Personal Hypothesizes/Theories/Hottakes
So I don't know if there already has been a post like this butI thought it might be fun for people to share personal hypothesizes or theories (or even hottakes if you want to be spicy). I think it should be a more a casual thing were we can share possibly new interesting ways to look at the whitechapel murders. Not some super sourced academic theory. (And yes I realize that this will probably lead some absolute lunatic suggesting that the easter bunny was jack the ripper.)
Okay so here are my hypothesizes/hottakes:
1: The fact that Mary Kelly was killed indoors is not that big of a deal. If we look how the ripper approached and got his victims into secluded areas I think that is not unreasonable to think that the ripper approached Kelly in the streets and solicited her with the intention to kill her in a courtyard or alleyway but it was Kelly herself that suggested using her apartment which presented the opportunity to him.
2: Sir Melville Mcnaghten didn't rely on information from druitt's close family when he wrote the memorandum. My main reason for thinking this is that in the memorandum Mcnaghten get the age and occupation of Druitt very wrong. I just don't think a close family member being the source would be that wrong about those things. I have seen it suggested by some that Mcnaghten was trying to protect Druitt but like no? He is claiming him to be a serial killer so there would be no reason to lie to protect druitt. Instead I think that since Melville moved in upper class circles and the druitt family also moved in upper-middle class/ upperclass circles that Melville was relying on second hand information/rumors
3: Here is the last one and this is definitely more of a hot take. Based on available information. Aaron Kosminski is not a great fit for Anderson´s suspect/ Mcnaghten's kosminski and is a weaker suspect than he is sometimes presented as. My issue with the kosminski suspect and aaron is that there is to many inconsistencies to confirm Aaron as a definitive candidate. They get some things right absolutely like jewish identity, polish origin, mental illness incarceration. But they get incarceration date wrong, date of death wrong, mcnaghten claims that he has murderous impulses and hatred of women which hasn't been successfully tied to Aaron. Based on that I don't think we can say that Aaron is the police suspect "kosminski" with any degree of certainty. I think he is the best candidate but it's not a shut case. Also I think a real problem that is not talked enough about it that most of what information we have about "kosminski" as a suspect is an autobiography, a police memo and personal notations of a copy of the autobiography. We don't have any surviving police reports or documentation. Do I believe that it existed? Yes absolutely but unfortunately we don't have that so we can't really verify anything that Anderson/Swanson or Mcnaghten claimed in their writing. We also know that people like abberline or reid didn't believe in the kosminski-theory which makes it seem less certain than was Anderson claims when he says it's an absolute fact that his suspect was the ripper. Do I believe "Kosminski" is a bad suspect? No he is potentially a very interesting suspect but less strong that people sometimes suggest.
So this was my incoherent rambling. So If someone has thoughts or their own hypothesis/thoughts about the case feel free to share because I would love to expand my perspective on the case (I mainly just need friends).
Finally I think the Eastern bunny might have...........ohhh.....ohhh no.
