Mei Hu is a melodic drill track from Emiwayās FTSTTS album, and itās insanely loopable. When it dropped, I remember the general sentiment being that the track was too good to be this short. Letās get into the breakdown.
āAdam ke zamane se, kya
Ha haā
The track opens with Emiway suggesting that whateverās happening right now has been going on since Adamās time. Whether this is a religious reference or just a hyperbolic way of saying that some things never change is up for interpretation.
āKhate me aare sirf million pe million ha leta nahi bhai tera cash
Bharela tax ha facts ha ganit me weak ha accountant sambhale mathsā
Emiwayās account is raking in millions, to the point where he doesnāt even accept cash anymore. Emiway has repeatedly joked about being weak at maths and leaving the financial calculations to his accountant. Considering the amount of money involved, probably a sensible arrangement.
āHa teri baat pauchreli mere tak saath tere khaas nahi paas tere rats (Chuhe log)
Rappers ko khaa raha mai buffet me finish ha restaurant lage ye ragsā
He knows what his opps are saying about him, but the people around them arenāt exactly trustworthy. Instead of having loyal friends, theyāve got rats in their circle. He then transitions into eating rappers at a buffet, finishing the restaurant metaphor with what I think is a Ratatouille reference. The rat noises that Emiway makes in the adlibs make the interpretation even more plausible.
āNaachte reh flow mein ye faasle me reh
Raste me bohot saare naste me pasta mile
Phook dala smoke kar ke khasta nahi mai
Mujhse puchrele aage ka rasta ye rasta nahi maiā
Keep dancing to my flow, but maintain your distance. Heās encountered plenty of people along the way but theyāre about as substantial as pasta for breakfast. Not exactly a threat. The smoke reference works on two levels. Anyone trying to bring beef to him gets smoked without him even breaking a sweat, suggesting that these rappers are lightwork. Then comes the more interesting bit: people keep asking him for the way forward, but he isnāt their way forward. A jab at those who might want to use his name, connections or success as a stepping stone for their own careers. Heās not interested in entertaining that dynamic.
āDelhi se Mumbai tak baawo ko kar raha connect jaise Rajdhani mai
Rakhta koi vasta nahi mai
Gairo me hasta nahi maiā
Heās connecting people from Delhi to Mumbai like the Rajdhani Express connects the two cities. Thereās also a possible callback to Mumbai Se Dilli Tak, his collaboration with Krsna, who was obviously not his opp at the time. The following bars add context to the opening of the verse. He doesnāt maintain relationships with just anybody, nor does he feel comfortable laughing and socialising with people he considers outsiders. He has become selective about who gets access to him.
āKyuki mei
Baawe is duniya se nahi hu
Ha chote mai jo bhi hu sahi hu
Jo tu ha soche wo nahi hu
Dost mera abhi bhi mai hi hu (Mai hi hu be)ā
And this brings us to the highlight of the track, that beautifully composed, ridiculously loopable melodic chorus. The opening line ties back to his reluctance to associate with people. He doesnāt belong to this world, at least not in the sense that he operates by its expectations. Whatever he is, heās comfortable being that person. Whatever you think he is, youāre probably wrong. Thereās an interesting contradiction here, though. He presents himself as someone whoās misunderstood by everyone else, yet completely certain of his own identity. An enigma to the world, but not to himself. And the last line, āDost mera abhi bhi mai hi huā, brings the whole sentiment together. Despite the millions, the connections and the success, heās still his own closest friend.
āHa hood wala slang har gaana lage ghetto (O bacchi)
Dur se hi bye beta bolte nahi helloā
Despite his success, Emiway still carries the slang and linguistic identity of his hood into his music. His songs still sound ghetto, with the āO bacchiā adlib reinforcing that distinctly Mumbai flavour. The next line continues the idea of distance. He waves at people from afar instead of walking up to them and exchanging pleasantries. Fame hasnāt made him more socially accessible. If anything, itās done the opposite.
āAuthor mai khud ke life ka pen kare
Inspire sab ko Paulo Coelho (Author bolte)ā
Heās the author of his own life, and his pen inspires people like Paulo Coelho, the author of The Alchemist. Itās a straightforward pen game flex, but I like the way he connects authorship to personal agency. Heās writing his own story rather than letting someone else dictate it, and his writing is influential enough to inspire others.
āAage chalo, phir meri baari, bambari, lage bar, har baari
Udd gaye rang inke beef me diya mai dhang se choco mazaak nahi jaariā
Move aside, itās my turn again. Every time his bars land, itās a bombardment. The people heās beefed with have lost their colour, a metaphor for being left shaken after facing him. The āchocoā line is Emiwayās usual crude way of saying he gave his opps a proper dicking down. And the final āmazaak nahi jaariā makes it clear that from his perspective, this isnāt playful competition. Heās taking the beef seriously, and his opponents should too.
āKandhe pe zimmedari par na bhaari
Kimat hai ek-ek panna mera bhaari
Dikhata hu aisa khel ye easy hai par
Independent ban na bhaariā
There are responsibilities on his shoulders, but they donāt weigh him down. Every page he writes carries value, another way of asserting that his pen isnāt hollow lyricism for the sake of sounding clever. He might make the game look easy, but being an independent artist in a label dominated industry is anything but. The apparent ease of his success shouldnāt be confused with the difficulty of sustaining it without the machinery and backing that major labels provide. This is also a recurring part of Emiwayās identity as an artist. His independence isnāt just a business arrangement, itās part of the point heās making about himself.
āSmoke ke maamle me banda mai pahadi
Mumbai ka chokra koi leta nahi aadi
Throttle hi throttle hai bhai tera Yamaha
Rapper is scene ka two-stroke RDā
When it comes to smoke, or beef in this context, heās a Pahadi. The reference draws on the association of Pahadis being able to handle weed, essentially framing him as someone who can take the heat. Heās a Mumbai boy who doesnāt back down, and then he closes with the Yamaha comparison. Heās all throttle, all momentum, the two stroke RD of the rap scene.
The Yamaha RD is a cult classic, remembered for its distinctive character and performance. The comparison positions Emiway as a rapper whoās been around long enough to become an institution in his own right, someone with a recognisable identity who continues to stay relevant. Itās a fitting way to close a track built around self definition. He isnāt trying to be the newest thing in the scene. Heās asserting that he already has his own place in it.
The lyrics have their usual Emiway mix of flexes, humour, street references and independence, but the melodic drill production gives everything a distinctly introspective undertone. The central theme is pretty consistent throughout. Heās successful, heās surrounded by people who want something from him, and heās become increasingly unwilling to let strangers into his life. Heās connected to everyone, yet close to very few.
My only real complaint is the runtime. The track is so loopable that it feels like it ends just when youāve settled into its groove. Maybe thatās part of its charm, but Iād still have taken another verse or an extended outro.
A criminally short track that leaves you wanting more.

