And I have to say, out of all the anime live-action adaptations out there, this is the ONLY one I'm genuinely excited about! 😂🔥 From what we've seen so far, it looks like they've done an absolutely amazing job bringing the manga to life! I seriously can't wait to watch it! 😍

Saw the trailer today for Sukiyaki. Theatrical release opens on Christmas Day in Japan. I hope it also gets a US release. Kyo Sakamoto’s song “Sukiyaki” was a hit in the US in 1963. This film looks beautiful.

Episode 2 of LOST10 got me hooked! 😭 Tabata’s ending was so unexpected, and I honestly didn’t see that coming.

Is Aya really guilty, or is someone framing her? The insurance angle also feels like it’s hiding something bigger, and I’m not ready to trust anyone just yet. 👀

I’m especially curious about Tabata’s role in all of this. Was she involved in the scheme, a victim of it, or both? Two episodes in, and I already have so many questions. This mystery is getting interesting!

Normally I watch a lot of Taiga dramas but this one was refreshing for me. Dramas I've watched:

Kisarazu cat's eye, Tiger and Dragon, IGWP, What will you do, Ieyasu?, Smoking (2018), Nanba MG5, Shinsengumi!, Vivant, Ouroboros , Sanctuary, Giri / Haji (not sure if this one counts), Extremely Inappropriate, The hot spot, Sins of Kujo, The Black Swindler (2022)

This is more of how the TV series Orange Days hooked me in. It is an appreciation post of how good the pilot episode was done. Having no idea what the episode's title or its description is, I gave it a watch.

From the opening scenes up to this particular event, the episode described all the main characters. But the setup of Sae's and Kai's afternoon and evening at the carnival did not prepare me for this. It was such a great way to capture the scene -- him asleep under an umbrella, light focused on umbrella protecting the bike's saddle, and her coming back carrying her own umbrella.

It further both their characters, while providing a cliffhanger too. I ended up finishing the series.

I read Dear Sa-chan as a story about how you can lose someone you genuinely love because you fail to value the relationship while you still have it.

Regret doesn't automatically make you a better person, and missing someone doesn't mean you've learned how to love them properly.

Did you find Kyosuke's ending tragic because he lost Sa-chan, or disturbing because he seemed ready to replace her with someone who looked like her?

I loved Sanctuary and I really think Ichinose Wataru was great. He’s hilarious outside of the role as well, I don’t know how many variety shows I’ve watched of him he’s kinda weird and silly yet lovable at the same time. Maybe kinda like his character in the show. Can’t wait!

So... Does anyone remember the 2024 Taiga Drama "Dear Hikaru" (光る君へ)? It was a series of episodes produced by NHK Taiga and was the 63rd edition. The drama followed Murasaki Shikibu's (The exceptional woman who penned "The Tale of Genji") and her life in the Imperial court and her deep endearing bond with Fujiwara no Michinaga. (If I remember correctly)
I swear Sei Shonagon was in there too, but I never watched it so I don't know. I have looked EVERYWHERE and I cannot find this damn show.

I understand that it was an annually produced show and was mainly restricted to Japan, but was later reproduced on Apple TV (Which, I am not paying for since I'm broke) but not Netflix or any other major streaming platform that I know of.

I just finished this over the weekend! It was absolutely endearing, funny and touching at the same time. The cast was charming, the acting was great as expected but my favourite thing was the clever editing. Please give it a go if you are still on the fence.
