It’s your money? How did they get their hands on your money? They certainly don’t have any of mine.

u/742963 Jul 12 '26
Yeah I won't be going anywhere that have these, they I'm going to the beach and stare at this bs, no chance!
That's so messed up

u/Kelef50 Jul 12 '26
The sign on the boat claims that the sun is up. But I can't see the sun.... It's obscured by the boat.
1
u/unsolvedfanatic Jul 13 '26
It's literally High Noon though, and the company is called High Noon so I guess that's why they chose that time to bring out the boat.

u/green_gold_purple Jul 12 '26
What the fuck. This is becoming one of those future parodies of advertising.
2
u/No_Championship_6403 Jul 12 '26
Wow... Probably better than plane ads.... But man that will be annoying if it becomes more common.
1
u/reychango Jul 13 '26
Definitely better than those planes. These boats don't seem to have caught on yet despite being around for a while. I've seen them at the Jersey shore for around 10 years now and I only ever see one in a four hour span. The planes are non-stop and loud.

Honestly, given billboard trucks and air banners, surprised it took this long. Sigh. r/latestagecapitalism

u/kill_order Jul 12 '26
I wonder how waterproof those screens are. Also the boat looks pretty shallow, how many people hanging off one side could it take?
1
u/WeeklyBanEvasion Jul 12 '26
I mean it's a boat so, several hundred? Also they would just drive away if anyone came near.

This is Miami
1
u/dochoiday Jul 12 '26
Miami sucks for a wide variety of reasons, this is probably one of the smallest.
1
u/Life_Temperature795 Jul 12 '26
If I owned shorefront property in Miami I would be tripping over myself to get floating billboards banned. It's bad for real estate value, it's going to deter tourism... like the whole reason to go to the beach is because the ocean is there; if you block up views of the ocean, why would people want to go there?
1
u/Nicodemus888 Jul 12 '26
Wait what
I thought this was happening in backwards third world shitholes

They've been here for years now but they are slowly gaining traction elsewhere as well now, sure I've seen them in Asia somewhere like
SingaporeEdit: Mumbai has them
1
u/BreadxToaster Jul 13 '26
Add NJ to that list. I live next to AC and it’s started over here now too. Seen it a few times but now I’m seeing it every day. Worst part is they drive far enough out that you actually can’t see anything on the screen so it’s even worse than the planes.

Ban this crap. The city needs a new law apparently.

Desantis doing something that benefits the citizens? No way in hell.

That is ridiculous. As if we need another reminder that High Noon exists.

u/citizensyn Jul 12 '26
New UN charter: international waters do not allow advertising to the shore
US: veto
Wake me up as soon as it happens because I'm calling it now
2
u/WeeklyBanEvasion Jul 12 '26
These are not in international waters, they're about 200 miles too close to the shore.
1
u/citizensyn Jul 12 '26
No but also no international is only 12miles from shore. This is roughly 1 mile out. But when this starts to get banned companies will find a way to make absolutely massive ads exactly 12m out that circumvent
1
u/Mastermind7051 Jul 12 '26
Nobody but filthy people think this is a good idea. I would hate to have this type of people in my line of sight.
1
u/Oddant1 Jul 12 '26
Sink it. At some point people need to actually put their money where their mouth is. Unfortunately we tend to not do that until it's already past the point of no return.

Drinking in the hot sun is the least appealing thing to me and has never been something I've understood
1
u/TheVoicesOfBrian Jul 12 '26
It'd be a shame if a speedboat accidentally splashed saltwater all over those expensive electronics.
1
u/RustyShacklefrog Jul 12 '26
Sorry, but you need to subscribe to the OceanView+ premium package if you want to skip ads.
1
u/Accurate_Mobile9005 Jul 12 '26
Republicans are fine with these but god forbid a windfarm a mile off the shore "ruin the view".
1
u/Hairy_Wall_6831 Jul 12 '26
Billboards suck anywhere and everywhere.
The only people that like billboards are the assholes that get paid to ruin everyone's view.

1
u/007-JamesBlonde Jul 12 '26
Easy fix, boycott whatever company uses that for advertising. They’ll stop paying for it when they realize it’s having the adverse affect…

u/Ebenizer_Splooge Jul 12 '26
Just another way we get advertisement shoved down our throats at any opportunity. More ads, longer ads, put ads in a place you shouldn't see anything but a horizon. I havent used the fm in my car in a while, turn on a local radio station, hey guess what they figured out my car displays the song information so let's just make that an ad on your fuckin dashboard. Im so over it lol

I'm glad my state passed a law that said they couldn't have these rolling advertisement vans rolling around the city because they were a distraction to drivers causing an increase in accidents.

1
u/ukuleles1337 Jul 13 '26
Man, growing up vacationing in ocean city, NJ they had planes that flew down the beach area with a long advertisement banner that flew behind it. It was iconic, and cool to watch fly by as a kid. I'll never forget it.
This looks horrible.
1
u/TurnoverIcy1998 Jul 13 '26
just pay an extra 10$ at admission and you get the ad free tier of the beach.
1
u/UpAllNightCoding Jul 13 '26
I can’t remember a single time I’ve ever seen an ad and thought to myself “I’m gonna go buy that.”
NOT ONCE. I have however on MANY occasions seen an ad when I REALLY didn’t want to and thought to myself “I’m never buying your product now.”

As someone who lives in a landlocked state, and hasn't seen the ocean in 12 years, seeing this also made me, as this subreddit goes, infuriated.
1
u/Flabby-AP Jul 13 '26
In completely unrelated news, underwater cutting torches and scuba gear are a thing.
1
u/Crafty-Health-4046 Jul 13 '26
I wonder if one of those universal remotes key chains would work on this
1
u/SunsetCarcass Jul 13 '26
No don't you see, off shore wind turbines in more remote areas would be an eyesore. But ads in populated tourist spots isn't an eyesore because the government make money on the side.

The advertising social contract used to make sense. For TV and Radio the audience agreed to be exposed to a limited number of adds in return for being entertained. Billboards of any sort in any location are just noise. They return nothing to the audience and provide no services in return for exposure to adds. They should be illegal.

Advertising has become such an issue that it often makes me visibly angry.
There's not one fucking reason I should have to look at your bullshit advertisements while relaxing on the beach. Absolutely nothing is sacred to these corporate shitmongers any more.

u/Danimaldodo Jul 12 '26
Ive not seen one of these but that is pretty ridiculous. Someone's time and boat fuel is paid for for the sole purpose of ruining a view of the water with an advertisement. I assume that that's the boat's only purpose.
