyways, after two or so days at the shop and getting my car back it won’t turn on like it use too when I would start my car? I found it odd and question whether some cord or electrical wire was damaged or moved? My dad said that the mechanic didn’t touch anything with the stereo? But it just doesn’t make sense on why it would stop working? I did some digging and removed my stereo and noticed the acc wire was unplugged. So I plugged it in and it brought my radio to life. The issue now is that it won’t turn off? Even when the car is off and keys off the ignition? I can’t leave it like that cuz of course it will drain my battery. I’m just curious if anyone has gone through the same or something similar and were able to fix it? The stereo works when I had it plugged in and on. I don’t feel like spending $200+ for new stereo since I already spent my life and soul to fix the misfire and transmission oil leak? Please and thankyou!

P.S I’ll leave photos of what I took and noticed not sure if that might help?

Mk7 (2019+) Need Experts Advice for Fluid Changes!

Needs experts advice!

My jetta is reaching 90k milage, should I have diffential fluid, break fluid changed at a local workshops, such as Pepboys or others, or at the VW dealer. As I do not have the experience or the tools to change such fluids. So do not want to risk of breaking anything.

Also what other maintenance should I also perform. I had the tires, battery and break-pads changed recently.

Tried jumping it, tried charging battery, tested the circuits. We got a immobilizer code B104C29 the cluster will turn on but only shows odometer and gas meter but won’t show how much gas so we can tell if it needs gas though it wasn’t empty when it broke down

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2017 Jetta se ecm light

I have a Jetta se it drives perfectly fine but after driving for 10-15 minutes my ecm light and engine light come on. I have codes P0697 P0343 P0341 P0299. I’ve replaced both my camshaft sensors I’ve checked my map sensor and my VVT solenoid. My oil is fine and I don’t hear any strange sounds while driving or starting my car. I just finished a 10 hour car ride last week and only had one instance where I was driving and pressing heavily on the pedal but I was not going above 40 mph. That lasted for about 25 minutes and I turned my car off and waited about 10 minutes and I was fine.

The very first time this happend the ecm light came on and then about an hour later ok the highway I was no longer able to excelarate for around 15 seconds. My engine light came on and I pulled over on the side of the road but after I parked my car it was fine but the lights stayed on.

I plan on driving 15 hours next month so I’d like to try to fix it before I go if anybody knows anything about this issue and could help it would be much appreciated

Mk6 (2011-2018) Segítség hátha valaki találkozott-e mar ilyennel

Sziasztok!

Egy kis segítségre lenne szükségem. Adott egy 2012-es Volkswagen Jetta 2.0 CR TDI.

A probléma a következő:

Amikor kevés az üzemanyag az autóban (negyed tank környékén vagy alatta), a kocsi menet közben elkezd rángatni, dadogni, majd teljesen leáll.

A legfontosabb infó:

Mk7 (2019+) Keyless access problem

I have a 2025 Jetta (literally just one year since I bought it).

Lately, I’ve been having issues with the keyless entry on the door. On average, I have to try around 5 times before it unlocks.

I took it to the dealership, and they told me to replace the key fob battery, but that didn’t fix the problem.

It seems strange to me since the car is practically new. Has anyone else experienced something similar? How did you solved it?

Mk6 (2011-2018) 2014 Jetta vibration/shake help!

2014 VW Jetta 1.8 TSI (220,000 km). Intermittent rumbling/vibration felt through the floor under acceleration, especially uphill or through left curves. Seems to stop when I release the gas or steer to the right. Also occasional popping when accelerating through sharp left turns. No change after switching to winter wheels/tires. CV boots seem good and not much play in CV. Doesn’t happen at all when revving in neutral.

Abs,traction control, tire pressure, airbag light, steering assist light came on , need help please! Scanned abs module and left rear abs sensor wasn’t reading so I replaced it and still didn’t fix my problem. Now it says “Electrical Malfunction In Circuit”. My next guess would be bad magnetic ring on wheel bearing or frayed wire. I just don’t know how to test for volt or whatever for the electrical side of things

Mk2 (1985-1992) The end of the quest,!

Post image
53 Upvotes

Holy smokes you guys. I had no idea how thin on the ground Mk2 spares were until I needed to replace the back glass in my car. My rear window got knocked out in a hail storm and I thought it wouldn't be no big deal to rat up a replacement. The one locally available window broke while being pulled.

I ended up having to make a trip from Kansas City to Oklahoma City to pick up the back glass now installed in my 1991 Jetta coupé.

Until I can get a carport built for this car, I'm going to invest in one of those Sealskin covers I keep seeing so many ads for. Supposedly they're pretty good against hail damage.

Also I like taking rear 3/4 shots of my car that makes it look like it has a big "butt". LOL!
