First Trimester Chat Sunday Cautious Intros/First Trimester thread
This thread serves as a transitional space for those newly or early confirmed pregnant following infertility. We understand that many folks feel cautious, uncertain, and even alarmed in this early phase when the process to conceiving has been complicated and/or there have been previous losses. If you have not experienced infertility we recommend other pregnancy subs as an alternative.
This thread is the place for early introductions, first trimester questions/chat, and finding others in the same mind space. We encourage graduates and others further along to respond compassionately to your questions and concerns, but please also consider reviewing our WIKI for commonly asked questions or references.

5w1d today and curious how other people have managed additional commitments in early pregnancy? I'm an academic and am tossing up whether to pull out of a couple of extra things I've agreed to but haven't been locked in for yet (extra essay marking and a public lecture). I've had pretty bad exhaustion already and nausea is starting to kick in so I don't want to make commitments I can't follow through on, but I also feel like making plans based on how I'll feel at 6-8 weeks is tempting fate??

Personally, I'd decide based on how flexible and understanding your workplace is. If there are other ppl who could and would take over those tasks for you when needed without drama, maybe you don't have to give up on it quite yet, at least not on everything. If not, then it may be a good idea to pull back a bit already for peace of mind.
I def relate to the tempting fate bit, but I think that realistically, you may need/appreciate lower workload no matter how well the pregnancy goes, maybe even more if there's bad news along the way.

Thanks! They'd need to give someone an additional contract to take over the marking so I've decided to pull back on that while there's still time to get it all sorted. And yeah, you're right about reducing the workload either way

Last year, I got pregnant in late October after struggling to conceive for more than a year. But it wasn't viable, and I miscarried soon after. At that time, hubby had tried to comfort me, saying that the baby just wanted to go back to bed for a little bit (which I thought was sweet to picture).
Tell me how it's now a year later basically to the dot, and after all those failed attempts, my period is late this week. The initial home tests are indicating that I'm pregnant, so I'm going to see my doctor this week, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up seeing how quickly it was all crushed the first time. Maybe this time baby will be ready to wake up on time

Well, last week I ordered Lupron Depot in preparation for my next embryo transfer now that my LO is 13mo. This morning, I took a pregnancy test and it’s positive. 6 years of infertility and IVF to have my first, and now this happens. I don’t even know how??? Like what? I have had 2 miscarriages in the past so nerves are high now.