I have been listening Emiway for the longest time. Before his beef. I just happen to jump on this song and it kind of hit me big time.
The lines hit me so hard.
Especially this part. When you literally fall every time, even after giving your 200%. It sucks. I have now listened this song a few times in last 30 minutes and every time this segment comes, the tears roll like crazy.
Such relatable lines.......

"Meri boli ni padti hai laundo k palle, shaitaani ye bhaasha kanashi
How does vichaar make his performances look so damn effortless, gaana start se end tak ekdum hi hook karke rakhta hai. Easily one of the best pens in the scene rn

I want to print this as an A2 size poster. This is still a rough draft, I am seeking feedback on changes and improvements on this. Flexible on most changes other than album art. But I can limit the number of album art to just the albums and mixtapes instead of singles. TIA

Imagine krsna collaborating with anshious , sujal , prathamesh , parv , kai(Personal bias) , siyahi , vichaar . Tbh i would love to see him go toe to toe with these people rather than him collaborating with industry giants 'cus quite frankly i don't want the next raftaar x $ track as much as i want a $ x sujal or a $ x anshious track . Because imagine the flows , imagine the bars when he'll collab with these people . That album will have the potential to literally convert people from his haters to his fans . It'll contribute much more in his legacy than a mainstream kind of album . And i really hope we get to see that

People say that krsna doesn't drop enough ( they are right š ) but jo cla$$ic krsna track dala hai woh toh koi sunn nahi raha. KKBN got the flows, bars, hook and punches but sirf 3 mill streams. Kaash knock knock ki jagah KKBN blow up hota. It's beyond me ki kaise yeh gaana rehe Gayašš
